  1. Airport (Gottlieb 1969) 1.3.2

    Airport (Gottlieb 1969) v1.3.2

Once more Thank You Looserman76 (R.I.P.) for creating all these wonderfull EM tables.

This update follows after JCalhoun's vpx v1.2.

After Watching Joe's recent repair videos of this table, I noticed some fixes needed for the VP table by Looserman76 and the many updates allready done by others.

Table States where not right so I corrected those. Ball 1 thru 5 now correctly selects the various switches and varitarget state, after each ball in play.

For the playfield after some research and comparing Gottlieb photos, videos. The colors needed to be corrected for the top playfield, Gottliebs logo and the 2 outlanes.

They are now in my opinion closer to what it should be a colored salmon(like), as close as when it came out of the factory in 1969. Most virtual tables I have seen had it yellow or orange, red for gottlieb's logo etc.

    What's New in v1.3.2 - 2024-03-06
    New Lighting. Less Yellow.

    What's New in v1.3.1 - 2024-03-04
    Playfield Alpha Channel Fix.

    What's New in v1.3 - 2024-03-03
-Redone the Plastics Art at the top.
-Fixes on all 6 plastics and recolored them.
-Top playfield 50 Points Letters Salmon added.
-Playfield both diamonds purple color changed.
-Changed all the salmon color to a lighter tone.

    What's New in v1.2.3 - 2024-03-01
    - Top Playfield near the 6 Rollovers, salmon color needed to be added to the Zig Zag lines.
    - Airplane Line & Gottlieb Logo letters changed to same color has center diamond's purple.
    - Alpha channel was missing on the top roller #1.

    What's New in v1.2.2 - 2024-02-29
Table Script: Ball states corrections, vari-target correction
Playfield Color Corrections: Top playfield, Gottlieb's Logo, outlanes

  2. The Games (Gottlieb 1984)

Gottlieb's 1984 The Games!  Simple but hard to master. The goal: collect five medals in one ball and it consists of five shots.  Including captive balls, Vari-target, saucer, and a spinner.  The shots are really fulfilling despite the simple guidelines.  The captive ball, the spinner, and the vari target are examples of critical shots that pay off if you make them, but the ultimate payout an Olympic gold medal—comes from making them properly.

Thanks to Redbone who helped with the playfield and plastics from pictures off the web!  He also spent a ton of time with all the other graphics on the table as well as a ton of testing!  Hauntfreaks provided the higher resolution VR backglass (and an updated b2s).  DarthVito did the VR wall environment, and topper.  Silversurfer provided vector images from photos off the web for the VR cab.  Also, look for the alternate sound pack that Redbone and Darthvito have been working on.

I built the table from scratch and included the latest VPW standards, physics, GI and shadow baking, Lampz and 3D inserts, dynamic shadows, updated backglass for desktop, playfield mesh for a saucer bevel, roth standup targets, standalone compatibility,  optional DIP adjustments, updated flipper physics, VR and fully hybrid modes, Flupper style bumpers and lighting, gBOT system and trough. Dozens of hours were spent studying gameplay videos to match the table skill shots and action.  I also used Rothbauerw's updated flipper physics code to help with the skillshots.

NOTE:  YOU HAVE TO START THE TABLE 1ST, EXIT, AND THEN RESTART FOR DIP SETTINGS TO TAKE EFFECT.  This is ONLY the first time you launch the table.

This table is loaded with options. Various balls, ball brightness, flippers, tents, caps, plastic edge colors, LUTs, Dip settings, siderails, and plenty of other VR stuff. Redbone once again encouraged me to include special edge LED lighting in the plastics that iaakki originally did for another table.  Looks really cool, and is included as an option.

Redbone also created an alternate Gsound option.  Download it here:

The ROM can be found at pinballnirvana.com... thegames.zip).  There's an option in the script to change the DIPS, however it will load a default set when you launch the table.  NOTE:  AGAIN, YOU HAVE TO START THE TABLE 1ST, EXIT, AND THEN RESTART FOR DIP CHANGES TO TAKE EFFECT.  This is ONLY the first time you launch the table.

There's also an option for "Tourney Mode".  In that mode it'll play a little harder with different DIP settings, which excludes extra ball... and requires 3 medals to light special rather than 2.  Tourney mode also sets colors and rainbow'ed LEDs on plastics.  NOTE:  you'll have to start and restart the first time in that mode for the DIP changes to take effect.

If you want to change the DIPs... you will need to go into the script options and change SetDIPSwitches to 1, then open the table, hit F6 (that'll load the default DIPS and display them). You can then select various ROM options.  Once entered, you can exit out, and restart.  That will then set the new ROM settings.

Once again thanks to Redbone, Hauntfreaks, Apophis, Darthvito, Silversurfer and the VPW team for testing, and everyone else that provided feedback!

  3. Slick Chick (Gottlieb 1963) 1.2.1

Why is Slick Chick one of the Top 10 EM (electro-mechanical) games voted by players on IPDB (Internet Pinball Database)?

Is it the artwork featuring a barbershop quartet, showgirls wearing bunny ears and an apparently sauced Uncle Wiggily? Maybe.

Or maybe it is due to how challenging the game is. A gobble hole in the playfield center seems to be particularly nasty if you launch multiple balls onto the playfield. Watching fans who enjoy Slick Chick though, they talk about the two skill shots you need to dial in in order to roll over either the CHICK or the SLICK at the top of the playfield. Others say this is the ultimate nudge game and will reward your ability to finesse the ball.

From @Cliffy Slick Chick-res-files are for desktop users in HD, 2K, 4K and UW (ultrawide) configurations.

The .res files in the zip are intended for desktop users of this version of Slick Chick and are named as such. However, they can certainly be used for  any other table running in desktop mode and uses a directb2s (b2s) with or without a fulldmd as long as the filename matches the tables filename.

They are configured to place the backglass on the right and the fulldmd to the left and are sized for a single player EM. Again they are good as templates for other sizes and locations as well. The # comment lines in the file explain what each line does.

Unzip the .res file that best matches your single monitor (desktop mode) to the same folder as the table. The b2s file also needs to reside in the same folder.
Delete the first 3 characters of the filename, ie, if the file you need is HD-Slick Chick (Gottlieb 1963) 1.1.res then delete the HD- so it reads Slick Chick (Gottlieb 1963) 1.1.res.
Remember, the .res filename needs to match the vpx table name exactly. The b2s filename also must match exactly so rename as needed.

It is assumed you already have a 2.0 or newer version of B2S Server installed.
    https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/12024-b2s-backglass-server/

If you want to use a b2s with a table that has built in desktop scoring I've made a tutorial showing how to do this here https://vpuniverse.com/tutorials/article/32-desktop-backdrops-adding-or-changing-the-basics/

Thanks to @JCalhoun and @hauntfreaks for help and encouragement. Super thanks to @jarr3 for modernizing and adding such great features to the B2S Server.
I'm always open to suggestions that will improve location and sizing, especially since I do not have a 4k or ultrawide monitor to test.
    Enjoy!

The late @loserman76 created this table, and over 200 others. The VPX community continues to polish and tweak the games he left us. @hauntfreaks and @Cliffy helped with this iteration — fixing reflections, lighting, etc. I brought in Fleep sounds.

After reading your positive feedback on the Cyclone table, I contacted Herweh to ask for permission to modify his Hurricane table.
And with a lot of kindness he said yes  Thank's to him

you will therefore be able to complete your collection with this revisited playfield, plastic apron pinball table. I didn't modify the music because I think it's going well.

  7. King of Diamonds (Gottlieb 1967) 1.2.1

King of Diamonds is a playing-card based table where you try to get a complete hand of Diamonds — Ace through King. It's still of the bell-ringing era but has one of those whirling roto-wheels that provide the player with an ever-changing palette of targets.

Again, the community is indebted to Loserman76 for this and another 200+ EM (electro-mechanical) tables in the VPX community. From his original table other members of the community like Teisen and Cliffy (and now myself) have been able to polish and enhance his original work. This particular enhancement here combines work done by Cliffy to enhance the materials, reflections, etc. and changes I made to improve the sounds and sound code. Whether you have SSF (surround sound feedback) or no, I think you'll enjoy the audio of this revision.

  9. Baseball (Gottlieb 1970) 1.2

Baseball plus pinball is a match made in heaven — and Baseball (Gottlieb 1970) demonstrates that perfectly.

Think of each ball as an inning (too bad there are only 5 in this game — apparently a version from Gottlieb called Batters Up allowed for additional balls to be won). Targets and rollovers on the playfield score your team singles, doubles, triples — and when they do, the bases on a baseball diamond light up to indicate runners on those bases. It is incredibly rewarding to see all the bases lit up, bases loaded, and then make a perfect vari-target drive in to left field to score a homerun. (BTW, IPDB says the star-style rollover buttons on this table, they're the bases, were first introduced in this game.)

Unique to this game is a separate tally of runs in addition to the usual method of pinball scoring. Bring a runner home and a run is scored — try for that bases-loaded homerun to increase your runs by four. A separate high score counter keeps track of the most runs made in a game.

If only Gottlieb had made this a two-player game you could have competed on runs with a friend...

Loserman76, RIP, brought us all this table and he is to be thanked foremost for this and over 200 other EM (electro-mechanical) tables. Others in the community have contributed including Teisen, Cliffy.... In this version I have added Fleep sounds and richer sound code. It is especially nice on SSF (surround sound feedback) setups but benefits desktop players as well. Cliffy made changes to materials, lighting, removing errant reflections, etc.

  10. Airport (Gottlieb 1969) 1.2

Airport is a bell-banger from 1969. No spinners or ball locks — just two-fisted vari-target action and plenty of bell ringing bumpers.

Vari-targets are those targets that when you ram into them with your ball they retreat backward — your score increasing the farther you drive them back. I love vari-targets and Airport has not one but a pair of them. In fact, Airport was the very first pinball table to feature vari-targets.

A four-player version of this table exists with a different theme and artwork, College Queens — also from 1969. (I think I like the jet-set Airport theme better though.)

Another community effort, this version is built upon the original version created by the late Loserman76 and the additional aesthetic musings of Teisen. I added Fleep sounds and new sound code while Cliffy made improvements and fixed oversights in the playfield (textures, reflections, etc.).

Be sure to grab the recent backglass from Hauntfreaks featuring Silversurfer's amazing vector artwork.

  13. Space Mission (Williams 1976) 1.1

Space Mission came out in the year of the U.S Bicentennial. I remember that year and can tell you that the air was heavy with patriotism and this pinball machine, featuring the U.S. Apollo spacecraft, hews closely to the zeitgeist of 1976. (Although it also features the USSR's Soyuz spacecraft - depicting an event, the Apollo-Soyuz rendezvous, that had occurred the year before in 1975).

Unusual features of this four-player, EM (electro-mechanical) table include a swinging target in the center of the playfield and the two ball kickers on either side of the flippers (watch people play the real table - they let the ball roll off the flipper into these kickers for extra points). Also, a spinner in the upper-left is fun to rocket through, and see if you can orbit the Super Bonus Advance in the upper-right.

The Space Mission table is (at the time of this writing) #4 in the top-10 for electro-mechanical pinball. The two-player version of this table is called Space Odyssey.

This is a community, EM table, originally created by the late Loserman76. We are indebted to him for, by my count, over 200 VPX tables.

My changes to Loserman76's table, this version 1.1, add Fleep sounds and new sound code. The table now plays much better on cabinets with SSF (surround-sound feedback).

  14. American Country VPX

This American Country Pinball table is a re-skin of AC/DC LUCI (Stern 2013) VPinWorkshop version 1.1. Original table by Stern Pinball.

I chose the AC/DC table for my Country Music mod for many reasons. I love the gameplay but sometimes I’m not in the mood for hard AC/DC music. Overall, I've tried to relax the game with country music and related sound effects while keeping the intense gameplay dynamics. I replaced the comical “abusive” AC/DC voice prompts with AI generated Johnny Cash voices. The toys map well to country music themes: Hells Bells to Liberty Bell, train to pickup truck, cannon to gun and so on. In the minigame the metaphor is you fight for freedom instead of against the devil. Instead of a Jukebox, there’s a Playlist with selected songs arranged as twelve different tags that span the themes found in Country Music. As a bonus I provide instructions to replace the Playlist with your own favorite songs.

FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY AND NOT FOR COMMERCIAL SALE OR DISTRIBUTION.

I extend many thanks to all who have worked on the precursors and components built into this table, including: ninuzzu, Sixtoe, hauntfreaks, Fluffhead35, nfuzzy, Apophis, Tomate, Retro27, Schlabber34, javier, DJRobX, dark, tom tower, knorr, rysr, Peter J, RustyCardores, the VPDevTeam, and more! Custom ROM
NOTE, you must use my custom version of acd_170.zip ROM

Beta Users: If you installed a preview version of this table that used acd_170hc rom, note that i changed it to acd_170, to avoid conflicts with people’s existing installations of AC/DC.

The American Country VPX pinball game requires a custom version of the acd_170h ROM named to acd_170.zip. This is NOT the same as the acd_170 rom you might find elsewhere, I’m just repurposing the file name.

The custom ROM includes sound effects, voices, and music clips. Legally you should get the original Stern ROM and modify it yourself, although I’ve provided a pre-made one (for your reference only 😉) in the downloads. See the CUSTOM ROM readme file for details and instructions.

Why a Custom ROM? Typically, VPinMAME lets you replace ROM sounds using altsound. I was not able to get this to work with this Stern ROM (and from my research it may not be possible with the current version of VPinMAME), so instead I have written my sounds directly into the ROM file. (If I am wrong and you know a way to use altsound with this ROM please reach out to me and I’ll redo this!). Thus, I’m using the acd_170 ROM name.

    Enjoy!

  15. Jet Spin (Gottlieb 1977) 1.2.1

Jet Spin is the #2 EM (electro-mechanical) pinball table on IPDB (Internet Pinball Database) as of the time I typed this. Why is that?

Maybe it's because you can actually work a ball for more than a minute before seeing it off to the drain. It allows you to rack up some decent scores.
Maybe too it's the vari-target on the right side of the table. Something about that crazy sound it makes when you hit it; something about kicking it downfield.
And there is a rather challenging target hanging off to the left of the table. Pretty satisfying if you can manage to tap it.

We are all forever in the dept of Loserman76 for creating the initial implementation of this table for VPX. The table has seen plenty of collaborators from the community, including most recently Teisen and Cliffy. This iteration is based on the latest that Teisen uploaded. My small contribution is SSF (surround sound feedback) embellishment with Fleep sounds and new sound code. Cliffy made some tweaks to the physics, lighting....

I hope everyone continues to enjoy these community tables.

This is a original table with all the files included in the table. Modding only by approval.
With 1,3 and 5 million you will get an extra ball

This table started of as a request from gamemodder, so he could learn to build a table. Then he quit and i tried it with snapstick but he was to busy. Then i asked a friend and he also quit. Luckily i found drjameshouse and he helped with the code and things on the table to get familiar with vpx. We where on a time pressure, because i wanted to release the table before halloween.

    RULES:
this table has a day and night modus. You start in the day 6:00 the time will move till you reach 00:00 there will be an intro and the scary part begins. Can you survive the night?

  18. Sheriff (Gottlieb 1971) 1.2

It's a fascinating thing that the work you create, if shared, can outlive you. So it is for Jeff "Loserman76" Whitehead. We all have him to thank for his prolific work in creating EM games for VPX.

And so his title, Sheriff is seeing a lot of work by the community: Teisen modded, then GauGau... I have tweaked the sound code to incorporate Fleep's sounds and sound code. This improves the SSF (surround sound feedback) for flippers, etc.

As per GauGau's work, you can create a music folder called "Sheriff" with custom music, or see his Western-themed PUP pack.

  19. Cow Poke (Gottlieb 1965)_Teisen_MOD

First I would like to thank Loserman76 for the beautiful work... wherever he is playing pinball!

small changes were made only aesthetically

small improvements in the playfield, plastics, lighting, flippers position...  I want to make it clear that the descriptions for the tables I'm sharing are "standard" for all, changes are made when there is a need for some adjustment.

version used, follow the link to the original table

For this table I received a lot of help and collaboration from Wildman who made changes to the script so that B2s worked correctly! Thank you very much for your excellent work and for sharing.
    Wildman's B2s for this table

New Backdrop created by Cliffy! Thank you friend.

    Adjustments made:

    - Playfield color correction and touch-ups
    - cap bumpers corretion
    - added primitive to the base of the bumpers and lighting
    - lighting
    - metals
    - screws
    - new pov
    - new top tabs
    - other small touches

    Loserman Description:
    Build/Coding by Loserman76
    Artwork by GNance
'*  hauntfreaks - newer postit note images, environment file, lighting information, primitives
'*  BorgDog - his tables that helped me to understand more with VPX - and I probably lifted a primitive or 2 from them as well
'*  GNance - score motor tweaks to behave like a real EM, PostIt routines, Options menu
    '*  JPSalas - gameroom backdrop
'*  Pinuck - Gottlieb chimes and score motor routines
'*  Arngrim - DOF coding and information

when game is not in progress, holding down left flipper for about 3-5 seconds will bring up the options menu. left flipper selects item, right flipper changes option
in addition to the "standard" keys (typically "1" to start game and "5" for coin), I've added "3" for coin and "4" for coin and auto-start game to simulate 3 coin slots
    Shadow config settings:
Look for these 2 lines near the beginning of the scripting:
    Const ShadowFlippersOn = true
    Const ShadowBallOn = true
change to false if you want either of the shadows not showing on your tables
I've also included a wheel image in the ZIP for your convenience

For the manual ball lift you can use either the start game button (typically "1") OR you can use the letter "A".
For Cow Poke you can modify line 597 to your preferences if you don't like mine

  23. The Goonies Never Say Die Pinball (VPW)

"Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here."

The VPin Workshop members present The Goonies: Never Say Die Pinball! This project started out by adding physics and fleep sound to Hawkeyez88 pup-pack release.  In doing so many scripting issues were found in the original table.  We decided to not only fix the current table, but have added support for FlexDMD, new modes, ramps, shadows, playfield, sounds, ect.
Pretty much every piece of this table has been touched, enhanced, and tested.

This table is setup to work with the FlexDMD out of the box.  You can disable the FlexDMD and enable the pupPack created by Hawkeyez88 by changing the options in the script.

    * Main table overhaul: fluffhead35, oqqsan
    * nfozzy and fleep: fluffhead35
    * DOF: apophis

    * wylte: Flasher shadows on ramp
    * Original pupdmd code: Nailbuster

This release would not have been possible without the legacy of those who came before us including, in this case, Javiers VPX version.

Thank you to Rothbauerw and nFozzy for the physics. Thanks to Fleep for sounds.

  24. King Rock (Gottlieb 1972) 1.2

Thanks to Loserman76, Teisen, Cliffy  - another great EM (electro-mechanical) table for VPX. Fleep sounds have been added for this version, 1.2, enhancing the table.
Some small tweaks to lighting, a 2K apron and cards round out the changes.

The table is a little unusual  having a pair of flippers lined up on the left of the drain and another pair of flippers along the right of the drain. It also is conspicuous for having no slingshots.

Learning the unusual flippers is part of the fun. Additionally, the power of the flippers allows you to get the ball back near the top of the playfield - unusual for many EM tables.

The original table by Loserman76 (RIP) is here: https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/8293-king-rock-gottlieb-1972/
