  2. The Hungry Dead (Original)

Just in time for Halloween come the ghouls on The Hungry Dead!  I have always loved this table even though I have never cared too much for the macabre.  This table never carries the macabre too far and it is all in fun. It is kid-friendly and fun for all ages to play.

This table was originally designed to delete the progress you make in the game if the ball drains before you reach your goal.  For that reason, it might produce some disappointment, especially for kids.  However, on this version, I have added Easy Mode!  It not only keeps your progress in the game when the ball drains, but you can also adjust how long two timed sequences last.  The default is to have it turned off so you need to change it before you give it to your kids.  To be honest, I rather like the easy mode myself.  I have added a full description at the beginning of the script on how to make changes.

I added FizX Lite 3.0 and the latest version of the FizX tweaker.  Gimli and I have spent much time improving the tweaker.  I have noticed that the tweaker is much more stable than it was when it was first released.  The tweaker has overlays that describe each of the FizX parameters and how to navigate the tweaker.  All you need to remember is to press the Special 1 key to open the tweaker.  Even if you don't understand the options, I encourage you to at least make adjustments to "Bounce Choices" that have options anyone will understand.  I set it up for my personal preference but I think most people prefer more bounce than I do.

This table has never had an attract mode.  That is the light show and music that play before you start the game.  All the tables I have modified have always had a light sequence during the attract mode.  This is the first time I have ever added one.  It was a learning experience.  I think you will like it.

This table has five lighting options that you can adjust by pressing the Special 2 key.  The "FP Orig" lighting mode is for those of you who have low-end PCs.  There are lots of other options at the beginning of the script where you can change settings for those of you who like to tweak things.  The HUD Toggle key also works.

    Zip File – Must Read

There is a zip file included in the download.  It contains the model of a ball with 1K polygons.  Do not unzip the zip file.  Just save it with the same name as the table and place it in the same folder as the table.  If you don't use it, the physics won't be correct.

    Table Loading Screen

There are five table-loading textures as listed below.  The three landscape textures are intended to be used on desktop PCs.  The two portrait textures are intended to be used on pinball cabinets.  In this version, I added a less gruesome landscape texture that is more kid-friendly.

    LoadingLandscape1.jpg
    LoadingLandscape2.jpg
    LoadingLandscape3.jpg
    LoadingPortrait1.jpg

    Rotated Display Version

If you have ever downloaded one of my table mods, you have probably noticed there are usually two variations. There is a basic version for general PC usage and pinball cabinets. The other version of the table is for use on a desktop PC on a single monitor with a portrait orientation. This version would be of interest to you if your monitor can be turned 90 degrees.

The tweaker on this table presented a special problem for my rotated display version.  It requires more space on the backbox for the tweaker overlays than I usually allocate.  I couldn't use a HUD for the same reasons that it doesn't usually work on a cabinet.  I managed to create views using BAM's desktop camera.   I was surprised it worked for a table with 270-degree rotation.  Then I thought about having to revise my setup guide.  I normally use the same Static Cam menu used by the cabinet guys.  My old guide was 1 1/2 pages long.  After thinking about it, I realized that the only instructions you need are:

    1) Open the "Video / Rendering Options" menu in FP and change the "Rotation" option to 270 degrees.
    2) Rotate your monitor clockwise 90 degrees and play the table.

The camera settings are coded in the script and are run automatically.  The view will change when you open the tweaker so you can see more of the backbox.  When you close the tweaker, the view changes back to the normal view.  If you ever replace the monitor on your PC, be sure to get one that has a stand that rotates.  I added screenshots of the normal and tweaker views.

    Conclusion

I hope you enjoy the table.  I have revised it three times so it should be obvious I like it.

    List of Changes

    1) Added FizX Lite 3.0 with the latest version of the FizX tweaker and overlays that explain each FizX parameter.
    2) Added a new loading screen image for desktop with less graphic imagery for children.
    3) Added attract mode (the previous version did not have one) with light sequences and music.
    4) Created easy mode which does not delete your progress in the game when the ball drains.
    5) Added other easy mode options to allow changes to the length of two timed modes.
    6) Made shadow maps brighter than version 1.3 and changed settings on the lighting modes.
    7) Created a rotated display version of the table using BAM's desktop camera option in the script.

  3. The Sand Reapers - Assassins of the desert

The Sand Reapers are a non existent electronica/rock fusion band. This table is based on their non existent album: Assassins of the Desert. All 14 tracks are included in this table. It uses my stereo system (originally from my Road Trip table, which this layout was built upon,) so you can skip tracks, set to random etc. Tracks were generated by an AI ("Accidental Intersection" between their reality and ours 😛 with the band name and album and year 1999 as prompt.)

    Track list:
    1- Melting Heat
    2- Drifting Sands
    3- Diving into the shadows
    4- Imagining an oasis
    5- Hunting the bounty
    6- Campfire Ambush
    7- Falling in blood
    8- How it ends
    9- Tired of running
    10- Whatever the cost
    11- No way home
    12- Being a ghost
    13- Companion in arms
    14- Dunes of wrath

    Ruleset:
Light REAPER targets to open first lock (back left) lock 1st to open second (center/lower left) lock 2nd to open 3rd (lower right) At any time, hit upper center right kicker to release any locks. Release all at once for 4 ball multi across the desert

Light SAND targets to light the bumper lamp for 3x bumpers.

Light top RUN lanes for bonus multiplier

    Light in/out lanes for ballsaver.

center loop channel doubles point each hit while lit.

Light the HUNT letter spots to get some nice points.

Hit the H and T targets immediately below the left and right channels while the target is already lit to raise the ramps to access the raised playfield.

hit three platform exit triggers to light, then light assassins targets to trigger three ball multiball event. The three triggers remain lit for the rest of your ball.

Hitting the lower left and right bumpers or kickers will activate the out lane diverters.

    Additional notes:
This table is coded as a late SS era table, however it has potential for some radical later DMD era ruleset changes, so feel free to mod if you feel inspired and capable. This table, like most of my recent work, is free to mod.

I also realise that the simple audio controls share key bindings with some of the bam functions. Sorry about that, the audio stuff was coded long ago, and I don't have the energy to dive back into them right now (though if I ever do, I will add much more controls to them, like volume etc.) The key sharing situation does not impact gameplay at all, so I let it slide.

  4. TMNT Stern

Granit startede on this table, and made the foundation.
I have updated the table and done the following :

Fixed missing graphics/textures, so now the textures are about 98% correct.
Fixed places where the ball would get stuck.
Added toys: Krang - Turtles Plane - Turtles Van.
Optimized the long loading time to almost nothing.
Added The Turtles movie intro on the backglass.

I am a 3D artist and don't got any programming skills, so I cant finish this table, so I hope a friendly soul with some programming skills
would make this table even more complete ? See the to do list:

    What needs fixing:

The black hole in the upper left corner, the ball needs to go in there and come out of the other black hole on the right.
The scoreboard needs to be fixed from an EM scoreboard to a more awesome digital scoreboard.
Multiball start at random, and needs to be fixed, perhaps with a lock ball function, that will release into a multiball.
A basic set of rules added to the table would be nice, and make it even more fun to play 🙂

Permission to mod: Yes please do 😄

    See short video: https://youtu.be/KHMODjaKzPQ

Please someone finish this table, thank you 😄

DOFLinx - "A powerful utility for cabinet owners to make the most of force feedback and lighting." - by DDH69

This Future Pinball table has DOFLinx commands added to it. This will enable support for pinball cabinet force feedback devices such as solenoids (flippers, bumpers, slingshots, drop targets, etc), RGB lighting and flashers, beacon, strobes, blower fan, shaker and more!

Requirements / Installation: Regardless of using this table with force feedback (Pinball Cabinet) or without (Desktop), you MUST install the current DOFLinx.vbs script into your ‘Future PinballScripts’ folder. Running the table without DOFLinx.vbs will cause an error. (FF_INIT)

Copy the *.fpt and .xml files to your Future "PinballTables" folder

DOFLinx.vbs is included with the DOFLinx install package. This file is NOT included with this table to avoid version mismatches, and future compatibility issues with newer revisions of DOFLinx.

    DOFLinx install package download:

The current download of DOFLinx can be found through this post at vpforums:

    http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=35852

It is recommended to use this table with BAM (Better Arcade Mode), in order to get the most accurate version of physics intended for this table. Copy the *.fpt and *.xml within this archive to your "Future PinballTables" directory.

    Cabinet Use:

For cabinet users running DOFLinx: This table will function with the in-game sounds for mechanical devices such as flippers, slingshots, bumpers, etc muted.  Instead, you will only hear your cabinets feedback devices for those actions. The rest of the games sounds will play normally as intended by the table author.

    Desktop Use:

For desktop users: This table will still function normally without the need for DOFLinx to be running or installed. You will however require the DOFLinx.vbs file (read "Requirements / Installation"). It will play perfectly with the original in-game mechanical sounds playing through your PCs speakersNote: Any DMDs or HudOverlays intended for desktop use were moved out of view so that they will not appear on the playfield (this table was modded for DOFLinx cabinet use).

    Night Mode:

For cabinet users who want to play at night with their cabinet noise makers turned off, this table can be toggled between Cabinet Use (noisy), and Desktop Use (Night Mode). Please consult the DOFLinx guide (included with the DOFLinx install package) for more information on how to use Night Mode.

  6. Twilight Zone (Bally, 1993)

Note that BAM (Better Arcade Mode) must be installed for this table to operate properly.

This table has a menu that is accessed by pressing the Special 2 key.

Many of the guys who compete in pinball championships consider "Twilight Zone" to be one of the most difficult tables to play.  I suppose that might be true but it is still really fun to play which I think is due to its incredible design.  The FP version of the table was originally built by Francisco666 and the models were built by ROM.  The basic rules are also not all that difficult to remember either.  The center of the playfield has a door with lights around the perimeter.  The lights display most of the available modes.  During game play, one of these lights is usually blinking.  Hitting the bumpers will move the blinking light around the perimeter of the door.  You can start a mode of whatever light is blinking by hitting the kicker under the piano.  The kicker under the slot machine may also start the modes randomly also.  Any mode that you complete will change the blinking light to be lit solid.  There are more rules but this will get you started.

The quality of the original voice quotes was pretty bad but Francisco probably used the best available audio files at the time.  I reworked the audio to provide a much cleaner sound.  I found about 7 or 8 different versions of audio so I selected the best sounds from each.  The new sounds are included in the new library, DIMENSION_SONIDOS.

When I got to the music, I decided to provide two versions of music libraries in addition to the original music.  All three music libraries have the same name but I changed the case of some of the letters so you can identify the version.  All of the libraries are compatible with the older versions of the table.  You can only save one of these versions of the music to your library folder at a time so you might want to save them the other versions to a subfolder.

    Original Remix - DIMENSION_MUSICA.fpl
    Alternate          - DIMension_musica.fpl
    Rock                 - DIMENSion_musica.fpl

I added Shiva flippers to this table that are switchable to the standard Gimli/George dynamic flippers.  Shiva flippers have more power in the center of the flippers than at the tip and base.  The Gimli/George flippers has the least power at the tip and the most power at the base.  I also added a flipper rotation speed chart that I think will be used for the first time on this table.  I am using a slightly modified version of a chart that JLou5641 developed.  The chart changes the way a flipper accelerates and moves.  It helps to improve the accuracy of the shots.  I recommend that you try the options for physics in the menu shortly after you download the table because it doesn't take long for your mind to get locked into a certain way of playing the table.  There is also menu switchable music that play the original rock song, "The Twilight Zone".  It will replace some of the music selections in the music libraries listed above.

There are a few changes I made that couldn't be done when the table was created.  The real table has a "power ball" that is made of white ceramic and is much lighter than a steel ball.  When this FP table was built, a white ball was impossible to create so they offered a choice of different colored balls.  For this table, I created a white ball using a photograph of an ceramic ball used on the real table.  I also changed the physics of it when it is released onto the table so it is lighter.

My friend, AnonTet, performed a lot of testing on this table but he also figured out a way to make the dynamic flippers more efficient.  This became necessary when I tried to add Wild's code that adds a sound when the ball hits the flipper.  Wild also made a change to the model used on the side blades.  He took a model that had the best fit I could find and made it fit perfectly.

I added two new table loading textures that you can select on the Table Information screen of the FP editor:
    LoadingLandscape – For desktop usage
LoadingPortrait – For pinball cabinet usage

Of course, the table has the same lighting options I have added to other tables.  I added a spotlight for the first time on the miniplayfield.  It will probably use it again on other tables.

Included in the download is a zip file that contains a file that changes the unlit pixels of the DMD.  It changes the color of them to be the same color as the background.  If you choose to use it, it must remain zipped, have the same name as the table and be placed in the same folder as the table.

You can download a different version of the table that is called "rotated display".  This is for a desktop PC with a single monitor that can be rotated so the monitor is in portrait format.  I added a screenshot of it and the download includes a PDF file with directions.

Pat Lawlor designed a beautiful table that really needs no enhancements.  If you play this table a lot, you might get tired of the same music so I added some options there.  Even though Slamt1lt added some video and music, the game play of this table is the same as the original.  My objective here was to make the table look, sound and perform better.  I think you will agree that this objective has been met.  I hope you enjoy it!

These are the list of changes:

    1. Replaced poorly recorded sounds, including all voice quotes.
    2. Added new instruction cards.
    3. Added custom physics and dynamic flippers with Gimli/GeorgeH flippers and Shiva's flippers.
    4. Added emkickers to the slingshots to improve physics.
    5. Added lighting mod and add Lighting Control Panel to the script.
    6. Added HUD Toggle Key that saves setting.
    7. Added new textures on the table loading screen for both desktop and cabinets.
    8. Added menu system with options for lighting, balls per game, HUD on/off etc.
    9. Added message that looks at BAM version and reminds you to upgrade BAM if needed.
    10. Added shadow maps.
    11. Edited plunger pull special script so you can make the skill shot.
    12. Added switchable option for 3 or 5 balls per game that saves setting.
    13. Added bulbs that provide the halo that shines through the slingshots.
    14. Added side rails with art (sometimes called side blades).
    15. Added bump maps to the camera and slot machine.
    16. Added DMD background color, ball/flipper shadows and ball configuration to the script.
    17. Added rock version of theme music and made it switchable with the default theme music.
    18. Added menu option to switch between Gimli/GeorgeH flippers and Shiva's flippers.
    19. Added menu option to switch table slope so end user can easily change ball speed.
    20. Added menu option to switch bounce control options.
    21. Converted images and video images to use power of 2 to reduce table loading time.
22.Lowered right ramp to make it perform better.
    23. Added BAM code that allows the score to exceed 2 billion points.
    24. Changed the end of game video so it can be turned off. Also fixed the end of game video so it plays the correct audio file and remove the broken Rod Steiger video.

More detail about the development of this mod is available at this link:

The Grid's most awesome addressable leds make for Light Cycle ramp effects, Light Jet Cannons, Explosions and the coolest de-resolution effects you have ever seen in a real pinball cabinet!

A video demonstration of this table can be seen here in my cabinet:

This table has complete cabinet feedback and lighting support for the following:
    – 10 solenoids for flipper, slingshots, bumpers, etc..
    – 5 RGB flashers
    – Blower Fan
    – Shaker
    – Gear motor
    – Strobe
    – Beacon
    – Start button
    – Coin button
    – Launch Ball button
    – RGB Undercab Lighting
    – Addressable Leds

    Requirements:

    - DOF R3 installed (for DOFLinx cabinet feedback and lighting) and addressable leds already setup and working (for MX led effects).
    - DOFlinx 5.20 or higher is REQUIRED, even if you don't have addressable leds.
    - addressable leds are NOT required to play this table, but they are HIGHLY recommended.
    - to use the addressable leds with this table you must have your DOF "config" files updated by using DOF Config Tool! (just like you would for Visual Pinball)

To play a Future Pinball table with addressable leds support (DOFLinx MX):

    - update DOFLinx as per normal (must be 5.20 or higher). Make sure you copy over the new DOFLinx.vbs to "Future Pinball Scripts".
    - add DIRECTOUTPUTGLOBAL=c:DirectOuputConfigGLobalConfig_b2sServer.xml   (assuming you have it there)  to your DOFLinx.ini file.
    - download the awesomeness of a Future Pinball DOFLinx MX table
    - check DOF Config Tool to see if support for that table has been added to it yet  (you will see FP tables start with "FP:") If there are no DOF commands showing for that table, its not supported yet.
    - "Generate" a new Config File (containing directoutputconfig30.ini in the zip)  and copy the new files to your "DirectOutput Configs"  folder.
    - play the epicness that is Future Pinball with DOFLinx cabinet feedback and addressable leds!
