"If you liked Bally's famous 8-Ball, you're going to love the all new 8-Ball Deluxe. With a contemporary Western theme, it's a rack of features: 3 flippers, severeal shots with continuous build up, and the popular backbox carryover feature will excite the sharpshooter in any player"

Resurrected from bord's old build circa 2018, this updated version of Eight Ball Deluxe has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. Uncle Paulie overhauled the table and flipper physics, targets, VR, ball trough, shadows, DT Backglass, major solenoid/ROM rework... lots of timing issues with various PC hardware.  VLM arrays and animation, F12 options, sling corrections, standalone, and Fleep sounds. Bord started from scratch in Blender with new modeling, lightmapped render and mesh physics.

Yes!!!  An absolute GEM of an update!

Bord and Uncle Paulie have knocked this one right out of the park - I can't describe how great this feels from a physics standpoint.

And the artwork?  Oh man - this honestly sets a new standard.

10/10 - I love this table!

This table was already one of my favorites.
With this update and the VR environment, it is a gem in my collection.
I already played it during the test phase and now I have to write about the finished table:

Simply perfect. 😍
Wonderful artwork and lightning, plus the perfect physics. The table gets a place of honor in my favorites list. Unfortunately we can only award 5 stars. It would have deserved more.
Great work @UnclePaulie and @bord.

Wonderful table, but in my setting (no VRRoom) it lacked all mech sounds. Solution is to copy code line 56 ("VolumeDial") to line 60, or, alternatively, delete the if - end if in lines 54 and 59.

I have no flipper or plunger sound. All other sounds work. Whats up?

Thanks in advance.

absolute amazing pinball simulation. The sound effects are also very realistic. The one pinball that I most often play. Thanks.

[Update on the issue at the bottom, seem to work only in desktop mode]

Hi,

What a table ! As a certified old timer, I remember countless hours spent playing eight ball deluxe in a bar close to my school instead of attending classes...This was a long time ago in a far far away galaxy...

So having my favourite table here in front of me led me to build my own cabinet. Ongoing project.

The table is fantastic from a graphics point of view, physics are great, playability near perfect.

BUT... I have a major issue that somehow "ruins the experience" :(

When I start the table, all multipliers, special lamps, extra ball, target lamps are already on.

As if I had played for hours and managed to collect all possible bonuses.

Shooting targets work fine, but does nothing to the corresponding lamps that are always on no matter what..

Going through A, B, C and D lanes does nothing, lamps are always on anyway.

Left lane is on up to the 50000 lamp, but going through the la,e does nothing more.

All mutipliers lamps are on near the flippers, shooting the 2x 3x etc targets does nothing more.

See attached picture, just launched the game, did nothing yet, all lamps already on :(

Basically, I get free games everytime since everything is completed by default... Wish I had this when I had to put real coins in the machine  backin the days, but not now :)

As for my setup : Win11, Radeon RX 580 graphic card, playing Open GLversion of DirectX version does the same.

I tried latest stable version of VPX 10.8 64bits, and also latest release candidate 7 with same results.

No clue about this one.

As if there was a config file somewhere that loads some kind of  a savegame.

I tried another nice recreation of the eight ball deluxe, which works totally fine, but somehow I like this one better for graphics and physics.

Does anybody have a clue about my issues ?

Thanks for your help, and thanks to the creators of this great table !

[UPDATE ! PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS IN CABINET MODE]

What ? Just tried desktop mode in VP settings and problem is gone 😯

Back to cabinet mode, and problem is back again :(

In desktop mode, all lamps flash when starting the game, in cabinet mode, all lamps are on, no flashing and stay on afterwards.

Maybe this can help identifying the problem  ?

[END UPDATE]

Cheers

This was always a favorite of mine and with the updates, well the experience is just awesome. The table looks and plays great in VR and VPX, thanks for this!!

It doesn’t get much better than this classic Bally.  This and Cue Ball Wizard are my favorite pool themed games.  The lighting , physics and everything else are exactly what can be expected from @bord.  All top notch quality.  Thank you to all involved in bringing this table to life.  Much appreciated.  “Chalk up!”

Fantastic table, thank you @bord but... I'm using RTX 2080 (8 GB) GPU, 1920x1080, Desktop mode only, so from VPX 10.8 (RC1 non-GL non-Debug, because most recent 10.8 RC2/RC3 are more buggy), 64-bit is required.

Unfortunately, 64-bit crashes often on table loadings (for any .vpx who need 64-bit, like this, or Die Hard Trilogy, and so on), not always, but often, very often... By this way, I've reduced four 8K textures to half size, in order to load the table into VPX 10.8 RC1 32-bit, now working fine since two days. 👍

Wow, really beautiful rendition. This alone might be the inspiration to get into VR, I really want to see this table up close!

Thanks Bord, and Uncle P, you guys are the best!

An already solid table gets a great render and physics treatment. I appreciate all the little things too. It's so thoughtfully done. Thanks Bord! Thanks Uncle Paulie!

This has been one of my favorite tables and I've been hoping to see an update. This blew me away. Bord and Uncle Paulie, excellent work. It plays and looks perfect. It will be my go-to table to show off what the creators in this community can do.

Thank you Bord and Uncle Paulie. That table is fan-freaking-tastic! It looks and plays so life-like. It is hard to tell I am not playing a real pinball machine.
