  1. Shark (Hankin 1980) (no art)

Whitewood of Hankin's "Shark" from 1980.

With no decent Shark art currently redrawn or available I am releasing this to the community for anybody to skin correctly.

Shark (Hankin 1980) built as the base to mod from for Lunar Howl 8 Frozen North. I used the vp6 table by Eala Dubh / TAB/Tinyrodent as a reference. I used the desktop displays from their version, and various scripts from tables by JPSalas, and the VPX starter table. I rebuilt with modern meshes and table components, and rubbers etc. I added manual GI lighting in absence of ROM calls. (I may be wrong but it appeared the Skark rom had static GI)

I have stripped out the LH8FN mods and commented out the LH8FN related script sections.

There may be minor adjustments to make once Shark art is imported (Apron will likely need to be reshaped, bumper caps may need to be changed as these were both done to fit LH8FN.)

I have left the manual GI lighting controls in place (from Frozen North) as shark appears to not have any GI use being on and off with the table. Puritans may wish to disable GI flashing.

    Core Playfield Features for shark
    Drop Targets & Lanes:
Hitting the drop targets on the right and navigating the lanes on the left lights up various playfield features and scoring multipliers.Shark Bite Loop: Features a teeth-lined "shark bite" loop and corresponding playfield plastics to add depth to the aquatic theme.
Flippers: Equipped with 4 flippers to help players navigate the widebody layout.Outlanes: The outlanes are notoriously hungry, making precise ball control essential to keep the game going.

This is NOT intended as a completed table release, as if that wasn't obvious, but some days I don't trust the obvious to be so so that has been said outright.

If you want to do the redraw and complete the table, please be my guest. No permission is needed. But note that the art from the old vp6 table is NOT suitable. It is of a quality reflected by its time, that of 15"crt monitors running at 1024x768 or 800x600 in desktop mode only. Those images will not suffice for VPX on modern rigs.

  4. Spy Hunter (Bally 1984) Physics Sound Hybrid MOD

All credit goes to the original author 32Assassin. Also to Bigus1 for his mod, and to hmueck for his mod to add the VR cabinet and room.

Spy Hunter blends fast flow, controlled chaos, and a surprisingly smooth shooting layout into one of Bally’s most memorable early ’80s tables. Between the upper playfield, hidden ball lock, and constant mission-style callouts, it keeps you engaged without relying on gimmicks.

    Credits for this version:
I added  nFozzy and Fleep, fixed some layout issues and match gameplay to real table @r2z2helped with improving the feel of the physics @studly_do_right improved lighting for better VR experience, other visual enhancements, and identified and resolved missing sound effects @DGrimmReaper added VR backglass digits so VR no longer requires B2S for this table. Adjusted GI lights for VR. Make kicker visible in VR.
There is an optional cheat rubber for the left outlane, configurable in the F12 menu. That left outlane is brutal, so this can help a little. This same rubber mod is also used on the real table. thanks @kellyf for the idea

  6. Surf Champ (Gottlieb 1976) EMU v2.0.1 Hybrid

The weather is warm and the surf is up, dudes and dudettes! Grab your board and hit the beach!

EM Underdogs brings you a completely rebuilt Surf Champ from Gottlieb in 1976 with desktop, full screen and VR, making it a hybrid.
We started with @teisen 2023 mod of Losermans 2018 version, tore it down and completely rebuilt just about everything.
@Silversurfer completely redrew the playfield and plastics in vectors
@burger checked us out on our fleep sounds and nfozzy physics, fine tuning to perfection.
@DGrimmReaper made the VR happen and added the @mcarter78 beachfront boardwalk VR room!
@Cliffy and @teisen did all the scaling, lighting, inserts, bumpers, all the detail stuff that this absolutely gorgeous table deserves
Full changelog shown in the F12 menu.

This table has a few play options available by holding the left flipper a few seconds before starting a game.

There is also a preview of the VR room for desktop users by simply changing line 42. Desktop users also have a separate backdrop available if using a directb2s by changing it in image manager

EM Underdogs hopes you enjoy playing this summertime beauty as much as we do!

  8. Split Second (Stern 1981) Physics Sound VR MOD

Thank you to jpsalas for creating this beautiful table and allowing this mod!

This is a VPX mod of Split Second, a classic widebody focused on precision and timing. Featuring multiple flippers and a layered playfield, it rewards controlled play and accurate shots—true to its name, every move matters in a split second.

This mod was a joint effort between @studly_do_right and myself:
I added nFozzy physics and Fleep sounds studly_do_right did the VR implementation, visual tweaks, and sound polish
Special HUGE thanks to @outhere for verifying DOF functionality after the Fleep conversion. I just can't thank him enough for all his help on every table

    Enjoy!

Note: This is a widebody table, so it shouldn’t fill your entire cabinet screen. Leave a few inches of black at the bottom (shrink vertically) and move the table upward toward the backglass. You won’t notice the empty space during gameplay—and the proportions will look much more natural.

If you want the robot voice:
    Press F6
    Check/Enable talking sound
    Click OK
    Press F3

2nd this table does include the VR assests from Rajo Joey and Solters but they are dissabled and I have no way of testing VR but should be easy to get going.
    Now as for the Update:

  10. Shovel Knight (Original 2017)

Version 1.2.0 has a visual makeover courtesy of JoePicasso, with new ramps, playfield art, apron, desktop background, and 3D models!

This is a VPX original table based on Shovel Knight, the retro-styled platform game released in 2014 by Yacht Club Games.

The left and right magnasave buttons will activate the lower flippers only, allowing stage flipping.

If you do not see a score display, change line 12 of the script to:
    Const bUseBackdropDisplay = True
    Rules

    Modes
Hit any shot to progress toward lighting a mode. The more modes that have been played, the more shots will be needed to light a mode. When a mode is lit, shoot the right saucer which will be lit with a blue shovel.
During modes, hit flashing targets and shots with blue shovels. Doing well in modes will earn medals.
After nine modes have been played, the next mode will be the Enchantress wizard mode, which is a time limited multiball. The better your medals are, the more time you will have in Enchantress mode

    Shovel Knight Multiball
Hit the green S-H-O-V-E-L and K-N-I-G-H-T targets to light locks. Lock two balls under the ramps, then shoot the right saucer which will be lit with a green shovel.
During Shovel Knight multiball, hit the yellow, orange, and red shots for jackpots. Complete the green S-H-O-V-E-L and K-N-I-G-H-T targets to light a super jackpot at the violet shot at the upper playfield hole. The second and third super jackpots will be double and triple super jackpots, but the upper playfield becomes increasingly difficult to access.

    Wanderer Multiball
Hit the bumpers, the spinner, or the upper playfield hole to light Wanderer Multiball at the turquoise shot at the upper playfield hole.
During Wanderer Multiball, hit turquoise shots or targets to build the wanderer jackpot. When the wanderer jackpot is at least 10,000 points, it can be collected at the turquoise shot at the center VUK.
After collecting jackpots from four different wanderers, the next Wanderer Multiball will be a Super Wanderer Multiball.

    Shot Multipliers
Complete the white lights at the inlanes and outlanes to enable a 2X multiplier for 60 seconds at the next shot you make.
When a shot has a multiplier active, the “X” light under the shovel light for a shot will blink. When the multiplier has expired, the “X” light will be lit red, and that shot cannot be multiplied again until all shots have used multipliers.
Multiplying the left loop also affects the scoring for the bumpers. Multiplying the right loop also affects the scoring for the spinner. Any shot that is multiplied counts as two shots towards lighting modes.
The shot that enables the multiplier is not affected by it. If you want to double your super jackpot, the upper playfield hole needs to be doubled before lighting the super jackpot.
After a 2X multiplier has been used on all ten shots, the right saucer will be lit with a white shovel, and shooting it will start Hall of Champions mode. Win Hall of Champions mode by completing all ten shots in time. During Hall of Champions, all shots have a 2X multiplier.

    Combos
Hit consecutive yellow shots to increase the combo value. Collect the combo value at the orange shot at the left loop. After every 12th combo, all combo values will be tripled for 30 seconds.
After scoring at least 60,000 points from combos, the right saucer will be lit with a violet shovel, and shooting it will start the juggling challenge multiball. Win the juggling challenge by locking five balls at the same time.

    Mystery awards
Complete the three red targets above the right saucer to light a mystery award at the pink shot at the center lane.

    Extra Balls
There are two extra balls available. An extra ball will be lit after playing four modes. The mystery award can award lighting an extra ball, and is guaranteed to light an extra ball before the fifth mystery award. Extra balls are collected at the magenta shot at the upper playfield hole.

    Secret Battle
The secret battle will only reveal itself to the true Ace of Spades. The trials you must complete are:
Score at least 125,000 points in Enchantress mode Collect a triple super jackpot in Shovel Multiball Collect a Wanderer jackpot in Super Wanderer Multiball Win the Hall of Champions mode by completing all ten shots Win the Juggling Challenge by locking five balls at the same time
    Acknowledgements
Special thanks to VPForum members sliderpoint for showing how to make a ramp like the right ramp, and cyberpez for the VUK, and JPSalas for several primitives, graphics, and sounds. Thanks to Outhere for DOF testing.

  12. Solar Ride (Gottlieb 1979)

"Solar Ride," released by Gottlieb in February 1979, features a captivating outer space theme  and "vibrant" backglass artwork.  This machine was produced in two versions: an electro-mechanical model and a solid-state version. (this is the solid state version).  Not much to this table, but gameplay is fun and getting bonus early is definitely desirable.  Key strategies include shooting the drop targets to light up the special, managing the bonus multiplier, and utilizing the top left lane for a 2X bonus.  In the F12 instructions, I have other strategy and tips as well.

Thanks to CainArg for providing a playfield scan as well as the cleanup of it.  Then of course thanks to @redbone who scaled it, as well as providing the apron, and upscaling the plastics.

For this table, I updated to the latest VPW standards, physics, alllamps and 3D inserts, backglass for desktop, roth targets, standalone compatibility, sling corrections, optional DIP adjustments, updated flipper physics, VR and fully hybrid, Flupper style bumpers and lighting. Baked GI, walls, and created a playfield mesh for the saucer physics. Many hours were spent studying gameplay videos to match the table shots and action.  I put as much detail into the table as I could... animating the upper gates, all the rubber animations, saucers, etc.

Once again, I've included several options in the F12 menu including various balls, ball brightness, flippers, caps, plastic edge colors, LUTs, and other VR stuff, including LED undercab lighting.

For the ROM... since the latest VPinMAME, there is an error with older Gottlieb System 1 ROMs (they were using a bad "CF" spider chip dump all these years). So, if you download that specific ROM off of Pinball Nirvana... you'll likely get an error.  The "New Fixed ROMs" can be found in the required software section below.  You'll see 17 ROMs in the pack.  solaride.zip is one of them, and you'll need that for this table.

Please NOTE there are several items to consider on the ROM settings:  The default settings for the ROM options are hard coded into the script and are based on the recommended values from Gottlieb for 3 balls.  If you want to change the ROM settings themselves, you need to change the "SetDIPSwitches to 1" in the script, and then use the F6 menu to change. However... I am not able to hard code the ROM menu options.  Typically, there are levels of score achievements that award a free play.  The default ROM has that set to off.  I've included an nvram file you can use that sets that to match the instruction/score cards and Gottlieb's recommendation (170,000, 350,000 and 430,000).  Also, there are settings in the menu to set replays, sound, and HSTD. All this has been done for you in the included nvram file.  I also have instructions in the script on how to change that if you wish to do yourself.

  14. Space Station (Williams 1987)

"This is VPW control to Major Tom, you've really made the grade!"

VPW are proud to (xmas) present Space Station by Williams!
This machine is pretty unique in that it doesn't have inlanes, just slings leading straight on to the flippers, so there's no chance of a respite from the action! It's a bit of a hidden gem if you've not played it before.

Tomate really fancied doing this one and luckily we managed to track down a playfield we could buy to scan (thanks to those of you who donated through our beer me link here or bought something through our merch store!), and as part of developing it he also played with the way we do inserts and flashers and made them look even more special! We honestly think it's one of the best looking machines we've done so far and the light show is something else, especially in multiball.

*WARNING* There are versions of vpinmame where the solenoid sticks on for System 11 games, but the released versions are fine, be warned and check your solenoids are not latching on if you're using a "non release" version.

  15. Star Gazer (Stern 1980)

"Thou art gazing at the brightest star of all."  Star Gazer (Stern 1980) is an addicting game with 3 spinners and concave scoops feeding the flippers. It's fast and lots of points can be achieved with building the values of bonus and spinners.  Even though there were only 869 units produced this is very much a "gotta play again" table.  One of the "best spinner" games out there.

Thanks to apophis for providing a playfield scan to @redbone.  And especially thanks to Redbone for prepping and cleaning the playfield as well as other images, plastics, targets, etc. Also thanks to HauntFreaks for providing the VR backglass images (redraws by Felsi).  And again thanks to Apophis for guidance on blender to bake the metal walls to be shiny, as well as some performance enhancements.

This table was done from scratch placing everything, and implementing the latest VPW (2025) standards, physics, alllamps and 3D inserts, backglass for desktop, roth targets, standalone compatibility, sling corrections, optional DIP adjustments, updated flipper physics, VR and fully hybrid, Flupper style bumpers and lighting. I also baked the GI and interior wood and metal walls.  I've once again studied hours of videos to ensure accurate placement, gameplay, bounces, physics, etc.  Lots of time was spent on getting the spinners timed correctly, and shots matching video play.

I've provided a .nvram file for the ROM menu settings, and I've hard coded the DIP switch settings as usual.

This table is loaded with options in the F12. Various balls, ball brightness, flasher options, flippers, screw caps, plastic edge colors, LUTs, Dip settings, and plenty of other VR stuff, including LED undercab lighting.

Please NOTE there are several items to consider on the ROM settings:  The default settings for the ROM options are hard coded into the script and are based on the recommended values from Stern for 3 balls. I've included an nvram file you can use that sets that to match the instruction/score cards and Stern's recommendation (720,000 and 1,440,000).  I also have instructions in the script on how to change that if you wish to do yourself.

Thanks again to Redbone, Apophis and Hauntfreaks! Also thanks to everyone else from the VPW team that provided testing and feedback!

  17. Stargate

    "What A Rush!"

This started back in 2023 when JLou asked Sixtoe with help to update his fantastic version of Stargate to the latest bells and whistles, the project was put on hold due to having too many projects going on at once until mcarter78 picked it up in August and threw himself at it, then everyone else jumped in and the project actually got knocked out pretty quickly, because we already had fantastic assets from the old table and access to 2 real machines and people who knew them (which really helps!)

We have numbered our version v2.0 to pay homage to JLous original.

  21. Scared Stiff (Bally 1996)

    "Ride The Boney Beast!"

VPW proudly present a table that'll keep you up!
This started about a year ago when Sixtoe got hold of a playfield scan of Scared Stiff and decided to follow through on a long time promise he'd made to make a series of "how to vpx" videos showing how to build a table totally from scratch.
VPW How To VPX on Youtube
It's one mcarter78's favorite tables, so he started to build it in the toolkit and got hold of some of the toys to scan them, Tomate came in to finish the blender side of things, and Apophis came on board to sort out some script things and add the VR bells and whistles.
Cyberpez built a new 3D backglass and Tomate made a new 3D spider for it.
During building it Sixtoe found a bug in VPX and Niwak fixed it, so now all of the flashers work properly and fade nicely now PWM is implemented properly (you'll need a recent-ish vpinmame for this!), and we think you'll enjoy the lightshow
Check out all the options in the F12 menu, which includes the latest and greatest of everything VPW has to offer. Enjoy!

Space Gambler was probably the first SS game by Playmatic.
The backglass artwork depicts elements from the Star Wars movies: the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, and TIE fighter spacecraft. Also depicted is a lady with an unusual helmet seen previously on the backglass of Gottlieb's 1976 'Target Alpha'.
Flippers (2), Pop bumpers (2), Mushroom bumpers (4), Slingshots (2), Drop targets (4), Standup targets (3), Rollover buttons (3), Spinning target (1). 3 or 5 ball play.
