- No discussion of converting VPIN files to Real Pin files are allowed. Source

Hi all, I'm trying to get the spider-man ve (latest vpworkshop version) colour rom to work (smanve_101c). I've grabbed the rom from stern, applied the diff patch by sharkky using the vpucolorRom patcher. Zipped up as smanve_101c and put into the roms folder. renamed the .dat file to pin2dmd.pal & put in the matching rom folder in altcolor as per usual. Made the script change in the table editor to point the correct rom ans saved. When i run the table i get the rom is invalid. I know it's the correct rom as it works before applying the patch. All the game options are correct in vpinmame & i'm running the latest sc version. Any help would be great appreciated. Thanks

Anybody know what happened to Indianapolis 500 color rom?  I believe i had it working in the past, now the colors are off.  I think i got it from this site a few years ago.  I know there's occasional drama with persimmon's and some other things but can't find anything about it.   My cabinet preview video that I made a few years ago has the colors looking great but not anymore.

*Admin Note* - Content packs go against the rules of this community and is a general rule for this whole hobby.  This includes Table packs, rom packs, media packs, etc. This was a rule that you agreed to when registering for this site, and other sites.

Many of us have been doing this for 25+ years...

Just download the files as you need them... Having bulk downloads does not make sense in this hobby. This isn't a simple rom collecting hobby where you just drop your rom into a folder. In this hobby you should be setting up and configuring each game on an individual basis.

I think it is also a kind of romset, and it would be very nice to have all in one place. 

I got tons of gigs of vpt, fpt, romset packs from the net, and can't figure out why is it a problem to get a color romset pack next to the original romsets...

It would be cool to pick up a table for playing and it can be started with colored dmd emulation....not I have to find is it available or not and where....( i sure go after some missing and important, but that is some, not all...)

Back in the 80's & 90's, I was dumping ROMS from various arcade boards for MAME. I then started a job where I had access to almost every single cart based game and eventually I started dumping cart based systems such as NES, SNES, etc. If you collect cart based roms... it's possible that you are using some of my original dumps.  A rom for a console game or arcade game contains everything required to play it. Drop the rom into an emulator folder and you are done.

For pinball simulation (note the word simulation and not EMULATION), you can't simply emulate a pinball machine. Pinball is a completely different beast than other "rom based" collections. While we do EMULATE the code from the pinball machine ROMS, the machine mechanics cannot be emulated. There are several different pieces that have to come together cohesively in order to work.  This requires several different teams/authors working on various parts of a single game.  You have people/teams that specialize in creating the table part. You have other people that specialize in creating backglasses/b2s. You have people that create media files, etc. We are very thankful to have people in this hobby that are willing to use their own personal time to bring this content to us.  

A vpt/vpx or fpt, and other components such as colored roms someone has to physically re-create everything. You can't simply connect a pinball machine to a dumper and dump everything there is. Everything for pinball is manually created. It takes someone, and sometimes teams of people, hundreds of hours to create a single re-creation. You have to have people that can do the artwork, create 3d models, code everything on the table, and more.

For rom colorizations, roms don't color themselves.... Each frame has to be dumped from the original game, taken into an editor where someone manually colors pixel by pixel. it takes tens to hundreds of hours to colorize a single rom.

Of course you can find packs out there.... I can guarantee that every single pack is full of CRAP files, un-necessary files, and all of it is outdated. The only decent pack that is worth a damn is the official pinmame (non-colorized) romset. Everything else is a big waste of space and time. If you are just getting into the hobby; it's just going to cause way more confusion than it's worth. 

Console emulation IS NOT the same as Pinball Simulation!

I manage to know how rom emulation software is working.

I also contributed rom contents to mame developers, but not yet working. (Amatic HU poker rom).

I use emulators from my high school years since about 2005, I started with c64 and NES emulator, and I even played some emulator games on my nokia phone.

I know somebody has to make stuff for download. I also run a computer papers website at retroujsag dot com, it's hungarian, take a look at it if you wish.

So I know how much work each project needs, I scanned about 400 000 pages.

I just wanted to get an all in one(currently existing) colored romset for vpinmame, just for fun and for some random testing.

Now I clicking on each link and getting it manually as I have some time to do it while the daily limit permits me to download.

I hope I can find a set before I finish it manually...

Patch the rom as instructed in the readme file and rename the .dat file to pin2dmd.pal.

Yes, but you don´t need it with the files attached. There is also a diff file in it to patch the ROM
