Jack bot Colorization

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have this real pin, but there isn't any colorization files. No work in progress....So...I dedice to try to do it.

I see ColorDMD colorization for this pin, and it's very beautiful.

I start to convert some attrack frame, starting from "JACK BOT".

PIN2DMD Editor 3.0

PIN2DMD last firmware

Frame Record: from PinMame

However, I noticed that on pinmame the colors of my colorization are different, they are not the ones I associated! I have to try on real pinball to see if I don't have problems with pinmame (I read about someone who couldn't find the corresponding colors but I didn't understand how to solve it...). Stay tuned, thanks!

Some test..
I try to colorized attrack mode for "JACKBOT" labet with same color of backglass.
In the tool (pin2dmd editor v3.0) result are like gif.

But when I put into VPinMAME\Altcolor\jb_10r\
and start VpinMAME I see the color in the image.

A screenshot of my working project.

I also have the real pin, but I haven't disassembled it yet. It would be convenient to try the changes directly from PC with pinmame. Anyone want to try or know the reason for these different colors?

EDIT: In the post the gif don't animate, there is different insert method?

Thanks, after edit I see it... Sorry :)

now let's focus on the color problem :)

Add some information:

I rename the name:

pin2dmd.pal

pin2dmd.vni

Insered here:

C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\Altcolor\jb_10r

same name of rom.

In attach the two file, if someone want to try...

pin2dmd.pal pin2dmd.vni

I just checked your export and generally it works as expected.

The Williams logo scene does not trigger, so there is something wrong with the Keyframe but the

presents trigger is working fine and shows the Jackbot logo like in your gif file.

Did check the "Colorize DMD" checkbox in your pinmame installation ?

Thanks for answer.

I have Colorized DMD checkbox on pinmame.

I remember that I read something about this:

Now I have install

dmdext-v2.2.1-x86.msi

instead 64 bit version and it's WORKS!

Need to check why williams logo there are not triggered, but it's another problems.

Lucky1, thanks you.

EDIT:

I had to understand if the work done with the colors was okay. Probably now it's ok.

I wasn't even sure if I could use all the 64 colour for real pinball. Now I think I still have to study a lot...

For best compatibility better use my version. Download at the end of the first post.

Hi,

some updates:

- Update jackbot PIN2DMD to latest firmware

- Update pinMAME with your dmdext

Ok now "PRESENT JACKBOT" frame are aligned with pinMAME, but for some reason  in this transition I see two type of output:

- pinMAME = "JACK" are with color of "BOT" until frame are completed

- real PIN = much better than on pinmame, but it's still a little noticeable.

I use only colorMask and the two gruop color highlined.

If you're able to send me a fsq export I will test this and also provide dumps. Thanks

Thanks for your help. In detail, what export do you need? I don't understand, it's output from pin2dmd editor? If you need I can send to you the pin2dmd editor project with my dump, scene and keyframe files.
