  5. Playboy (Stern 2002)

This is a re-upload from VPinball.com from 2020 - nothing has been updated or changed, but I wanted it hosted here on VPUniverse.com

    - - - - - - - - - - -

    Playboy (Stern 2002)

    UPDATES: 1.1 - Done in 2020

    - Adjusted plunger to hit the ball on soft releases
    - Fixed Multi-Ball Error
    - Lighting Fixes / Adjustments
    - Raised Flippers Height
    - Adjusted Flipper Angle to match real table
    - New Ball Rolling Sounds
    - Additional New Sounds FX added
    - General Additional Tweaks
    - Additional DOF and SFF enhancements added by Thalamus & ArnGrim

What we thought was going to be a fairly straight forward conversion of a previous VP8 + VP9 version of Playboy (Stern 2002) turned out to basically need a complete rebuild and recreation from scratch.

Using an original playfield blueprint, Rascal meticulously rebuilt the entire table with every detail put in the correct places. All toys and special features were rebuilt from scratch to function properly as well.

Using high-resolution photos taken by a friend of mine the real table, all playfield and plastics images were redrawn / recreated to match as close as possible to the original with minor exceptions of areas that couldn't be photographed without completely stripping the playfield - which was not an option.

Due to some of the real images / graphics used on the original table, such as the centerfold faces in the center of the playfield and all the swappable / interchangeable inserts, that were very low print quality and filled with print DOTS, all real images of the centerfolds and inserts were cobbled together from MUCH BETTER quality PLAYBOY images form the internet.

Many of the insert images were from actual PLAYBOY pictorials published in the magazine, and alternate images that were never published, but were used for this game only. I was able to find 90% of the actual images used, but had to substitute other PLAYBOY images from the same era / year for any we were missing.

That being said - because this table is "all digital" we were able to build in EXTRA images for all the inserts. If you have the script option set to "nudity" - the table will automatically / randomly pick from 5 different nudity sets of inserts that were created for this table. That means you will see different "girls" every time you play the table ... and who doesn't like seeing MORE naked and beautiful woman while playing pinball?

You can change the ALL the insert images for the Peek A Boo, opening Centerfold, Magazine Inside, Spinning Splash Triangle, Tease Door, and Mirror during gameplay by using the LEFT MAGNASAVE button. See below for more info.

Rascal went above and beyond making this table as great as it could be. His skill set and attention to making everything look, work, and play properly (including the GROTTO mirror reflection that never worked on any other prior release) and he deserves all the thanks and credit. Our collaboration was very smooth, easy, and most importantly, fun, especially during this tough time our country  (and the world for that matter) is going through at the moment.

We hope you enjoy the hard work we put in to making this table for the VPX community!

Download includes:  New Wheel Image and BMP AVI for Real DMD + RealColorDMD front end users.

    INTERESTING FACT:
    - - - - - - - - -

Bally / Williams original started development of this table to be part of the Pinball 2000 lineup ... using the same holographic imaging as Revenge from Mars and Star Wars Episode I. That would have been amazing!

After the fall of the company, the pinball's basic design / theme was picked up and released by Stern Pinball. This is why most of the actual PLAYBOY images used in this pinball are from 1998, 1990, and 2000 issues of the Playboy Magazine and NOT from 2001 or 2002 when the table was released by Stern.

    NOTES:
    - - - - - - - - -
You can adjust the Day / Night Cycle slider if you want to make the table appear brighter or darker than how it has been released.

    FEATURES:
    - - - - - - - - -

    - Complete Rebuild of Table
    - Brand New 4k Playfield and Plastics Scan + Recreation
    - Brand New 2k Backglass / Translate Scan + New B2S
    - Complete Toys Rebuild, Features, and Functions
    - 1 Non-Nude Set of Inserts, and 5 Nude Sets of Inserts
    - New Lighting FX to match original table

    SCRIPT OPTIONS:
    - - - - - - - - -

    - Script Option: Centerfold Playfield Lighting: Light Centerfold+Month, Month Only (Default = Centerfold+Month)
    - Script Option: Nudity, Non-Nudity for all Inserts (Default = Non-Nudity)
    - Script Option: Alternate Flipper Appearance / Texture (Default: False ie: Original)

    ADD ONS:
    - - - - - - - - -

    - Use LEFT MAGNASAVE to change Opening Centerfold, Peek A Boo, Playboy Magazine Inside, Splash Spinning Triangle, Tease Door, and Mirror Panel inserts from nude to non-nude and visa versa. There are 5 nude sets of inserts and 1 non-nude. Every time you press the LEFT MAGNASAVE, the table will swap from non-nude to 1 of 5 different sets of nude versions. This feature works during gameplay and when table is in attract mode. Perfect way to immediately hide the nudity from people who might be offended.

    - Use RIGHT MAGNASAVE to turn ON / OFF the main playfield Centerfold Lights. This option is for the centerfolds image + month to illuminate, or just the month. In the original table, it was only the month that illuminated.

    SPECIAL THANKS:
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    - Rascal - for original conversion to VPX and complete rebuild of table, all functions, and features
    - GothGloom + Mary - for all the photos of the real pinball machine
    - Bigus - for lighting and other enhancements
    - Siggi - for some light elements from his previous redraw
    - TAB and Destruk - for the VP8 starting point table
    - Dark - for the spotlight model
    - Zany - for the flasher domes
    - nFozzy - for all the screws and bolts
    - All the wonderful developers who made VPX what it is today

  7. Pinvention's Night of the Living Dead

Since it is about that time of year, I thought that I would reupload my table from Vpinball.
    ---------
    History
    ---------
This original table was a mod done by a company called Pinventions by converting a 1977 Gottlieb Super Spin. Check out the great video on the creation of the table https://pinventions.com/view-my-customized-machines/night-of-the-living-dead/

I didn't want this table to get lost, so I thought that I would do the same. With help from the very talented Loserman, I converted his fantastic VPX Super Spin into Pinventions VPX Night of the Living Dead.  I have also included a pimped out version that Bord was gracious enough to add his talents to tweaking.
    ----------
    Special Thanks
    ------------
To HiRez and Xenonph because they were gracious enough to allow me to use a lot of scripting and music from their Fantastic NOTLD 68' table (so download this table if you haven't already).

  8. Planet Of The Apes

First, I would like to thank Goldchicco for its authorization to modify the "Solar Fire" table

I am very happy to present this table to you as a tribute to the movie Planet of the Apes (1968).

All media files (backglass Topper, Music, Wheel and table) are in the download link on the right blue button !!!

The series began with French author Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel La Planète des singes.
Boulle wrote the novel in six months after the "humanlike expressions" of gorillas at the zoo inspired him to contemplate the relationship between man and ape.
La Planète des singes was heavily influenced by 18th- and 19th-century fantastical travel narratives, especially Jonathan Swift's satirical Gulliver's Travels.
It is one of several of Boulle's works to use science fiction tropes and plot devices to comment on the failings of human nature and mankind's overreliance on technology, though Boulle rejected the science fiction label, instead terming his genre "social fantasy"

  9. Phase II (J. Esteban 1975)

This is a J. Esteban "reskin" of Gottlieb's Spirit of 76/Pioneer/New York

This release wouldn't be possible without the following:

Carlos Guizzo who provided the images of this unique table
Halen who did the redraws needed so this will work in VP

Like all of my releases, hold down the left flipper for 3 seconds when not playing a game to set the options.

ZIP includes a wheel image and directB2S

This is for personal use only. DO NOT include this in any pre-packaged ZIP of tables for commercial/non-commercial products. You know who you are. Just enjoy what is provided for FREE instead of trying to earn a buck from our community's work.
Any mods, require permissions from ALL of the above folks listed as primary contributors for this table.

  10. Post Time (Williams 1969)

Post Time is a classic Williams EM with a feature unique to this game. Beneath the apron is an extended play unit that kicks the ball back into play after a drain when extended play is lit. This is similar to add-a-ball (also a gameplay option on Post Time) except that lights don't reset and the ball comes from below the apron.

Just before the pandemic started borgdog pointed out the extended play feature to me and said how cool it would be to see it in action. I redrew the playfield art and scanned some plastics that I had sitting in a box. Then the pandemic hit and this game languished for a year. It was recently dusted off and scottacus got it scripted and built a new b2s. Thanks to whirlwind for his testing and sound work. Thanks to Wildman for his backglass image. Thanks to wimkujijp for making his previous version of this game which sparked the discussion with borgdog.

Hold left flipper button before game starts for an option menu for game mode, chimes, sound settings, etc.

  13. Pyramid (Gottlieb 1978)

another old, old table from vpinball.com.  This one could really use an update.

This is a 2 player EM version of Gottlieb’s Cleopatra. Cleopatra was available in EM and SS versions, Pyramid is EM only. I ran across an old VP8 jpsalas version of Pyramid on one of those other sites, and  JP was nice enough to share even more of his resources than what was in the table, and with the more recent Cleopatra SS tables that have been done there were plenty of good resources, and I found a decent backglass image on the internet somewhere.  Used JP’s code mostly for play logic, and went off to the races.  I happened to get enough resources to do something I had wanted to do with my Gemini table, and that was make two versions in one, yes TWO!  There is a old, rusty, faded, worn, yellowed version and there is a nice bright shiny version all in the same table.  Borrowed the idea from loserman76 and gnance for the hold down left shift to open the options menu, and let you choose not only number of balls and replay levels, but whether you want to play clean or dirty.

So big thanks to jpsalas, loserman76, gnance and the internet.  Oh yeah and those guys who made VP10.

Thanks also to sliderpoint and hauntfreaks for the vp and graphics help as always.

Hold down left flipper key for options menu when not in a game.

  14. Pinball Pool (Gottlieb 1979)

re-up of my table from vpinball.com

I took on doing this table after I bought a project real Pinball Pool.  I finished getting both running about the same time, and I'm glad I took both of them on, this is a simple yet very fun game.  Shoot the drop targets, clear the A-B-C (hint try to get B on plunge), hit the kick holes to up the bonus, and nail the captive 8-ball.  simple right?

A oddity about this table is that when you hit a drop target on one side, the corresponding one on the other side is knocked down as well.  When playing 3 ball all drop targets do this, on 5 ball only the even numbered ones do.  Press F6 as usual for the rom options.

This table is basically a rebuild of 32assassin's table, thanks to him for the starting point and it's script.  The playfield is a scan of my real machine, thanks to hauntfreaks for putting together all the scan images into one, and for the shadow layer  Starting from a scan made sure everything got put in the right place, and all but maybe 2 posts got moved.  I also added a new plastic image from a scan of my plastics (new set).

  19. Post Time

When Williams released a new 1-player in 1969, the 'Paddock', a variant was built especially for the Italian market: "Post Time". However, the containers full of these flippers were refused by Italian customs. Send back to the US was too expensive. Loontjens, a coin machine operator in The Netherlands saw his chance, and bought the entire lot for next to nothing. And everywhere in the south west of The Netherlands you could find this game.

Because “Post Time” was especially designed for the Italian market there was no credit wheel visible. Instead, a white window had been placed with the text “previous hi score”. So, you could not win a new game but you could win 5 extra balls per ball (Add-a-ball).

An anecdote is circulating about the design. In 1969 Harry Williams was director of the eponymous pinball factory Williams. And Harry was a passionate horse lover. When one of his racehorses lost a race in a very clumsy way, it caused quite a bit of hilarity for Harry's colleagues. (Reportedly, the beast put his four hooves in the sand in the middle of the trail for no reason, and did not want to move forward or backward). Designer Norm Clark and draftsman Christian Marche (RIP) saw the humour in it and retreated behind their drawing boards. The result was Post Time. Harry's horse ended out of time. Reason for disqualification!

  20. Pharaoh - Dead Rise (Original 2019)

UPDATE! Version 1.1 - For those that were experiencing stutter, this version takes care of that. Plus, smoother animations! Thank you rothbauerw for the overhaul.
The Mighty Pharaoh has long been dead and the decades, centuries, and ages that have passed were like
whispers in the wind, sifting through the sands of time. With quiet strength, the Pharaoh's tomb did
stand in solemn testimony to the mighty ruler of Egypt, but alas, since then, the dark side of what once
was has revealed itself inside the tombs.
His people believe that this dark presence is none other than the Pharaoh himself, risen from the dead, in
some form, to exact revenge on all who enter. As for the skeptics? Well, let's just say that they have all
mysteriously "disappeared", lost forever, inside the tombs.
So.. do YOU dare enter the Mighty Pharaoh's tomb.. again? Be warned, for this is PHARAOH - DEAD RISE!
    Thank you to:
*xenonph & *HiRez00 for the awesome PF skull which inspired me to create this!
*JP Salas for creating the script for the torch flickers and your awesome knowledge!
*BorgDog for suggesting to try flashers. Never used them before and now I can't stop! lol
Pharaoh is a great table but I wanted to create a bit more sinister version, adding a little
more fun, to an already exciting table. I researched through videos online trying to replicate
the best I could for most of the aspects of the real machine. I hope that I honored it well.
Thank you again for allowing me the privilege to share my work here.
I hope you all have as much fun playing it as I did making it.
Don't forget about the end game bonus with 2 or more players, and of course the MAGNA-SAVES!
PHARAOH - DEAD RISE uses the standard rom pharo_l2.
    Enjoy!
    Your friend in Pinball,
    Watacaractr
Note: Pharaoh - Dead Rise is designed as a 5 ball table. After installing you'll notice that the
default is 3 balls. You can change it to a 5 ball game, or change other things, by adjusting
    the Williams 7 System...
    1. Press 9 to enter diagnostic mode. The displays should go blank when you
       enter this mode.
    2. Press 8 to enter test mode.
    3. Press 7 and then press 8 to see 01 in the credit display.
    4. Continue to press 8 until you see 04 in the credit display and 30 in the
       match/ball in play display.
    5. Press and hold the 1 key to select the number of balls you want. The value
will increment by 1 while you are holding in the 1 key. When you reach the
number of balls you want to set it to, release the 1 key. (NOTE: If you
want to lower the value, or if you pass the value you wanted, release the
1 key, press and release the 7 key and then press and hold the 1 key. The
value will then decrement by 1).
    6. Press F3 to save your changes and reset the table.

  21. Playboy (Bally 1978) MOD

    Playboy (Bally, 1978) MOD v1.2
    by djredick/DJSpeedy
This is my first mod in years (quite literally).
The thought behind this mod was to see if I could get the scoring displays to look a bit
more "realistic", and since I had PacDude's scoring reels, I decided to try it with a
    modified LED strip.
I think the results turned out pretty good.
I also tried to fix the "Object doesn't suport this property or method" error by reimporting
the fx_ballrolling0 sound.  While this did change the vol value from -1 to 0, it did not get
    rid of the error.
    v1.2 changelog
' Added the proper LED comma displays
' Resized the LED displays to cover more of the black area of the scoring reels
' Raise the brightness of the LED numbers for better readability
