Surf 'n Safari (Gottlieb 1991) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
This video is made from the logo on the game's backglass, plus a video of someone riding a waterslide at Dreamworks Water Park that I've run through a watercolor/cartoon filter. The music is the game's main theme.

Pirate Gold (Chicago Coin 1969) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
This video is built from the game's backglass. I took advantage of the recent revival of interest in seas shanties to find a nice version of "Blow the Man Down" by the Longest Johns to use as the music.

Olympics (Gottlieb 1962) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
This video is made from the game's backglass. The music is the theme for the 1964 Olympics in Japan as used by the BBC. This was the earliest Olympics that I could find that had its own theme, but I guess this was probably the one that was on the minds of the designers in 1962.

FJ (Hankin 1978) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
This video is made up of some heavily edited elements from the game's backglass, along with some stock video of glass breaking. The audio is taken from a video I found of a restored Holden FJ that's been modded with a twin turbo setup. It sounds appropriately aggressive.

Victory (Gottlieb 1987) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
Ah, yes, 1987. The heyday of Formula 1 as bloodsport, when cars were equipped with heavy machine guns to take out the competition.
You know, I had never noticed until I started working on this video that the machine guns were part of the table's theme. It doesn't really have any effect on the game play, as far as I can tell. But even if the guns are inconsequential, I've been looking for an excuse to learn how to use DaVinci Resolve's motion tracking capabilities, though, so this seemed like a good time to do so.
This video is made from the game's logo taken from the backglass and 1987 footage of Ayrton Senna doing a practice lap in Monaco with an on board camera. There is a gap in the footage just before the point where this video starts, so there isn't a lot of time to establish what's going on before the gunfire. I used DaVinci's built-in motion tracking to make the explosion follow the path of the car. I was very impressed with how easy this was to do, even with less-than-ideal footage. I only had to make one small manual edit to the path. I was also fortunate that the confines of the 9x16 screen ratio allowed me to make sure the explosion was off screen before it got too weird-looking. The music and the voice sample are taken from the game. The machine gun and explosion sound effects are stock audio.

Class of 1812 (Gottlieb 1991) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
For this video, I leaned into the idea that the monsters might actually part of a high school class and that the game is maybe about a reunion. It's a little anachronous that there would be a yearbook with photos from 1812, but hey.
The video is made from element of the game's backglass, converted to sepia tone for use in this imaginary yearbook. The music is, of course, Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1, which has accompanied only god knows how many graduation ceremonies since Edward Elgar wrote it in 1901.

Blue Note (Gottlieb 1978) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
"Blue Note, with it's Sparkling, Topical Disco Theme"
I don't think anybody involved with this game had actually been to a disco. The visuals look very pre-disco to me. But hey, let's pretend.
This video is based on the game's backglass, for which I went to considerable trouble to decompose into separate layers. The music is Blondie's Heart of Glass, which is one of my favorite songs from this era, so I used it even if I don't think the two yahoos on the backglass would actually be playing this song.

Evel Knievel (Bally 1977) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
This video can be used for either the EM or SS versions of this machine.
This video is made from the game's backglass, plus footage of Knievel's jump over 13 busses at Wembley stadium in 1975, an event that is referenced in the backglass along the top during which Knievel broke his pelvis and still walked out of the stadium. The audio is a combination of the sound from the event as televised on ABC and the track "Daredevil" by Stellar. I especially like the "Oh my God!" at the end.

El Dorado City of Gold (Gottlieb 1984) - Loading
By cerebusk
Format: 1080p60
I've now made a loading video for all six variations of this table layout that Gottlieb made over the years. El Dorado City of Gold is the most recent and only SS version.
The video is made from the game's backglass and uses the weird rhythmic audio from the game as well. The opening, distant view of the city is a digital artwork by Brian Giberson. The voice overs are AI simulations of Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider) and <gulp> Tucker Carlson, which was the only AI voice I found that pronounced the word "right" as a question. Go figure.
