"It's The Biggest Game In The World!"

VPW are proud to present World Cup Soccer '94 from Bally. This one has been kicking around for a good few years, a few people looked into converting Knorrs fantastic version to our latest physics including Sixtoe and RobbykingPin, especially as it didn't work properly in VR as a hybrid version. However due to it being constructed on a different scale none of our normal physics maths worked, so it always sat in the "too difficult" pile to do properly.

That is until one day mcarter78 decided to break the seal and rebuild the table from scratch in VPX, roping tomate (our resident football fan) into building it in the blender toolkit where he rescaled the 3D modeling by Knorr and added / updated various bells and whistles, and replaced all the textures, then everyone else piled in and did their thing, with Sixtoe messing with everything and making the table work fully physically (#savetheballs), and DGrimmReaper and DaRdog working on the VR side, and apophis did script things that no-one else understood.
Astronasty has access to a real one so we got to side by side test it to get it as close to the real one as possible in VPX.

Enjoy!

Team VPW
mcarter78 - Captain
tomate - Striker
Sixtoe -  Forward
apophis - Winger
DaRdog - Midfielder
DGrimmReaper - Defender
RobbyKingPin - Goalkeeper
Astronasty - Ball

Based on original recreation by Knorr and Clark Kent.

Testing - pinstratsdan, bthlonewolf, nestorgian, bountybob, hauntfreaks, chugalaefoo, cl4ve, Studlygoorite, leojreimroc, DaRdog, redbone, hauntfreaks, colvert.

Please note: The table has 4x button triggers on the playfield, the ball is *supposed* to be affected by them if it hits them, especially when they're hit slowly, tested side by side with the real machine.

You guys have set the bar so high that there's no longer any surprise when something looks as fucking amazing as this. What I love about your tables more than anything though is the attention to detail and the drive to create something that plays as close to the original as VP can possibly get. The reaction of the ball on the rollover buttons is just so good and you've even managed to recreate the way the ball can reject often from the scoop - that difficulty on the Final Draw shot is one of the things that makes this game, and you've absolutely nailed it.

Running out of superlatives for these reviews - this is unreal art and I hope the whole team (and other creators) realise how much joy they're providing to lots of people with their hard work and talent. Huge thanks.

We are now deep into extra time, there is, what looks like one last chance for Team VPW to get the winner..The ball is passed out at the back from RobbyKingPin to DGrimmReaper, who finds DaRdog in midfield near the centre, he manages to pass it out to the wing to apophis as he skillfully loses his marker with a nice piece of footwork, apophis makes the run down the wing as the crowd start to stand up and cheer, is there one last hope, the ball is passed to the outside of the box to Sixtoe but is pressured straight away by the opposition but he manages to find his captain mcarter78 who shows great skill with a nutmeg and makes a delightful pass back to Sixtoe who has now found some space on the box, the crowd get even louder as they see tomate make a dart forward who recieves a pertectly timed through-ball, he's onside with only the keeper to beat, he shoots..he SCORES!! GOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLL! Team VPW have done it they have done the impossible and scored in stoppage time to win with an masterclass team goal and surely, a contender for goal of the season. What a goal, what a team, no wonder they are favourites for the treble, I can't see this team being beaten the quality they have in their side is just too good. The crowd are still celebrating as the players surround tomate near the corner flag as they stand and celebrate to the all the travelling fans who made it here tonight. Electricfying scenes here, i'm sure the celebrations will contiune well into the night...

Here I was thinking the version I had looked great and played fine…but damn, this is on another level in every way. Absolutely beautiful and plays like the real thing.

One of the best virtual tables I've ever seen. Fun, exciting and challenging all at the same time. As I said on VPC Discord, "If anyone hasn't played it, it's worth a go to test your skills and perseverance. Some things are never easy in pinball."

Very well done VPW team and many thanks for your hard work!

VPW - more masterpieces than an art museum

How is it you guys manage to take a table that I thought was a bit 'meh' and didn't really care too much for, and come up with a digital recreation of it that makes me love it, want to play it and want to learn the rule set

What a couple of months with this, Scared Stiff, Creature from the black lagoon, Game of Thrones etc - we are being spoiled beyond belief

thank you to all involved - just incredible work and attention to detail

It's a tremendous work as usual from VPW, with some incredible attention to detail. However, as in their "Medieval Madness" table, the playfield might be a little washed out/grey and a bit unclear compared to some others. I can't believe it's accidental so I assume it's done to more accurately represent a real table?

However, it just doesn't look as good as to me and the playfield is a large part of the experience. Again, this is just my subjective opinion - this approach may well be the best for accuracy or something I'm too new to understand.

EDIT: Attached a photo from a real table for comparison

This is one of those tables from my childhood that I was only able to play a few times. With that said, it's also one that I always cherished in my brain. You must admit, there is no other table like it. It's fast, the call outs are crazy fun, you vs the goalie, the mechanical ball, and the smooth ramps?! This thing was gorgeous in person.

This is one of the first tables I tried last year when I started my VPX project. Needless to say, a very high bar was set, and it's not a bar that many can touch. This table looks so real. Pancake, or VR. You guys also added an extra minimal VR setup, which my FPS loves. My RTX2060 doesn't care for VR rooms. One day I'll upgrade, but until then... GOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!

Thank you all team for such a great creation. You've made many nostalgia freaks very happy I'm sure. If not, I sure love the heck out of it!!! :)

Malgré le temps, le plaisir de jouer reste intact pour cette table

GeoCherry

This machine is absolutely fucking gorgeous. It continues to be the most realistic looking table I've played yet, bar none. Not to mention the physics are incredibly accurate. It's just as difficult as the real thing! I can't wait for my build to be done so I can see this in VR!!

A masterpiece that deserves a prime spot in everyone's library.

NerdLoftGaming

Going through my setup, and checking if any of my favorite tables received an update -- lo and behold, this little table got the VPW treatment last year. Thanks!

Korg82

The master class in awesomeness strikes again!!

Incredible table now! One of my favs!

Thank you, talented, brilliant folks, once again! 🤩

moulfritt

This is a table i used to play a lot back then
Although the previous version was gorgeous, i wasn't satisfied with the physics.
Now this version is perfect , like all other team creation, the amount of details brought is simply amazing, the lighting, the goal moving, ssf and the physics are top notch
Thank you for your amazing work

kbboard

Thanks VPW! Visually stunning, and still so much fun to play with this table!!!

PasAppie

Wow! it is awesome the lighting is perfect love it

silver_balls

This is the first virtual pinball machine I've seen where it actually looks like REAL LIGHT BULBS on the table.

PLEASE make sure this is the new standard for making virtual pinball in the future!

Genelec

One of my favorite tables and made in VPW! What else you can ask for?

Nice high res art and everything plays well.

scoobie1

Just a fantastic build. Table is super fun to play and your version is so close to the real table.
