"And now, on with the show!"

VPW proudly present this monster of a table! This has been the machine cooking for longest in VPW, dating back to August 2020! It went through a few tweaks and iterations until everything was totally scrapped when we got a new playfield scan and Sixtoe scratch rebuilt it in 2022, and Niwak built it in the what was then brand new blender toolkit as he wanted to to test fancy overlapping transparent ramps.
After doing everytihng, we realised the whole table has been built on slightly the wrong scale and were sad, Niwak then got distracted by updating vpinmame so the ramp lights worked properly and then completely rewriting vpx and vpinmame, and Sixtoe got distracted by a squirrel (this happens more than you'd expect).

Then at the start of May '25 Apophis held Sixtoe upside down over the vpw swamp and said "are you gonna finish this or what? what we have is better than not having one!" and brought it up to date with mcarter78 and FrankEnstein, and here we are, finally with a release!

Check out the original swampy VR room and all the options in the F12 menu, which includes the latest and greatest of everything VPW has to offer. Enjoy!

The ramp running lights work in all versions, but they'll look a bit prettier in the newest pinmame (3.7.0.43) as correct emulation of the special pcb has now been added by Niwak.

Spectacular. Many in the real pin world knew me as THE CFTBL fan. This update compares nearly dead on to the real one sitting next to me here in my garage. My buddy Steve C and I were the first to make colored chase and whirlpool lamps by using stained glass lacquer and baking the tiny #86 bulbs in my oven. Steve Tsubota surprised me one year with a Christmas card. Back then they were a complete surprise for anyone who received one and boy was I surprised. 12 layers of lenticular 3D, backlit, score card awesomeness. I'd say these are the only mods missing from your beautiful update :)

I'm thrilled to read the list of contributors. Top drawer VP builders all! Even the testers are the highest caliber in the hobby and many are builders themselves!

Thanks so much, guys. You really do wow us every single time

Damn you VPW dudes; I needed to get to sleep early today.  Well it’s early , it is 3am!

but noooo! Instead I saw this was released, downloaded it to give it a quick spin and insert the SpongeBob meme, it’s 3 friggin hours later! And now since all I can think about is this table, it’s making me wonder why it’s so great and I guess my review could not wait

But what can I add that anyone hasn’t already?

- be amazed at the graphics !

- the playability will shock you!

- the VR room will startle you!

the look and feel is top notch.  The light show is incredible and shows off once more the improvements in VPM emulation.

and now a tangent…  Special kudos to VPW for understanding how important it is to have a pin that challenges you. I find over the years we have had very good CFTBL tables. Heck I remember what, 15-16 years ago, the legendary Scapino had released a version that looked incredible and for its time and limitations of VP itself, it was very fun to play.  But it as well as each versions released that I have tried all had a weakness : they were too easy.  They were fun to play but eventually I’d move on and wouldn’t revisit them as often as maybe I should (and again these were superb tables). This is not a CFTBL problem, many excellent VPX tables are easier than the real life table. This is a real table vs simulated table issue.  Or is it?

For me, pinball is meant to be challenging so that when you get a decent game, you feel you achieved something and when you get a REAL good game, you feel like the king of the universe. This table after a few spins is giving me the same “damn it” SDTM results that ALWAYS feel like it was my own damn fault (and reflect the original intent from the Bally designer).   I finally got a real good ball and that sense of achievement and accomplishment was there, just like when I played the real thing.  So maybe there are real differences of course between a real table and a sim, but in the hands of the VPW geniuses, once again we see its a little harder to see the wizards behind the curtain

Getting off my soapbox, I guess I will end my review with once again sincere thanks for this gem and gift to the community .  I don’t know if we are worthy but this is one of the top classic dmd tables of its era and we are damn lucky to have such a simulation.

This is everything I hoped for—VPW has set a new standard and continues their tradition of putting out something every bit as good as the original! CFTBL is the most beautiful table I've had the pleasure of playing in VR and it plays flawlessly. It really feels like the physical table. Combined with altcolor, altsound, and HF's new incredible backglass, we're all so spoiled! What a time to be playing vpin ❤️

I've played Creature from the Black lagoon so many times over the years, especially Zen's Pinball FX2 Classic Arcade version. In VPX, there has never been a great version. VPW decided it was finally time to bless us with their rendition. It looks stunning and plays so well. Don't be fooled though into thinking that you'll be able to play the similar rinse-and-repeat type of game as you did in FX. With the physics the most realistic ever, and especially that Snack Bar scoop (you'll see what I mean when you play 😉 ), this is now quite the challenge!

Thank you VPW, as always, for your huge contribution to making this the best hobby ever. Thank you also for giving me the change to do my bit of contributing to your wonderful work.

Wow! This one is a real treat, one of those elusive games that I wish I could own but have never seen come up for sale... But now, its amazing to have a version of this game that plays like a brand new Creech - also because this is one of the only pinball games my wife will play with me 🤣

I also finally have a perfect version of this game that I can show off with my mini CFBTL cabinet build - a real win-win-win for me 😁

Thanks to everyone in the team - old members and newer, who helped bring this to where it is! Goes without saying but - ITS INCREDIBLE! 🤯

I moved my car, and so should you! This rendition of CFTBL is simply perfection. I have some great memories playing the real machine in the dark and cigarette filled backroom of the local video store. When renting a movie, you would often hear that angry MOVE YOUR CAR! shoutout. I can honestly say, that this VPW editon  brings all those memories back. Because this feels and plays JUST like that original machine. Even the creepy hologram image of the the creature feels like it's about to swim right   at you. Running a mediocre PC I was also able to to adjust some of the graphical features  in the F12 menu, and now the table runs just PERFECTLY!   Please do yourself the favor  of adding the beautiful color serum done  by @ebor.  Thank you for another MASTERPIECE @VPinWorkshop I´m in AWE!

This table is pure digital pinball excellence!

VPWs Creature from the Black Lagoon looks phenomenal. The lighting, detail, and overall visual polish are top-tier. The physics feel exactly how they need to, responsive, challenging. Every shot matters, and that Snack Bar scoop feels greaat

The colored DMD by Ebor adds amazing depth and energy, while Hauntfreaks’ backglass is the perfect finishing touch , crisp, stylish, and authentic.

Huge credit to the VPW team. This isn’t just a visual upgrade , it’s one of the best, most faithful recreations ever made.

All people working on vpin in one way or another bring loads of joy to my house.
Thank you all!!!!

One of those moments when you're playing in VR where you forget it's not a real table. Just an amazing rendering of the pinball experience.

PROS:

I am only playing in VR, with that said.

I can't believe how amazing this looks.

Everything is so clean and crisp.

The best part I see no jaggies!

It plays amazingly.

it's been a min since I got into this table, but now I'm back at it.

I also like to play tables scaled at 200 cm, this really lets you "get into" the table and see the detail as you play.

NEGATIVE(s):

VPW Team gonna cost me a divorce... 😜

Thanks again guys for yet another amazing table🍻

I was just telling my wife that there needed to be a new version of this table! Wow! This is beyond stunning! The physics add a new challenge -- yet the flips are a lot smoother and I can hit the side orbits a little easier. I love the ramp lighting and the new light shows. What a beautiful table. You guys have outdone yourselves again. This is the best work on an old-school Williams table since T-Zone!

This table is neat.

More words to describe the table would be a waste of time.

You should check it out for yourself.

The only thing I can say is that my rom file works perfectly with this version. The Move your Car sequence would blank out on the other versions of the table I was playing.

This adds a bit of a bigger smile on my face when I play the table (and say neat.)

For reference:

🙂 -  this is how I felt the first couple of times I played the table without doing "Move your Car."

😀- this is how I felt after seeing the "Move Your Car" part working perfectly.

Kind of like the Mastercard commercial..... priceless

AWESOME! I know what I will be doing all weekend now! hahaha. Um...I guess I will scrap that video I was making about tables that desperately need to be updated to today's standards, LOL. #1 Walking Dead (done), #2 Creature From the Black Lagoon (done), #3...! or maybe I'll keep it and include footage of the newer versions. This table is awesome, and i have been playing it in real life quite often lately. BEAUTIFUL JOB! Love it.
