Hi all !

I'm very excited and pleased to share with you the first release of a serum colorization project !
As you might know, it's a new open source format for DMD colors than will be able to run on Virtual DMD and devices.

I would like to thank @zedrummer who develop the file format and the tools to use it, @ebor @peskopat @KRAKEN who are the early birds like me working on the format and spending hours debugging and improving the tools with zedrummer !

SPECIAL THANKS to @PastorLUL and @KRAKEN who worked on the last update correcting many glitches and enhancing the quality of this colorization !

Sharkeys Shootout (Stern 2000) Serum Format

Here's my original colourisation for Sharkeys Shootout, in Serum Format!
This was just a side project that I am very happy I was able to finish. Adding colours to these roms really makes them stand out - I hope you enjoy playing as much as I have enjoyed creating this.
Thanks to everyone on the Serum Discord as always.
Place the cROMc file into your Altcolor/shrkysht directory.

⚠️ Prerequisite: ⚠️

DMDExt v2.5.0 must be installed. This version includes the new Serum library v2.6.0, which is required to use this colorization. HERE
You must delete the serum.dll and serum64.dll files that may be present in the VPinMAME directory if they are older than v2.6.0.
Ensure using latest C++ distr. : https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe
VpinMAME also needs to be updated to 3.6

*note - I am aware that the settings menus isnt entirely finished - this in in works - as its more frams than the game itself!

Star Wars (Data East 1992) (Serum Colorisation)

Hello everyone! Today I’m releasing a colorized version of the Data East *Star Wars* ROM.

There is still a bit of work to do, but since I had announced a summer release, I decided to put out this version—which I’d say is about 90% complete.

The high-score scroll isn't colorized yet, and the Stormtrooper shooting sequence isn't fully colorized;

there are still a few bugs here and there, but rest assured that this ROM will receive one or two updates before the end of the year.

For now, I’m off on vacation I hope you enjoy this colorization! Happy flipping to the whole community!

I want to thanks all the Serum community, specialy Kraken for the help on the AT-AT scene.

May the Force be with you, young Padawan!

Table: Star Wars (Data East 1992) VPW - VPX - Pinball Tables - Virtual Pinball Universe

DMDext version 2.4.0 is required to run these .cROMc files.
Latest VPinMAME 3.7.x is recommended (VPinMAME-3.7.0-222-8133307)
Any serum dll file need to be removed from the VPinMame folder to ensure compatibility.

Street Fighter II - SF2 - Serum color file

Hi all,

I'm happy to share a new SERUM color file... Street Fighter 2 !!
This one is special for me as I started, years ago, training on colorization with @malenko project files of Street fighter 2... !

Time as passed, and I'm proud to share a more modern colorization with backgrounds, thousands of colors, full screens.. But I kept some of Malenko original animations that I enjoyed ! Thanks to him to allow me to reuse them.
I hope you will enjoy this relaease, and if you happen to find bugs, erros or missing frames (I'm sure there are), don't hesitate to share your feedback !

Tested on libserum 2.6
vPINMAME 3.7.0-222 - ensure using latest C++ distr. : https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe

Stargate - SERUM colorization - 65K - Multi-language

Let's visit another Galaxy !!

A long awaited project has finally landed in SERUM format : Stargate !
I finally finshed this colorization (or I hope), I hope you will enjoy.

I debated using videos from the movie or keep the old fashion pixel look of our DMD... and I finally kep the pixels ! The animated scenes are not so numerous and even if the first tries with the movie were great, the overall atmosphere was ackward !

As usual, if you happen to see a bug, do not hesitate to report it.

It was developed on :
- vPinmame 3.7 using latest cpp file.
- Freezy DMD ext 2.5 with libserum 2.6 embedded

You can set the ROM in English, French or German !
To set the language, you can enter the ROM menu by hitting the HOME button, then the "test button" (binded "7" by default) and navigating in the game options.

Super Mario Bros (Gottlieb 1992) - Serum Format

Here’s my colorized version of this really cool table 😉

Purists, feel free to look away 😅. I made something that I liked above all else, and I had a lot of fun doing it.

Thanks to the Serum community on Discord, and thanks to @mk47 for the new features added to the format.

The smb3.cROMc file must be placed in the altcolor\smb3 directory. This directory should contain only this file.

The colorization works with the smb3 rom in English.

Sopranos SERUM Colorization

I am pleased to share my Serum colorization of The Sopranos (Stern 2005). Took me 150 hours for this one and I hope you will enjoy it.

Requires DMDEXT 2.4.0 or newer. Also use the latest Serum DLL that supports .cROMc and it's advanced features: Serum DLL latest release

Sega X-Files SERUM DMD Colorization

The truth is out there... apparently.

After ~80 hours of work, I am happy to share my X-Files Serum colorization. The colors I used work well with Siggi and Ejse83's table mods.

To enable HD content, make sure to add the following to your DMDDevice.ini file:

[xfiles] scalermode = Doubler or
[xfiles] scalermode = Scale2x

Star Trek: The Next Generation (Williams 1993) - SD 65K Colors

Please note: This Serum colorization was developed and tested on both virtual and real tables to ensure accurate color depth and optimal performance. However, for real tables, this applies exclusively to ZeDMD <> PPUC/DMD displays. Use with any other hardware solution is strongly discouraged. Videos and user reports have shown reduced frame rates and poor color output specifically on PIN2DMD. Please be aware that these issues are not caused by Serum itself, but by the hardware/software limitations of PIN2DMD.

Star Wars Trilogy SERUM (OG/Purist Edition)

I'm happy to share my Star Wars Trilogy colorization in Serum format. This is the OG/Purist version where every frame has been hand colored (the digitized movie sequences were NOT FUN! 🥵). This project took me ~150 hours.

At a minimum, you will need the Serum DLL file version 2.2.0 (released June 10th 2025) for this colorization as it uses dynamic sprites. Simply download and drop it in your vPinMame folder.
