Fun Cruise (Bally, 1966) JB
By Silversurfer
Complete Touch up of a very nice back glass. When I took the attached picture at the PHoF in Vegas, I did not notice that this is a flipperless game! Based on my short research, these games were mainly made as spare parts sources for Bingo machines. Due to some strange laws back then, shipping of Bingo parts over some state ines was illegal, but shipping of this kind of game with many parts used also in Bingo games not. I don't if this is really true, but's an interesting story anway.

Big Hit (Gottlieb, 1977) JB
By Silversurfer
Another touch up with only some vectors. Even when I no idea about Baseball, I like that back glass. The Artwork by Gordon Morison is nice!
I've taken the base picture at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas. Original picture attached.

Lucky Ace (Williams, 1974) JB
By Silversurfer
This is very rough(!!) touch up with some vectors. First I didn't want to upload it, since I'm totally unhappy with the quality, but it's still better than most of the pictures of this game you can find in the net. I took the picture at the PHoF in Vegas, but I was not close enough, the resolution was crap and I didn't take any pictures of the details. I also could not remove the complete distortion caused by the camera lens. And, even worse, there are still some parts which are not finished... But you can not totally delete a file here (at least I don't know how). I will not upload a new version, cause I deleted my orignal after uploading (Like I said, I was not happy with the result), so sorry for that.
Please see the original picture attached. The playing cards are just a complete mess in the original picture, so I did what a very bad poker player would do, I changed all 5. I couldn't find cards completely matching the ones on the Back Glass, another point, which makes me feel bad. I promise to make better pictures next time I'll go to Vegas (soon!!) and re-do it as total vector graphic. Original art by Christian Marche.

Full (Recreativos Franco, 1977) JB
By Silversurfer
Another rough and dirty touch up. This games was made by "Recreativos Franco" a Spanish manufacturer. For export outside Spain the company called itself "Interflip". I think, back glasses like this caused the American manufactures to show "Winners don't use drugs" on their displays in the late 80s. Original Artist not known.

Hi-Score Pool (Chicago, 1971) JB
By Silversurfer
Completely re-drawn as vector graphic by me.
Another back glass with art by Christian Marche. Quite a different style compared to his other work I did so far. I already started this one 2 months ago, but did not have the patience to finish it. I'm normaly working on 5 or back glasses at the same time, but everytime I re-started to work on it, I stopped after 15 minutes, no idea why. But I did not want to leave it unfinished, so here we are. I played the game (and took the picture) at the Pinball hall of fame in Vegas last year and found it to be very strange. But it's a Christian Marche design, so I had to do it.

Faces (Sonic, 1976) JB
By Silversurfer
Mix of vector and touch-up.
I do not remember to have played the one, even when Spanish pinballs were quite popular in the 70's here in Germany. But I do not remember Sonic. I played many games made by Reccel, Playmatic and EuroFlip. The graphic of this one is a little weird, but during working on this, I started to like it a little(!!) bit. Most pictures found in the net were faded, but I hope, I matched the colors.

The Wiggler (Bally, 1967) JB
By Silversurfer
Completely re-drawn as vector graphic by me.
Another great back glass with the fantastic art of Jerry Kelley. Not many good pictures around of this one.
This is one of the glasses, which was also available in German, but the German version is just called "Wiggler". I'm pretty sure the guys in Chicago had a hard time to translate the "The". In German it could be "der, die or das" depending if the subject is male, female or neutral. None of these make really sense, if you don't translate "Wiggler". Wiggler is "Wackler" in German, so this wasn't an option. But since there is a lady shown, climbing a ladder, they would have to use the female form "Die", but then the would have to be consequent and say "Die Wigglerin", which could confuse some Enlish speakers, why shoud she die? I think at that moment someone said, "Let's just delete the "The"!" And everyone was happy and ready for a beer....
Vectro view attached.

Capersville (Bally, 1966) JB
By Silversurfer
Completely re-drawn as vector graphic by me. Another classic made by Jerry Kelley. Looks simple, but took me quite a while to complete. I think, this an awesome back glass. Color selection and the graphic itself are just great in my opinion. Even after some hours for re-drawing I still don't understand it... The hand holding the screen in the lower right part is a right hand, but the lady already has a right hand (at least, it looks so) Whose hand is that? Is the man in front of the lady or behind? There is a lot of overlapping, just look at the hat of the guy. And why is there a dead body floating around? Nevermind, this is just a very cool back glass! There are not many of good pictures of this BG in the net, and the better ones show the German version. Even me, as a German, I think, that a pinball back glass needs to be in English. German just looks stupid here, even when it is a very beautyfull, easy to learn language... 🙂

Campus Queen (Bally, 1966) JB
By Silversurfer
Oh boy, this was a tough one... When I started it, I was thinking "fun job for an evening", but I spent far more hours than expected. I was wondering about the strange color scheme on the picture I used (see below). I also noticed, some missing parts in the base picture. So I did some research. There are not too many pix of that game out there, but I learned pretty fast, that the picture I was using was totally faded. The result is a mixture of vectore and bitmap job (30/70%), but I also did a lot of drawing on my iPad. I think, I now know the name of every brick on this BG. I didn't like the BG very much, but in my opinion it looks pretty nice with all the colors being restored. IPDB doesn't mention an artist, but he did a good job! This was quite a lot of work, but big fun!

Touch up of a real great back glass. I don't know, if anybody is doing these old games as VP, but I think this is a real beauty. I had to do it! Original art by George Molentin. Fanstastic work, George!!

Airport (Gottlieb, 1969) JB
By Silversurfer
Touch-up with some vector parts. "Airport" is the 2 Player version of "College Queens", which I uploaded some days ago. I think, "College Queens" is an extremely ugly back glass, but I really like this one! Artist is again Art Stenholm. Too bad, that there are nearly no 1 or 2 player games in Germany. This one would be a keeper. Game play is nice. First time usage o vario targets.

Mustang (Chicago Coin, 1964) JB
By Silversurfer
Another combo of vector and touch up. I think, this a a great back glass! IPDB doesn't mention the artist, but this is a winner! Based on a picture I took at the PHOF end of last year. Tim sometimes puts stickers on the back glasses to give some info about the game (which is nice, but please not ON the BG!!), so I had to find some other pics to add the missing parts. Attached is the original picture.

Big Deal (Williams, 1977) JB
By Silversurfer
Another competitor for the trophy of the ugliest pinball back glass ever. Don't know who did the original art, IPDB doesn't mention it and I don't care. It's a touch-up only, I did not want to spend 20h+ on a vector version. But this was one of the games I fixed lately, so I could take some good pictures and had to do at least a touch up, in case someone here needs the back glass for a VP.

College Queens (Gottlieb, 1969) JB
By Silversurfer
Combination of touchup and vector. I have the real machine right now here at home to fix it and took the chance to scan the back glass. I decided against doing it in full vector, since I just think, it's too ugly to spend 20h of time on it. The art by Art Stenholm is really bad in my opinon. The 2 player version of this game "Airport" (also done by Art Stenholm) is very nice, but this one sucks. But I had to do at least a touchup, maybe someone needs it for a VP. Back glass itself is in pretty good shape, this mainly happens to me, when I don't like it... 🙂

Star-Jet (Bally, 1963) JB

Completely re-drawn as vector graphic by me. This was a tough one. The fantastic artwork of George Molentin is far more complex than the one from my favorite artist Christian Marche. It took me some evenings to complete. Attached is the vector view of the complete back glass and and details view of the girl in the front.

This was an easy one. Original art by Jerry Kelley, who did the "pointy people" even before Christian Marche. But I like Marche's art better.
