I tried to follow what i thought was right with .pac files. and i cant get them to work. I got the vni and pal files to work. What did I forget to do?

I used lucky 1 .dll for collurization I replaced 4 files that outthere said to do in his guide. They work but when I exit a table it stutters and hangs. I don't know if anybody else has this issue.. I replaced with flexdmd back. And it's all OK.. I dont know if the pac files cause table crashes?

I'll wait for a further update for pac support?

I have no stuttering or table crashes due to the dmddevice/pin2color.dll's. I'm a little confused when you say you "replaced with flexdmd". Flexdmd cannot replace a dmddevice.dll. It's an entirely separate display format.

I have flexdmd.

I replaced dmd.ll 32bit

I added the 64bit.dll

Pin2colour

And pin2colour64

So these are all I replaced. In luckys 1st post.

When I press exit in pinuppopper, I get the music on a loop repeat over and over. A stutter of the table music... it just doesn't close out of the table and leaves the music looping. So I replace the files back that I changed. Problems fixed. As people were giving some feedback I just thought I'd give mine.. I'm on 64bit with everthing except the drivers of pinup

I still don't understand which files you changed "back" to. Who's and what versions? I'm curious because to be helpful to others you should have more specific details. I dont run my tables through popper. I mostly launch straight from VPX and this is a great way to test if your frontend is causing a problem or if it's something else.  You really should go ahead and use nailbusters 64 but pinup plugin. I havent has a single problem with it even though it's in beta. You'll love it!

I'm quiet unspecific in my terms I do apologise,

I have pinupopper, vpinmame 3.6, I applied the x64 update of may2023 from nailbusters website, I updated to vpx8 because of the new tables coming out.

When I replace my 4 files I stated already I get the issue. I have used vpx standalone and I still go the crash.. I'm fully updated with everything.. I dont use real dmd, or anything. 3 screens and my setup is good. Works no errors.

But when I applied lucky 1, 4 files over the top for colorization I get a crash

Better :) so when you get the crash what does the dmddevice.log in the tables folder show?

I didn't look at that tomorrow I can look specifically to try and help

This is from nailbusters website

What gets updated:

Visual Pinball 32bit/64bit 10.7.4 Final (Revision 404) VPinMame 32bit/64bit (Version 3.6) DMDExt (freezy) 32/64bit (Version 2.1, note: NO PAC file support). FlexDMD 32bit/64bit (Version 1.9.0)

This is what I over wrote with the 4 files that I followed from outheres great guide. And it caused the crash. After I replaced them back with the original files (because I always copy them somewhere incase of issue) and I updated to vpx8 and didn't pay no more attention as I've been reading this post quiet anxiously as I'm exited for new colourization of tables.

Maybe somebody else has the issue also I don't know? But I don't want to fill lucky 1s post here anymore. You guys are the ones who do the testing I just thought I'd report that after applying it to nailbusters version with luckys 1s post here in the 1st comments I got that issue maybe it conflicted? But maybe it gets sorted. Why a table would stutter and hang on audio? I'm unsure.

I'm having the same issue as @Vecna. I have the most recent version of Freezy installed, and Serum and pal/vni files are working without issue. I dragged over the most recent version of Lucky1's files (from page 1 of this discussion, and only the ones Outhere says to replace) and I'm getting the same crash. It doesn't matter whether I launch from Popper or from VPX directly. When I revert back to Freezy, everything works fine, but my PAC files aren't recognized.

Exactly what I was meant to say! Perfect vocabulary skills sir, I wrote a heap of mess stating I copied and went back to original haha. Cliffy was very pacient with me. I hope the issue gets resolved. But I think after reading the comments on release of this and everything else. This is going to be a waiting game I think. This is what everybody wants and needs. But I don't think it's there in terms of ok let's give it out its ready?.. with the x64 and things still getting off the ground. Maybe we will be waiting a while for the colourised. I get last action hero working with freezy in colour, but few don't show up. So yeah they must be .pac format. If that's the case.. suppose we wait.... thanks for reporting it also.. I was starting to feel like THAT GUY.....

When I first don't it.. I copied all the x64 files over the top of the x32 files from this release... and then cut and paste them in.. that worked...

I noticed after my puppacks had weird issues.. the stranger things would load the backglass and then play the puppack.. the STLE. One.. something screwed up when I don't that way..

So I done a fresh install of vpinmame. Took me 2 or so hours to redo it.. I then added the 4 files this time.. and then I got the stutter crash.. I reverted back and left the dlls alone since. Obviously there are issues. As MIKEDASPIKE Has been reporting back and others so.. maybe this is going to be resolved very soon I would just stick to the version of what's in may2023 update of pinupopper for now and see if this issue resolves soon

I can say that i have this issue too after doing the last baller installer and then replace the 4 files (for 32 and then 64 bits) -> seems i have done the same as you

It seems the problem come from the dmddevice.dll and dmddevice64.dll that make issues (dont have problem anymore when i put the originals from baller installer but no more .pac...)

They do need a log file. Cliffy did say what does your log file say.. but then I am new to the process.. I'm not a tester. If anybody knows were the error is in the log maybe upload here?

I can confirm you are correct with this issue. No more stutter or lag.. the problem was 10.7.3 with that lucky1 release. Updating to 10.8 and using them 4 files doesn't cause issues as of yet.. no more stutter

I am on x64 on vpx8

With pinuppopper 2023may release

This has solved my issue. I cant thank you enough for suggesting to now apply to my new version of vpx

Posted

@Vecna I wasn't planning on upgrading to 10.8 just yet--was worried about bugs until the official release. Anyone know if 10.7.4 (in the May Baller update) fixes the issue or do I need to bite the bullet and upgrade to 10.8? @cherok

I personally love the new vp8 version. But until its official release you could wait?.. I didn't and its OK.. on the addams family I got stutter with lucky1 again.. I'll just wait till they release a complete release of lucky1 or pac support

10.8 is good but personal preference. If you don't have 10.8 tables there no point at this point?

I prefer 10.7.4 x64 for the majority of tables today but JP Salas has just remade many of his tables for vpx 10.8 ONLY. They look amazing with 10.8. The lighting effects he has added can ONLY be done in 10.8.

Now, I'm not sure you can attribute stutter to any dmddevice.dll, 32 or 64 bit, freezy or lucky. I haven't had stutter with either one. In most cases stutter comes from not having the fps limiter set correctly. Normally it should be set to 1. Setting to 2 gives adaptive synch if you have a more potent system. Now here's an entirely new thing ONLY in 10.8 vpx- Frame Pacing. Vincent has changed the way vpx syncs in 10.8 for lower latency which should lead to much less stutter and smoother/quicker flipper reaction times.

In short the latest 10.8 betas are really robust and worth a try!

If I'm playing a table in pinupopper and hit Q for quit to quit emulator.. the table music carries on playing. The table closes but the music is like its stuttering and skipping? That's my only issue otherwise I've never had any issues playing visual pinball. If I ever did it was running tables on the wrong version.. last action hero needing x64. And i got memory issue, other than that I really can say visual pinball is such a well devised programme of intelligent creative individuals that really should be working for some really good companies.. there skills, artwork and other things here are a legacy of what is free in terms of what quality can be achieved if an individual puts his mind to it... I just really can put my finger on what caused it. Maybe it all just needs the new x64 of baller that's coming sometime in the future and these hardworking lucky and freezy are doing.. with the new vpx8 it will just butter out alot of peoples problems..

So in your experince what is missing people are not doing Cliffy in terms of correct settings?

I just go into Visual pinball setting and hit set for high end pc?

If you have a high end pc, sure. Mine is not high end really.

12th Gen Intel i7-12700F  @ 2.10 GHz

32GB ram, 1TB SSD, Windows 11 22h2

Nvidia GTX 1660 Super 6GB

I'm near enough with you Cliffy. I just have a 16gb not 32gb I might see if I can change my 2 8gbs for 2 16gbs.

I noticed with scalefx ticked it can increase the heat. That's the issue with all this I noticed the bigger the game the more juice and heat generated.

But that's very nice of you to share your settings I'll see if they replicate mine in someway and I'll give feedback to any performance improvements. The idea is the smoothest gameplay without the pc feeling its gonna take off like a rocket!

Hi all...

Wondering if someone can help here.

I am having an issue where I can no longer see the virtual DMD when running Pinball FX.

It works fine in VPX and FX3, but is not visible on pinball FS. When I alt tab I don't see it either.

I tried the latest lucky files but didn't copy them all. First time I tried my color roms stopped working and I had to restore my backup of the files in Vpinmame.  Anyway, I included my log here. Can anyone see anything that could point me in the right direction?

I have thought about maybe just using Freezy files but currently no .pac support so I would have to run the old files.

Any help /suggestions would be appreciated!

It shows that you got an acced debied on com4 for a  pixelcade device.

Not sure why. Do you have a pixelcade?

Not sure if version 2.1.1 is working fine for fx..

Maybe wait a bit until lucky and freezy are finished with latest dmdext. Some enchaments are made for fx and more fixes.

I hope the guys are pretty close to an end solution
