TRON: Legacy (Stern 2011) - SD/HD 65K Colors

Please note: This Serum colorization was developed and tested on both virtual and real tables to ensure accurate color depth and optimal performance. However, for real tables, this applies exclusively to ZeDMD <> PPUC/DMD displays. Use with any other hardware solution is strongly discouraged. Videos and user reports have shown reduced frame rates and poor color output specifically on PIN2DMD. Please be aware that these issues are not caused by Serum itself, but by the hardware/software limitations of PIN2DMD.

This one has been touched from the ground up. Every movie scene has been reimported according to Stern's official resolution and frame interval. Besides this getting the most attention, there has also been a lot of clean up to ensure consistency within the colorization.

To utilize the HD frames, add the following into your dmddevice.ini:

IMPORTANT: you need DMDExt version 2.5.0 to make use of this rom! Download can be found here
Also, delete ALL of your serum.dll files in your vpinmame folder! DMDExt now has Serum integrated from the get go.

I'm starting to releasing my colorization projects that I worked on for the past 2-3 years in PAC format for VPX

Really excited to be back releasing color file on VPUniverse!!

First one I releasing today will be The Sopranos in 64 colors! Very proud of this one that I finished in 2024.

Put a lot of hours in this one, proud of the result!

Taito Multi-Table Pack Serum Colorization

There is a very large Taito do Brasil community in South-America and @tonyfox reached out to me to see if I could create a colorization similar to the Williams Multi-table pack I had done - challenge accepted!

This is what I had to work with:

And this is what I came up with by using some special sprite offsets:

This colorization should work with most tables except for the Electromagnetics (EMs). Simply rename [Taito ROM Name].crz to match your table ROM name and drop it in the appropriate altcolor folder, such as altcolor\shock\shock.crz.
Due to limitations, this colorization will not work for 3 or 4 player games, except for Hot Ball as the layout is different.

To activate the higher resolution, add an entry for each table in your DmdDevice.ini like this:
[polar] scalermode = Doubler [snake] scalermode = Doubler [shock] scalermode = Doubler
This was a relatively quick project with about 13 hours put into it. Enjoy! 🍻

Truck Stop (Bally 1988) - DMD 65K - Serum V2 Format

The colorization works with the trucksp3 rom in English.

The trucksp3.cRZ file must be placed in the vPinMame\altcolor\trucksp3 directory.

This has been only tested with a real machine. I have made use of lcm for a large part, but I have no idea, if this works for a vpin. It is a 64 color project and uses the unofficial Tommy Rom, Mar. 17, 2016, USA CPU 5.00

Here is a major update for this colorized rom.

All the video sequences have been imported for more realism.
The arcade scrolling should now be clean.

Special thanks to @zedrummer who developed the file format and the constant improvements of the ColorizingDMD colorization tool. Importing videos of about 1800 frames and several dozen sequences has been greatly facilitated by the new features of the tool.

To work properly, you must use the English rom.

Hello everyone!

We are very proud to offer you the second serum colorization project!

As you may know, this is a new open source format for DMD colors that will be able to run on virtual DMDs and devices.

We would like to give special thanks to @zedrummer who developed the file format and the tools to use it, as well as @dtatane and @KRAKEN for the often daily exchanges. They too spend hours (even hundreds of hours) coloring and suggesting improvements to the tool!

To use the serum files, you can take a look here :

To work properly, you must use the English rom.

PS : We know that we need to fine-tune the scrolling when the ball enters the arcade ☺️

This table is one of my favorites, the Pup-Pack is beautiful, only a colorization of the Rom was missing to have a complete pack 😋

The Walking Dead

I worked on this project over the last 2 years and I am happy to present the initial release.
Since I am not sure about any dmd differences in the Pro and LE version there might be missing scenes, but I colorized everything I was able to get until now.
Possible missing content will be added in future versions.

Known issues:

- minor glitches and bugs
- possible missing frames/scenes

Tales Of The Arabian Nights

Tales Of The Arabian Nights pin2dmd colorization v 2.0

There is still some headroom for improvements but since currently my time is more limited than usual, I decided to share this update.
As always I won't call this project completed, because of so many possible transitions, but it is getting close.

Anyway… Let the tales begin!

Changelog:
- Project shifted to 64 colors
- Overall color grading
- Keyframing overhaul
- Added details to many scenes
- Added many transitions

Known issues :
- Minor transition glitches / missing transitions
- Random flying carpet issue

Only works with Freezy version 10.0.1 or above!

Tales From The Crypt (Data East 1993)

First time colorization attempt of one of my favorite tables. I was always a huge fan of Tales From The Crypt, and my career as a makeup effects artist led me to wanting this in color more than anything. Special thanks to Martin Knoppe, Malenko and Lucky1 for all thier assistance and advice. Also, if anything looks strange, please let me know here. I may have missed a frame or two in the coloring, and it was difficult to find every single one. Enjoy!

Install:
Rename TFTC_ColorDMD pal and vni files to pin2dmd.pal / pin2dmd.vni and place in your tftc_303 or tftc_400 folder in VPinMame/altcolor folder.

Real Pin2DMD Files now available. PM me for details.

TWD 156H LE

v1.1 Changed to a red color pallet to make reds stand out more and blend with greys and whites better.
v1.0 This is a greyscale comic style conversion of TWD DMD
Lightened the shading a lot for this version, should be very visible on your virtual DMD
This is for Virtual DMD's Only.
Put the TWD_156h folder into your Altcolor folder in your vpinMAME dir.
Run the BSPatch (or gui) to patch the original rom that you have with the diff file to produce your colorized rom.
To create the needed ROM file you can use bspatch (http://www.daemonology.net/bsdiff/)
example command line:
bspatch twd_156h.bin twd_156hc.bin twd_156h.diff
copy the twd_156hc.bin into rom folder and rename it twd_156h.bin
Put the new renamed rom in a zip folder named twd_156h.zip
Clear out you nvram file in your nvram directory
run your game.
