Maybe a problem with the SD card ?

apparently not, I replaced the SD, the shield and the DevEbox. on 3 different ones it does the same thing.

I just tested a DevEBox HD in my TAFG and colorization was active on first start which means

I can´t reproduce the problem. Did you try setting the display to default ?

yes set by default it's the same. without the pinball signal, it would do the same.

Just for the records. I received a DevEBox with SD card from @dom69 and the problem is caused by the SD card. I tested with my own SD card and it worked instantly. It is a SanDisk Ultra with 8GB

Hi @lucky1 , I have a question about the power supply.

I have made the PCB for the DevEBox but it's not finish , I wait for some parts.

Do you think It's not a problem to connect at the J116 with a Pin2DMD HD ?

Or it's better to add a power supply 5V.

Thanks in advance

I have mine running on J116 in my AFM without a problem, but it depends on the machine type and how loaded the circuits are.

Thanks for the answer.

It's for a STTNG so I think it's will be ok too.

Hi,

been away for a few weeks and come back to some issues with my evo HD.

it’s working fine using the built in menus to test the panel.  However I was getting no response when connected to pc. I grabbed my old pin2dmd software and ran the test DMD batch file but get no response. I the tried a DMD reset and get an odd image - see attached.

restarting the device clears the screen back to the standard image.thumb.jpeg.210be8ce5bb650d688c74bf03bc12f92.jpeg

Time to present my latest development, I have been working on the last couple of months. Searching for components on aliexpress I stumbled over some new flexible panels with 128x64 resolution and P1.875 dotpitch (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005001803946216.html), which brought me to the idea to double the output resolution of 128x32 pinball displays to 256x64 dots using two of those panels.  There are a several different versions of those panels available using different chipsets. Make sure you get a NON-EPWM chipset like MBI5124 on the panels from above. The pcb designs, firmware and WPC95 frame design can currently be found in the beta branch on github https://github.com/lucky01/PIN2DMD/. Shared PCBWay project is here

There are currently two pcb designs tested by me . On is based on through-hole parts with a DevEBox STM32H743VIT board as described here is here https://pin2dmd.com/hardware/#2.2

DevEbox-1-300x225.jpg

and the other is based on a custom made pcb populated with SMD parts which can be ordered fully assembled here

https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/PIN2DMD_EVO256x64_RGB_LED_Dotmatrix_Pinball_Display_Controller.html

Here are some pictures of my EVO board design.

The good thing is that thanks to 1.8mm dotpitch the display area has a size of 480x120mm and therefore still fits into standard pinball machines using a modified speakpanel with smaller speakers. I designed one for my WPC95 machines

combining laser-cut black and transparent acrylic in different thickness. Here are some pictures of that speakerpanel

Flexible panels are normally attached to the surface using magnets . To mount them to the EVO board I had the idea to

use DIN921 M4x6 large head screws to which the magnets stick.

The pin2dmd firmware has integrated 2 scaling algorithms which you can choose in the onscreen menu to display the content made for 128x32 on the 256x64. That already looks quite impressive but Steve and I also modified the editor to allow to replace complete pictures or parts of a picture with high resolution content. The new version of the editor is in the beta folder on google drive. I hope that some talented artists take that opportunity to upgrade the experience of our beloved pinball machines.

Rene368 made a Nucleo STM32H743 based design which he shared here https://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/5348-pin2dmd-evo-hd-upgrade-to-256x64-resolution/page/9/#comment-61108

Best regards and thanks in advance.

You use countersunk head screws to mount the pin2dmd HD to the panel. Therefore you need to modify the drills on the transparent panel using a a countersink. After that you screw all panels with mounting holes for the pin2dmd HD together and then fix the front panel to the rest using the speaker screws. Thats all.

It will work but PIN2DMD HD is larger.

Hi lucky1,

thanks for answering.

But could you be more specific? If its larger, it will not fit the original capcom DMD place? Or just need to drill some extra holes on the PIN2DMD board?

Thanks again

Just check the dimensions of your DMD against the dimensions of a PIN2DMD HD.

The display area of a pin2dmd HD is 120x480mm
