Wow Aubrel ! This is stunning man ! A Dream come true with Timeschock and Big Race USA... Love it !

 

Few tips for overall performance/latency gain for Nvidia users :

Go to Nvidia  3D config tool, select for app, your EXE (Timeschock, big race etc..)

Activation FXAA

Anti aliasing : REPLACE app (set 4x or 8x like you want) Very important.

Anisotropic : 8x

Fixation

High performances

Tri linear activate

Low Latency : Ultra (Big Race USA NEED this)

 

Works perfectly with this settings, improve the latency and you set the stable 60 fps on Timeschock.

I made a shortcut for ech game and this is the most dirty launchscript but it works.

Note i couldnt make all supportet games run on W10 thats why some are missing.
Start:

Quote

And here some (poor) FullDMD Frames, they dont stay on top to use in game so only use for frontend to fill blanks.

Nice :)

If ever :

- For the arts you can name them "background.png" and put them in the "textures" folders of each game. it should work directly ;)

(you will have to set the DMD sizes and positions in the ini to match the new DMD display area)

- For the exit option just kill "PinCabView_Launcher.exe" it should be enough :)

File background.png in PinCabView\Textures got deletet after starting the game. 
Could reproduce this 3 times. Copy file, launch game, file is gone. 

But i cant use this setup because i have a 2 screen setup. The 2nd screen is vertical an my backglass get streched on the whole monitor. 

When setting Backglass high to correct amount of pixels i dont get save.

No : if you put it directly in the "PinCabView/Textures" folder it will be applied for all games by default and in this case it should be named "background_default.png"

 

To put your own Timeshock DMD background you have to put it named "background.png" in "PinCabView/textures/Timeshock" folder ;)

Yes sorry...

If you have only 2 screens, the method I gave above won't work with the released versions you are right : only with 3 screens cab...

That's sad : I worked on a new version with improved arts and many new possibilities but I stopped and now more than a year later it will be difficult to finish it because I don't have enough time anymore and more than that I mostly forgot what I had to fix/finish before a release...

BTW with the last WIP version you would have been able to do that even in a 2 screens cab... 😔

I cannot believe that I am just now finding this thread. Absolutely AMAZING work @Aubrel.

Can anyone recommend any up-to-date online videos or guides for getting this up and running? I have a 3 screen cab and have vpx all fine via popper but wondered if there was an idiots guide somewhere with tips to get the best setup and enjoyment from Aubrel's amazing work?

To set PinCabView options, just check PinCabView.ini and run PincabView_Launcher.exe to test.

To launch, this is by far the most simple thing to launch : just run PinCabView_Launcher.exe

To close, again this is the most simple thing to close : just close PinCabView_Launcher.exe (or just quit the game using the game's UI)

(so I hope any frontend can do that the most simple way...)

 

Nobody needs a tuto to do that... ;)

Hello and thank you for the hard work you put in regarding these tables. I have the 3 GOG version of the tables and was wanting to know what's the process is to add the tables to popper front end? Emulator setup and launch scripts? Id love to add the pincabview tables to my frontend. Thank you again for your hard work.

I recently installed this with TimeShock (I am a teacher and made a virtual table for my afterschool game club) and am experiencing flipper lag.

I am using an old i3 machine with onboards Intel graphics and the GOG version of the ProPinball games. It seems that the lag is significant enough that I try to flip when the ball is at the back of the flipper and the delay has the ball leaving the tip of the flipper.

 

Now to get PinCabView to work I had to go to Compatibility Properties (Win 10) and clicked "Disable fullscreen optimzations" for it to load. If that was not checked the program would crash after the ProPinbal load screen.

 

Any suggestions for fixing the input lag when using a USB keyboard?

 

*Edit - other than putting it on the right screen - it is working at full speed on my Ryzen 7 RTX3060 rig... maybe my issue is using an old i3 with on board graphics. Please if anyone has any setting suggestions I would love the help. Thank you.

 

TV is HDMI and the Monitor is VGA - this is a simple setup for now just a TV, Monitor, PC and I will be using my old HanHo Hotrod joystick for the controls once I install the Zero Delay USB Encoder since modern rigs do not have PS/2 Ports.

Thank you so much for this!  This is my first foray into virtual pinball, other than owning the disk for Big Race USA from its original release (excited for Space Cadet). 

 

Using GOG versions of the Empire games, and installing via the Baller Installer I got this setup on my 3rd attempt.  So happy to have a better way to play these tables. 

Need to get them selectable via pinup, but able to play launching via pincabview on my test rig...

Is it possible to assign cab flipper buttons to the propinball games or is it keyboard only? I hate playing with keyboard at the cab ;-), so i hesitated to install PinCabView yet. Thx!

if you are not using a keymapper yet, you can use it only for propinball. e.g. joy2key, you assign a letter to a button and it's aknowledged as keyboard input.

I cannot get Worms or Rally Fever to play. I just get a black playfield.  I can get the different backglasses if I use the "-wp" flag for Worms.  But neither will load.

 

Worms standalone starts up.

 

Any clues how to fix it?

 

EDIT -- Loaded it in Popper, and it started working.  Might have just needed a good reboot.

Considering getting a machine myself soon and after playing some vpx stuff on it, this is gonna be the first addition I make. I've always dreamed of playing Worms pinball on a real cabinet and this is basically that so thank you for all your hard work!
