Let me start by saying I completely resepect this whole project so much. Just got my Pin2DMD boards in the mail, activated 1, and am seriously enjoying Shaq Attaq (real pin) once again.

That said, I've tried using Pin2DMD ColorPrism to make a simple 4-color palette, and it works when my USB is connected. If I save the config (pin2dmd.dat) and palette (palette.pal) then put on my SD card, the Gottlieb System 3 (real pin) defaults to the 4-color white, red, cyan, black palette every time. I've spent over 3 hours doing lots of different naming and sequencing of the workflow, including reading docs, posts, and watching YouTube videos without any luck/skill.

TYPICAL PROCESS (with many variations and filenames tried)

1. Start Pin2DMD ColorPrism 3.0 (Note: 4.53 board firmware)

2. Connect USB from laptop to Pin2DMD board

3. Select Premier Gottlieb V3 in ColorPrism

4. Increase brightness in ColorPrism (changes in realtime on the real pin)

5. Choose Palette 0 (VGA) in ColorPrism (all palette changes happen immediately)

6. Change color 1 (33%) to 100, 50, 0 in ColorPrism (change shown on real pin)

7. Change color 4 (66%) to 200, 100, 0 in ColorPrism (change shown on real pin)

8. File > Save Palette (palette.pal)

9. File > Save Config (pin2dmd.dat)

10. Save 2 files to SD card

11. Turn off pin

12. Insert SD card into Pin2DMD slot on board

13. Restart pin (no changes shown on real pin)

Please help! I'd like to step up to making a full commitment to recolor Shaq Attaq and learning slowly but surely. Thank you

Probably a issue with the SD card. If you leave the empty SD card in the slot, go into the onscreen menu and save the config, does it generate a pin2dmd.dat file on the SD card ? If not, then there is the problem. Is your SD card formatted with FAT32 ? If you leave the SD card in the pin2dmd and click Device->Save Config or Save Palette the files should be generated directly on the SD card. If that is not the case your SD card is not working. This has already been discussed here in the forum. Use the search function for more info about SD card issues

Thank you. I dug around the forum quite a bit. Let me test as you've stated. I guess I was just assuming my card was working / to spec.

* EDIT * Problem solved. My 16 GB SD card was already FAT32 (with other stuff on it). I quick formatted my card as FAT32 and did as you said, then it worked as designed. Device > Save Config created pin2dmd.dat on the card via USB, and Device > Save Palette created pin2dmd.pal on the card via USB. Stoked!

@lucky1 Do you have a link to a simple youtube video tutorial i can follow to update pin2dmd? I was using a short simple tutorial on youtube by way of the wrench and now this page here has the download links gone. The links at the top go to github and i'm completely lost on where do download the latest version. I'm only seeing usercode etc and opening it up i don't see any of the files i should be copying over. I'm trying to get my colored dmd to look the same as the one everyone is using for the metallica and Bram Stoker Dracula tables and it's colored wrong and states at the top that version .49 needs to be installed. Thanks.
