Jurassic Park (Data East 1993) VPW

Welcome to Jurassic Park!

Dark's original table rebuilt and brought into the toolkit era. Flux started this by getting the table ready for the blender toolkit, Sixtoe gutted and rebuilt the layout in VPX and we were on our way to Isla Nublar. Apophis roared into action with all the standard VPW bells and whistles and DaRdog added a deadly Mega VR Room. Many others helped make this another fantastic table so....How about another tour of the park?

VPW Park Staff

Flux - John Hammond
Sixtoe - Dr Vpx Grant
Apophis - Dr "Will find a way" Malcolm
DaRdog - "Hold on to your butts" Mega VR Room
Rothbauerw - T-Rex Diagnostics
TastyWasps - VR Backglass
Primetime5k - Staged Flippers
Mcarter78 - Ramp Sounds

Unfortunately, I'm having trouble getting the Rom sound to play? No issues with the other new vpw tables, and all updated to latest.

You need both jupk_600.zip for the game code and the parent rom jupk_513.zip for the sound roms. Download both to your VPinMAME/roms folder. No need to combine them or unzip anything.

I'm a noob so probably something I'm doing.  Table seems to be working properly, loads fine with 64 bit Visual Pinball, sound work, flippers flip, coin/start works... but the game never serves a ball to the plunger.  I'm playing on my PC with a single monitor. I also downloaded and set up Big Bang Bar and am having the exact same issue.  Please tell me it's something simple I'm missing.

which version of vpimame are you using?

Thanks for the reply...

I am running pinmame 3.6, both x86 and 64 Bit versions and launching both above mentioned tables with Visual Pinball 10.8 64 bit.  I used Baller Installer to install everything.

The script option is grayed out on this table, I am unable to open it. table runs and plays. Are we locked out from seeing the script now? I also noticed this on other recient VPW Table updates like Lethal Weapon.  I'm running rel VPXcandidate 3 64 bit and vpm3.6 929

Edit: I found that the tables were locked, but they can be unlocked in the editor.

Anyone having issues getting this table to launch?

When launching from Pinup Popper VPX hangs 'Visual Pinball (Not Responding)'. Which causes Popper to freak out and freeze, then eventually crash.

This occurs with No Fear 50% of the time too, but all other VPW/VPX tables (incl later release VPW tables) launch fine without issue.

Seems to launch fine directly from VPX.

Anything I should or could change in Popper (I have alternate launch app set as VPX 10.8 64 of course).

running v10.8 rev 1947  (x64)

vpinmame 3.6.0.929.8c5f83e (x64)

cheers,

Richie

So I figured it out.  Not sure if this is something that is well known and I just didn't know (just started using this software two days ago)...  When I start the table, it goes through some diagnostic checks.  Once the table is fully started I'm stuck with my original problem where I can't get a ball to drop after hitting the start button.  Today, after this initial startup sequence, I hit F3 to restart vpinmame and it seemed like it went through a longer start up process where the T-Rex moves around a couple of times (doesn't do this on initial load).  After this it displays a message saying "5 balls missing", it fires off a ball and after it drains the game works fine.  Hitting F3 also fixed the same issue I was having with Big Bang Bar.

Now the issue is that I have to hit F3 every time I start either of these two games to get them to work.  Is there some setting I need to change or something I need to do to fix this?

Yes. Hit F1 and make sure "Skip Pinball Startup Test" is NOT checked.

Both tables had this setting checked.  However, unchecking the option and restarting Visual Pinball didn't change anything.  I still have to hit F3 to get the game to load any balls.  Thanks for the tip though!

Thats because you likely need to delete the nvram (which is where rom settings are stored) and then start up, do the F1 thing. Close vpx completely so that vpinmame also disconnects it's COM object, then restart.

Every time you hit F3 it's resetting the rom.

Same result after deleting nvram file.  On freshly rebooted computer, open file explorer and delete nvram, open VPinballX64, load JP table.  Same result, shortened startup sequence, no balls when you start the table.  Everything works fine after restarting the rom.  I appreciate your help!

and you updated your scripts folder when you unzipped the latest vpx rc3? Strange.

Not sure I understand what you mean.  I installed everything with Baller Installer.

ah. You need to use the stuff at the top of this page instead. Installers can't keep up with vpx and vpinmame, let alone b2s server updates.

Wow, I feel dumb.  Thanks again for your help.

Hi.

I had this issue and solved it by deleting the nvram files for the game, disabling "Skip Pinball Startup Test" and pressing F3 once the game is running.

Doing just one of these steps, or two of these steps didn't fix it - I had to do all 3.

Make sure you're using this exact version of both PINMAME and VPINMAME (assuming you're on Windows running the 64 bit vpinball)

https://github.com/vpinball/pinmame/releases/download/v3.6.0-929-8c5f83e/VPinMAME-3.6.0-929-8c5f83e-win-x64.zip

Extract both of these into the vpinmame directory inside your main visualpinball directory
