In the darkened hall, the pinball's eerie call,
A haunted house awaits, where ghostly thrills enthrall.

VPW proudly presents our 13th blender toolkit based table (spoooooky)! It was just over a month ago that Apophis challenged Cyberpez with a scary proposition: update his Haunted House table with the latest techniques by Halloween. From there they summoned otherworldly powers of Rothbauerw and Tomate and the team found a way through the darkness with nothing but the glow of the pinball to light their way.

VPW TEAM
Cyberpez - Table maker, blender builder, and seance medium
Apophis - Script toiler, undertaker
Rothbauerw - Physics master, magician
Tomate - Blender, baker, chef
Hauntfreaks - Sideshow artist
Sixtoe - Dust collector
Testers – PinStratsDan, Primetime5k, BountyBob, passion4pins, bietekwiet, somatik, nFozzy, TastyWasps, Wylte, bord, Studlygoorite

Notes:

  • Use the in-game option menu to view many spooky options! Hold down both magnasave buttons before starting a game to open the menu.
  • Yes, you need to use the magnasave buttons to operate flippers in the attic and basement, however you can optionally choose to use just normal flippers (at the risk of being cursed for life, so beware).
  • Update your DOF config if you want to enjoy some minor enhancements

And the hits just keep on comin!! Yeah yeah it looks and plays great but check out the VR Environment, how the full moon sits behind the tree branches, dust on the glass, ghost floating around and the depth of the basement etc....awesome. Count how many times you hit the wrong flipper button when the ball is in the basement :) Thanks for another gem and all of the cool options.

This table is a guilty pleasure. The 4 channel iconic music, the wicked 8 flipper setup. The recreation is done meticulously and the result is fabulous. The 3D is incredibly well layered all the way up to the dust on the mini playfield glass. The light is incredible the way the lower playfield darkens and lightens up, so realistic!

Thank you for the hard work on this gem. It plays like a dream...or should I say nightmare? :)

OMG I think I am dreaming?

Haunted house has always been one of my favorite tables. I love cyberpez's version over at vpforums. I never expected to see the legendary VPW crew take it on though! This is the best Halloween surprise I could ask for.

Thanks so much VPW team for making every day feel like Christmas for me and others 😂 seriously though, all of the work you have been putting out lately is nothing short of mind-blowing. I can tell we are entering a new age of VPX and virtual pinball.

The 3 playfield levels this table has is a perfect one to really show off Niwaks incredible blender toolkit magic. The sense of depth, and the lighting throughout the floors really pops on this one. It looks almost photorealistic guys.. and plays better than any REAL haunted house I've ever had the chance to play. This is the true benefit of virtual pinball in my opinion. Tables are frozen in time, to always look pristine and brand new. Don't have to worry about any maintenance or wear and tear. I love it. I love VPW.

Happy Halloween!! 🎃🎃👻

Justice. Absolute justice has finally been served to Haunted House through the VPinWorkshop treatment. While the wealth of deep games resurrected from the 1990s and 2000s have been stunning, words cannot express my gratitude for this 1982 beauty.

Some observations:

  • Performance is great on VPX 10.8 Beta 5. Stutter in 144 FPS/refresh is very minimal (RTX 3090 24GB + Ryzen 7 3700x 3.6-4.4GHz)
  • Physics seem to have taken a step-up, as they feel a bit more natural
  • Magnasave-menu allows for deep customization of General Illumination on a per-playfield basis (under / main / upper)

As a side-note, the "basement" kickout hole seems to register twice, resulting an an inflated Monster Bonus. This is minor.

Full Cab Spec:

ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING AM4 Motherboard

Ryzen 7 3700X 3rd Generation 8-Core CPU

MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X GPU

CORSAIR - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3.2 GHz DDR4 RAM

The absolute best vpx version of this classic Gottlieb System 80. I was honored to test to a small degree as passion4pins because IRL I was involved in my best buddy Steve Charland's 7 digit conversion. I have an eeprom burner so was burning a ton of test roms for him. Since Steve has passed this has sentimental value to me.

The team above, flying under the VPW banner, have poured their collective hearts into this table. Their goal was accuracy as well as beautiful imagery.  The play testers were damned and determined to help the builders get it right. I think they have. Thanks guys, much appreciated

What a perfect table for Halloween by VPW! Nothing is left to chance. You have to work for each and every point. As soon as you lose focus and concentration, the ball is gone! I just love it. This is the kind of table where you can slowly but surely improve as you try different approached and strategies. It took me about two weeks of playing before I started to feel more in control.

The VPW team did a brilliant job to bring this to life; certainly with the looks and sounds, but man, the physics is so good! The physics allows you to use your flipper skills to try and control the ball... which you must!

Man, what to say that hasn't already been said. The absolute best virtual version of this classic pin ever.

I'm at a loss for how awesome this is, so let's visualize. This is a Hamster, riding a Vespa...

... Now that's pretty awesome. But not as awesome as this table

MASTERPIECE! The atmosphere is magical in this table and the 3-level gameplay is perfect. The depth in this table is really amazing in VR especially combined with the lighting/shadow effects and the quality of the rest of the graphics/playfield/textures. Thank you!

Besides that: zero z-fighting going once again VPW, it seems that it's fully fixed now with the last 3 release; so flawlessly executed!

I was JUST thinking of this table yesterday on a whim, and of course VPinWorkshop delivers an amazingly well-done conversion as always. Looks stellar in VR.

Wish you folks a happy Halloween. :)

A superbly detailed and well crafted table. I had a few games on it tonight. I'm probably more used to tables with four main flippers than some people as I've played a lot of Zaccaria's Time Machine virtually. The hand-written note on the apron is a nice touch and the instruction card is easily readable at my native 2K resolution for the playfield screen. The multi-level gameplay offers something a little different to a standard table, particularly one from that era. Great work!

I couldn't have wished for a better table today and it's one of my favorites. Totally didn't expect this with all the other Halloween related tables that have come out lately. And the sheer amount of customization within the menu, just over the top. Everything i would have wanted to alter in the lighting and even the glow ball is in there. The level of detail is mind boggling. Blown away. The table looks and plays so well. What a treat. Thank you everyone for sharing your work with us.

These guys really went all-out to make this an amazing game and get it out by Halloween.  Truly exceptional visuals and physics, with lots of passionate back-and-forth to get them nailed down just right.  An absolute masterpiece that will be enjoyed well after the spooky season ends!

I just played a couple of games of Haunted House and I feel so greatful... We can't say it enough, thank you to the creators, thank you to the developers and thank you to all the members of our community who make this hobby a thing so exceptional.

The multi stage playfield and the special "room" is simply amazing in VR. I feel lucky to be able to play those old school tables like they just come out of the box. Thanks a million, you are filling my life with joy!
