"CHALLENGE.  THE ROBOT.  FROM ZACCARIA."

Robot is a table I've been planning on doing since I discovered VP.  I had never seen these Italian machines before: with their bright colors, mocking callouts, formed plastics, and distinctly foreign layouts, Zaccaria has a bit of an exotic allure.  And the cyan robot theme is just my style - it's my avatar for a reason!

This mod was intended to be all about updating Robot for playability and accuracy...and only grew a tiny bit beyond that.  As I built it more resources became available, so someday there will be a fully rendered version.  Maybe VPE?

The main things changed from 32assassin's release are:

Alignment of every part, nFozzy physics, Roth Targets, Fleep ToM sounds, Dynamic Ball Shadows, Sling Corrections, TargetBouncer, LUT changer, RampRolling sounds, physical trough, Lampz
Also:  Implemented FastFlips(hacked), sorted the layers, formatted script, removed duplicate objects, fixed dt's, fixed assignments, made u-turns real, made robots animate better and need front collision, re-origined and animated RampExit, made ramp walls into wall walls, probably lots of other stuff..."physics/lights/lighting"

Included is a pre-configured NVRAM with my settings for 3-ball play + Game Time Bonus.

Left and Right MagnaSave keys will cycle through the available color grade LUTs.

More options are available at the top of the script.

Thanks to nFozzy, Fleep, Rothbauerw, Iaakki, Wrd1972, Apophis, Fluffhead35, and Flupper for the code, models, and instructions to implement the above!
Thanks to Nestorgian for the trough code fix, it got all the ball handling code headed in the right direction.

Thanks to Lumi~ for the Desktop Backdrop.

Thanks to MovieGuru for the art upscale and cleanup.
Thanks to the testers BountyBob, Smaug, Bietekwiet, and PinStratsDan who are actually good at pinball and helped make this better.
And thanks to 32Assassin, Hmueck, and Francisco666 for their prior versions!

There's also an awesome new backglass from HauntFreaks:

Zaccaria's 1985 Robot is a table that is quite simple, but VERY addicting.  Your main goal on Robot, is to defeat the Robot.  In order to defeat him, you have to launch the ball across The Robot Bridge, that will activate 5 robot minions.  Knocking these minion down three times, will defeat the Robot of Zaccaria.  There is nothing quite like hitting that Rainbow Bridge shot.  The multiplier is also very unique, with its three standup square targets.  Hitting them does not drop them, but does black out a light.  Knocking out all three lights will advance your multiplier.  Directly across from the targets is a somewhat hidden slingshot that will help you knock these lights out.

Up top, you have three lanes along with three lights.  Completing these three lanes on one ball, will activate the outlane saves.  I recommend trying to get these save activated quickly, because the outlanes can be deadly on this table.  Your yellow drop targets on the right, will bank you point big points on the Orange Special target.  Plus, after a few target drops, the Robot will congratulate you with a "nice shot."  As with all Zaccaria tables, the last ball will collect you bonus time for the final ball.  There are a few more shots I'm leaving out, but trust me, you will have a blast with this table.

Now for this table itself.  Wylte did absolutely one of the best jobs of recreating a table that I have played yet on my cab.  Robot has been floating around for a while, but was always in rough shape, and needed a big overhaul.  Until then, I was playing the Zaccaria release on steam, which was fine, but when you would watch a video of the real table and then compare to the steam version, it was light year behind.

With Wytle release, you  will feel like your playing the real deal.  Go ahead.  Play four or five games.  Get a good feel for the game, understand the rules and shots, and then play the sixth game full tilt.  After playing that sixth game, go on youtube and watch a gameplay video of the real machine, and you will swear you are watching yourself play.  It's truly remarkable what he was able to pull off on this one, and deserves to be in everyone's rotation.   His Robot table has dethroned the steam  Zaccaria robot table from my cab, and my only hope is that he tackles more Zaccaria tables.

Easily 5 stars.  A must have.  Great job to all those involved, especially Wylte.

@Wylte and team - thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece!  Although I have not seen the physical pin in the wild, this is one of a handful of tables on my cab that continue to draw me back again and again.  I have played many enjoyable hours on the previous release (v1.2.2) and this new release (v1.3) feels even more compelling and "physical" in its presentation.  It is simply amazing the level of realism this table provides, and is a showpiece of what is possible with VPIN.

I adore this table and now must return to Challenge.  The.  Robot.  From.  Zaccaria!

Caveat Lector - be warned in the spirit of teaching a mortal enemy to play chess, for you will be consumed and think of nothing else.  Nothing.  You have been warned...

Very best and bravo!

This table is sensational! At first it was a little bit frustrating but after a bit of time I really got into it. The objectives are very compelling and the robot really talks to you! I recommend that you Challenge. The Robot. From Zaccaria. Thanks for the great table!

@Wylte is a titan of industry here, as well as, all the others that worked on Robot. Talent is off the charts.

This game is very well manicured. The attention to detail is laudable and it plays very very well.

Once again, I could FEEL the weight of the ball and the flippers responded in kind. I'm seeing a pattern here. Physics are tremendous.  The graphics, sounds and playability are also fantastic.  I couldn't stop playing it this morning, mostly in a stupor of how well it worked. Super enjoyable and I'll be coming back to it for a game, regularly.

Thank you.

Thanks Wylte for this amazing, cool table from Zaccaria! I had never heard of this, but I loveee the art style and color scheme. It's very unique! And the play field layout is so different. I've never seen anything like that rainbow bridge, and boy is it satisfying when you swing it up the scoop successfully onto the bridge. Then let the robot battle begin!

Also I really wanted to comment on your new update, it's fantastic! Made an already great table, almost perfect. I think it's about as good as it could get for now, besides VPE maybe in the future 😉.

I love all of your work you do Wylte, your a boon to this community! And Apophis and VPW, I know you all help each other out. It's better for everyone when people can get along and collaborate together! That's why this community is so great, even after all of the VPinball shutdown drama.

Excited to see what you make next 👍.

Thanks a lot for sharing your mod, it's really great to play now!
Great table choice also. It is appreciated!

(Any chance for a mod of Zaccaria Pinball Champ 82 in the future? It is such a great table too.)

What a beauty and fun machine.

Great concept with the 5 robots coming "up" once you make that ramp...lots of fun.

Big Thanks! 👍

Question: would it be possible to add a 5-ball nvram to the download?

I tried to change it myself, dip4 and setting#20 but it stays on 3 balls so if you have a nv for 5 would be appreciated, thanks!

As an ALP owner I have a soft spot for Zaccaria tables, and this is a fantastic release!
Has a wonderful feel to it and looks/sounds brill - big upgrade versus the ALP / Bitpixel version
Really fun table with that awesome Zaccaria art style (wonderfully recreated)
Thanks very much to all for the hard work in bringing this to fruition!
