"You have just crossed over... into the Twilight Zone"

Finally. Been a while coming hasn't it?

VPW are very proud to present Twilight Zone by Bally/Midway, arguably one of the best pinball machines ever made!

Niwak wanted to test the idea of making his "VPX Blender Toolkit" back in 2022, and decided to use Twilight Zone as his first experiment in importing and converting a VPX table, a screenshot was posted of the test render and everyone was, like, "ooooo".

However... The tools were in their infancy and Niwak wasn't happy with how the table looked in motion compared to real life, so decided to go and rewrite both pinmame and vpx so that it could do real fading PWM lighting and numerous other things.
While this was going on rothbauer and nfozzy looked at the physics and then Sixtoe rebuilt and simplified the table in VPX after we found the dimensions of the original table were incorrect.

The project then went on hold as we wanted 10.8.0 to stabilise as this table needed the new features to work properly, and we're happy enough with where VPX 10.8.0 RC4 is that we've now punted this out the door into your caring arms.

Make sure to check out the in game "F12" options menu for loads of fancy mods!

I remember the first time that I saw the video to show of the lightmapper on YouTube. Since that day I didn't play TZ anymore because I knew that one day it's going to be released. And now that it is, it has exceeded my expectations, it's next level again! The huge amount of mod's, the perfection in terms of lighting and the rest of the visuals(the plastic ramp looks insane and so does the rest of the table), physics all massive improvements on what I remember and all this made TZ to the top list of my(very long) favorite VPX table list. Thank you to all involved for this great release!

OMG! The wait for the holy grail is finally over!!

I remember back in 1993 I saw this machine on the second floor in the town arcade. The back glass read  «Twilight Zone». Cool ,they made a pinball table based on that movie with John Lithgow I thought. Later I discovered the tv-show lol.

Anyway. This machine  was soon to become my absolute favorite amongst all the pinballs. So many varied, and fun missions, so much to do.  Even though som decent efforts has been made to recreate this table digitally earlier, I have dreamt, and waited for VPW to do their treatment. And OMG! This is the real deal. Graphics, physics, and even those notorious drains are SPOT ON! Not to mention the Powerball, which both looks and feels exactly like in the Arcade. VPW, you just completed my virtual pinball dream. Even my cab is based on this table. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU @VPinWorkshop !!

Congratulations to @VPinWorkshop on a bellwether release of a seminal Bally game. As a true blue, diehard fan of the original TV series and having owned and restored/modded several real TZ's I was thrilled when I saw the VPW team decide to pick it up and run with it. I also knew it would be a daunting task for them as this was not only Pat Lawlors "throw every possible toy in there" table but was the biggest platform for modders adding even more amazing "toys". These good chaps wanted to enable them all!

EVERY ONE of the VPW rockstars had a hand in it's rebuilding. The butchers, the bakers, the candlestick makers, all touched it in some way or other. Even some newly minted members got a chance to improve this magnificent work of art. Even separated by miles, age and skills the deep passion for the game was evident.  Everyone involved would accept no less than THE most accurate representation of this flagship pinball machine. Maybe I gush too much because I too CARE about the legacy of the theme and game, still owning the real thing which will always be with me. Maybe it's not gushing as much as it is being proud to see the love and care given to it.

Congratulations again, my friends. You indeed have done the Twilight Zone legacy extremely proud. Thank you all!

An automatic Top 10 (in my collection) !

WARNING: Only play this table if you like excellent artwork, incredible lighting, superb options, spot-on sound and perfect physics!

So good you even got me doing a Rod Serling impersonation!

PS - make sure you stay (or heck, jump ahead if you must) to the end!

I think it is very admirable (and disciplined) that Niwak held off on the release of this table until it was as spectacular as it is! VPW is AWESOME!

I had to give Twilight Zone a go for my first table back after a while without a computer. Having previously tested it, I was already impressed, but now I'm utterly blown away. In my opinion, no digital pinball table surpasses its stunning visuals, and its gameplay is equally exceptional. Kudos to Niwak and the VPW team for expanding the boundaries of digital pinball excellence, exemplified in this outstanding release.

This table is one of the greatest of all time. The VPW team never disappoints. I just got a new gaming pc with a meta quest 3 and I think ive played so much this week my eyes are going to melt. The VR background, and table look amazing. This one will be hard to top. 5 ***** and a beer coming your way.  Also nice banner on the top of the site love how it helps highlight the release of the new table.

UPDATE REVIEW with VR!
I just played this with my Quest 3 on my pincab and it felt and looked surreal.  This is as close to the playing actual game as I have ever felt.  Much respect to the VR team for the amazing work.

This is such an incredible job.  Thank you to everyone who worked on this, it looks and plays amazing.  Twilight Zone got me into pinball as a kid, this release gave me some of those vibes again.  Cheers!

When I first got into virtual pinball circa 2010 or so, the reason I sought out VP was to play Twilight Zone.  Back then tables were extremely primitive, but it enabled you to play the table with the ROM.  I don't even know who was responsible for those recreations, but I was glad that someone had made them.  Flash forward to 2024 and we have this masterpiece created with tools unheard of in 2010 and a community that has grown tremendously, picking up some very talented people along the way.  Twilight Zone has never played, looked or felt better.  Everything is just how I'd hoped it would be.  Loaded with user selectable mods, amazing lighting, excellent 360 VR room, great physics and sound.  This is a certified banger!  Thank you to the talented @VPinWorkshop crew for bringing Bally's Twilight Zone to life virtually!  Amazing work on this.

No exaggeration to call this the most impressive digital pinball experience yet... with VR, it's nearly as good as having a Twilight Zone machine in my home. Excellent stuff.

Looks nice but this must have been made for vertical mode. tried eveerything to get it in to cabinet mode. but failed so guess  I will have to give this one a miss thanks anyway.

Response from the author:

This is a problem with your setup and can be changed in the editor, you need to learn how to rotate it, it's OK for everyone else.

I've been playing this at a local bar/club that is mostly absent of lighting. I enjoyed the table immensely but had no idea that so many of the cab lights were broken so imagine my delight when I could finally see this beauty :P It is shockingly beautiful and it plays so well. Team VPW, thank you for releasing this into the wild! You are all the best ❤️
