Pirates Life 2.1 has a random ship selection throughout the game which opens up the game to enjoy more of Andre Pena's wise cracking callouts. There are two download options  for either Epic Metal and Split Enz Versions. 2 & 3 Screen Backglasses arena the backglass and media download as well as a comprehensive ruleset.

If you are playing VR My scripting is set to use JP's flashers for the DMD so change True to False in line 246 of the script (as below)

 UseFlexDMD = False

Also for VR users Pirates Life2.1b- EpicMetal has a bug fix for siderail name crash. There are no changes to the PiratesLife2.1b-SplitEnz Version from version 2.1a. Just keeping game names in alignment.

Pirates Life-The revenge of Cecil Hoggleston is an original game based on the story of an unfortunate lad who grows up to be the most fearsome pirate on the high seas and avenges his foes.  The game can be played by players of all levels with selection of easy or hard modes with 3 or 5 ball options. This version has a mega Pirate ship VR Room, new desktop and cabinet play looks. In the downloads you can find both Epic Metal and SplitEnz versions for Desktop/VR and cabinet modes. If playing desktop or cabinet ensure that the included .ini file is placed in the Tables folder. Also included in the downloads is a 2 & 3 screen backglasses, art pack and rules with lots of gameplay pictures. See below a link below to the youtube video where I explain the the gameplays and give you  game overview. The game has 8 modes to play, 9 ships to sink with plenty of music changes and callouts to keep you entertained. Epic metal music is kindly provided to you by Finish Composer Antii Martikainen and the incredible attract music, Hunting Pirates, is done by Finish metal group Turisas. Please check out their albums on Band Camp and any support you can give them is greatly appreciated. The game was designed around Split Enz music and pleased to provide updated versions with the original sound track. Please support this artist. The animations of the canon, shark, parrot, bobbing drunk skeleton and the dirty creature are all done by JP Salas. Beautiful transparent ramps are done by Tomate and DOF is done by Outhere. Smaug and Gramps chip in with some amusing callouts and Sixtoes was with me for the entire project providing timely advices and neat ideas. Topping off an incredible group of people who have worked on this game includes voice actor Andre Pena who does voices forScurvy Dick, Barba Blanka and the scumbag sailor. You can also checkout Andre's work with his role as Louis in resident Evil 4 zombie bang em up blockbuster game.

Before starting the game ensure you take advantage of the Lut suitable for your monitor. Hold down left magna save and change the Lut with the right magna save.

Pirates Life 1.0.6  has the original soundtrack by Split Enz and will take you on a different more relaxed journey and into the world Cecil Hoggleston via different path.

Spend 13 minutes to watch the video and learn the game. There is more in it than meets the eye.

This is an overview of the game and there is a set of rules and story in the downloads

The game is made with v10.8.0 Beta(Rev 1807(39824d6) 64 bit freezy 2.2.1.0 and flex DMD 1.9.0.0, VPinMame 3.6 & latest Backglass server B2S 2.03

For those who are struggling to get their software going, this is a link to my current, relevant VPinMame & VPinball files. You are welcome to try at your own risk. Please be aware that I am not running everything latest. For some reason I have conflicts with the RC3 and Freezy 2.2.2 and Flex DMD 1.9.1 and haven't had time to investigate this. if anyone can teach please leave your insights in the comments section.

vPinball Files working for RusstyT 2-6-24.zip

Always make sure you do a backup and always copy across the scripts. I don't recommend replacing your current 3.6VPinMame setup.exe and setup64.exe files. Thats is why I have placed them seperate to the other files.

Note: The game is designed to run JPs flashers in Desktop and VR & I do not recommend using the flex dmd option for playing with these methods.

If Playing VR change line 195 of the script to VRRoom=1

Incorporated in the Game are;

Easy and hard modes with 3 ball or 5 ball options

nFozzy Physics

Fleep Sounds

Luts

Virtual Reality

The artwork is magnificent, the game plays great, The music choice is filled with great tunes by people I haven't heard of before listening.. yet it makes me want to hear them more. Not to mention, pretty good callouts!  All of this results in a game that is simply outstanding; Not even I can do such an effort.

Response from the author:

Thanks so much for this review. It has been a long hard road and I can see you understand the amount of work that goes into producing a game of quality. It's so good to have people share the joy of the game. The band is Split Enz from New Zealand. Neil Finn is more internationally known for his band Crowded house and playing with Fleetwood Mac in their last tour. Thanks mate

Table is beautifully done... lay out is nice, fun, smooth. Only thing I'd change is to make the music fit the genre. The current music is not pace or style that matches the theme of the table.

Response from the author:

Your 100% correct in saying it's not what you'd expect in a Pirate themed game. It's also 100% true that I never wanted it to be like other Pirate stories and games. It's a quirky story of an unfortunate lad born with one leg and one hand who rises to be the most fearsome pirate upon the seas. It's a tongue in cheek dark comedy and a story of hope against prevailing odds. It's meant to make you laugh and feel good and feel empathy for the retched life of the lad.

This game is not a copy of Pirate of the Caribbean or any other pirate story. It's new. It's unusual. It's different and I understand that it won't be everyones cup of tea. The songs have been selected to have either nautical, sea shanty or lyrical connections to the game. I'm wondering if story was told on the big screen how much the music would be very much in our minds and accepted as the new norm.  A brief story behind the game and connections between the characters can be found in the rules. Thankyou for your honesty.

I would love to change the music on this one...though i presume entering mp3s won't do it....I see the music files have an m_ at their beginning but are ogg files.

I like the game very much. I like the canon that looks like Black Rose, only i don't know were to aim at? Nice original. But it misses something... Not only to get us onboard, but to stay onboard..... Squeeking floorboards, waving sea noise, thunder and lightning..

For the overall... Well done Rustty and team :D

Response from the author:

Hy Iceman, check out the video in the opening blurb that takes you through the gameplays. canon you aim at the via target. There is also a full set of rules. But nobody is allowed to read them. that's secret pirate stuff.😉 have fun mate and thanks for the review

Great table with a very good design.

Like many, I'm not that crazy about the music, but that's no big deal, I think I will change the tracks for Monley Islands OST... Should do the trick :)

Very good table :)

This table is just awesome!!!! Great story, interesting missions, great visuals, great soundeffects and soundtrack(s). What are you waiting for? Download it... NOW!! :D

It was the very first table I installed on my flipper cab (yes I'm quite new to this great hobby...) and it is one of the most played!

On minor thing: Since I have various RGB Buttons, I put some DOF events for lighting up launch and fire button (canon) in the script (could not find anything like that). Maybe this could be helpful for others in the next version?

Anyway, keep on doing great tables!!! Unfortunately I'm not that creative, so I rely on you!! ;)

Cheers

I made two attempts to like this table, but unfortunately I couldn’t. It could have been the best pirate-themed table, but the music completely kills the atmosphere. I’m not able to play for long — it just feels like someone is disrupting my pinball game with random music from the radio. It’s more or less like playing classical music in a racing game.

It’s a shame, because visually the table is very attractive. I hope that one day it gets a classic musical score that actually fits the theme.

edit: epicMetal version is much better than my previous attempts with SplitEnz

Véritable petite œuvre d'art  😍

This is a fun table to play, it has a nice flow, looks great (especially in VR) and the sounds (call outs, music, table sounds etc) are all very well done. The overview video of the table is a nice touch too. Thanks to all involved, two thumbs up!!

I'm putting it it there that if anyone can make a full sound design mod of the game with the music they like , I will take the time to critique it and if I like it, I will post it here as a download. I've had requests for quite a varied styles of music, sea shanties assassins creed, aylestorm, leigerstern and other stuff. I've listened to these suggestions & just can't find enough material to drive the tempo & mood of the game up and down the way I'd like. It might be that I'm just not into that music suggested but I appreciate and respect that others are. If you would like to make something you think is worthy of distribution please send me the version via personal message and I will give it due consideration.

With submissions, I expect that the music drives the tempo of the game up and down in the right spots & I expect it to be balanced. It must be fun and tie in with callouts. I must be able to hear the table sounds and callouts and nothing is out of place. It must transfer to 2:1 stereo for desktop & 7:1 SSF. I think you can gather that sticking in 10 songs and double thumbs up doesn't cut it for me. It's a lot of work and trial and error. If people are serious enough to put the time and effort I am very interested in what is produced. I'm hoping something good. For those who just want to tinker for personal use and the table inspires them to do so. Go for it! That's how we all learn. Most importantly have fun. "Raise the sails ya scurvy dogs. We have treasure to collect"
