"Get A Clue!"

VPW are proud to present Spectrum by Bally.

Sixtoe was looking for a relatively simple but good looking table to scratch build start to finish himself, mainly to teach himself Blender and the VPX toolkit and this seemed to tick all the boxes. But before that the playfield and plastics needed to be redrawn, with Sixtoe doing the playfield and cyberpez doing an amazing job of the plastics.

Spectrum is a very rare game in the wild (500 made with over half unsold / scrapped), it was unsuccessful mainly because when it was released no-one understood the rules as they're very different from normal, so I very much suggest reading the rules or watching the rules video linked at the bottom, but quick overview;

It's literally a pinball version of the Mastermind board game.
You have to guess 4 colours in a row, hit all 3 drop targets to guess that colour.
If you guessed right the colour will flash, if you guess it wrong it will be solid.
If you hit a lit saucer or the center top saucer they will give you a clue.
If you guess all 4 in the correctly it will increase your superstar status.

VPW Strikes again! Awesome job on Spectrum.  It's always been a favorite game of mine and is just a bit different to play. Little confusing at first, but very fun game overall.  This version plays very well and looks excellent!

This is a very interesting table, the game is very different... and there are so many lights on the playfield!

VPW nailed it, congratulations and thanks for sharing

Response from the author:

Thanks!
The table has an entire other lamp driver board to deal with the 100+ lamps!

You guys should be given some kind of award for curating all these works of art - it's like having my own museum of pinball at home.

I can understand why this pin didn't succeed out in the wild as I suspect its only by owning one that you would get a good understanding of the ruleset. Great fun though and  I cracked the code for the first time last night and won my first star.

Thank you so much for everything you all provide to this community - even more so when unusual forgotten classics like this are rescued and given the full treatment!

I probably stand in a very small group when I say that this is one of the most fun tables that I have ever played. I really love it!

That aside, VPW has created another amazingly realistic and beautiful gem of a table.

Thank you!

Tables with DMD, EM or Solid State (LED). No problem, they are perfect from VPW.

I haven't installed it yet, but this is certainly another excellent edition of VPW.

The editons are visually perfect. Almost a real table for those who play in 3D or VR mode. Although the editions are increasingly heavy, requiring more capable CPUs and GPUs to play in VPX GL 3D or VR. However, for the VPX DX9 mode in 2D, the old CPUs and GPUs still keeping good performance.

Thank you very much guys

Quirky! And a lot of fun!
Looks and plays really well. I loved playing Mastermind with my mom as a kid so will have to figure out how the game translates to this table. Thank you for recreating this rare and unique piece and making it a treat for VPX!

It's totally awesome !

It will be hard to have the chance playing this table for real, so discovering it with this amazing VPX version is crazy !

Thank's to the team, thank you again and again for giving us all this amount of virtual pinball.
The render on your last work is far beyond expectation. It's looking so good, the brain sometime don't know if it's real or not.

Crazy !

When I was a kid I I actually did play "Mastermind" with my older sister. She beat me every time, I had a hard time understanding the rules of that game. Now with "Spectrum" I feel I´ve come full circle..This is basically "Mastermind" in pinball form.  Your pinball skills are really put to the test here. In this game You'll need super fast reaction when those balls shoots into the playfield  towards the flippers, and supreme skills to knock those colored targets down. Thing is @VPinWorkshop has made this table a joy to play. This is beautiful table with lighting effects that goes above and beyond  what I would think was possible with 64bit graphics. This is not just pinball, but a work of art. I could stare at this awesome playfield all day. It really feels THAT real! I can´t thank the guys at VPIN enough. AMAZING work!!

An unexpected gem!

Great gameplay and such a fun unique table with unique rules and a insanely good looking and playing reproduction of VPW. It doesn't get better than this I think. Thanks to the whole team.

Many thanks to all the team involved making this outstanding table. It plays great.
My only complain is that i seem to be "NULL" to master the game. Nonetheless, it is so addictive that i ended up playing it all the evening - you just cannot stop!
Congratulation and thanks to the VPW Crew and not to forget: also a shoutout to @Hauntfreaks for this nice backglass!!

Thank you Sixtoe for leading the way on this one. You and all involved did a tremendous job on this!  This was not a table I had ever seen before. What alot of fun to play. It took several games to get my brain rewired to play this effectively.  It's different than Beat The Clock, but I get the same quirky feel playing it. What a great hobby. Thanks again to all the authors on this and VPW on everything else they have created!

The ruleset for this game is very unique, but once you get the hang of it and complete your first code it feels so rewarding.  Great Job as always to all involved!
