I'm running the non GL 10.8  I found that if I click Ignore aspect ratio I can do what I want with it.. something I didn't have to do in previous versions.. no problem after that except the previously mentioned Blurry Lighting.

Freezy still working on the blurry lighting

Ah, but thought thats not the plugin that works with this version. Thats lucky1's own adjusted dmdext (as i recall it corre tly)

A new plugin should be available for this version.

nais.
So you used this version, added plugin information into the dmddevcie.ini and added pin2color(64).dll  ?
That didn't worked for me. It gave that  the plugin failed to load

No I do not have plugin paths in the dmddevice.ini. ( I noted these paths in terryreds fp/bam dmddevice.ini though I do not use his) As I said I run DX desktop 10.8.0 beta 1307. The pin2color dll's are in the vpinmame folder.

First post updated with the blur fix. Thanks to @MikeDASpike for debugging this with me at 6:30 in the morning, and @lucky1 for confirming it.

This thread is about the new beta, so please keep in on that topic, because as you can see, your comment added more confusion than anything else.

I and one other person I know of cant get the DMD to stretch vertically only horizontally..  64 bit

Video please, if you have ignorear set to true, it should stretch in both directions.

Sorry about that. I thought I was answering the gentleman's question is all. Will be more careful going forward.

Must be my misunderstanding, As I thought you had pin2dmdcolor already working with this version.
Must be my Dutch that I didn't understand it

Thanks Freezy for letting me help you do some testing at this ridiculous time (but I really appreciate you confirmed to my early time)

i did some testing (most on 64 bit dll).
Default DMD stuff like Zen FX and Vpinmame is working like a charm now (also 2nd time, colors , adding modifications to dmddevice.ini)

  • FlexDMDUI.exe still not showing anything when using real DMD (Shows when set to virtual.
    (Same issue as PinballX ?)
  • PinupPlayer bit same. When setting to Virtual DMD, I have a good working virtual DMD, but setting it to real DMD, I don't get anything
For some reason I cannot find any DMDdevice.log Not when running in Virtual mode, but also not in Real DMD mode 😵‍💫

Beside of the minor above issues, I didn't find anything huge that should not work/hang or shows blurry

Edit: dont think that pupplayer has to do with dmddevice. I dont know how it works, but looks like it reads the dmddevice.ini, but not using the dlls
Nailbuster knows more about it. So forget that part

As I  barely use puppack for normall tables, i didnt check if vpinmame events where send to  pup

FYI, using 2.2.0.9 64bit  I was getting crashes on some tables, Congo (VPW) for example. Going back to 2.0.0 and the tables run. Here is my DmdDevice.log for examination if required. Using vni/pal files for color DMD (PinDMD3)

DmdDevice.log 4.55 kB · 0 downloads

Hmm , i tested with r8 and see you have r9. I will  later with r9

I've updated the first post to latest, it's now r101, and I've fixed the naming of the build as well.

@studlygoorite Thanks for the report, but your log doesn't contain the crash. Was the crash with Congo? How long did you play until it crashed?

Yes, one of the tables was Congo and I could not play at all, the table would load and then crash (maybe didn't even load completely. The VPX crash.txt didn't have any pertinent info that I could see. Using VPX-GL v1314 64bit. Oops, I didn't mention I was running VR if that matters.

Update, Just tried the latest 2.2.0.102 and still have the issue. Going back to v2.0.0 and all is good again.

I can confirm that if I enable pin2dmd and virtual FlexDMDUI displays on both, but if if I set virtual to false and only pin2dmd is enabled nothing is displayed on the real DMD

I have the same as @lucky1
setting my virtual DMD to true (and also my PinDMDv3), it shows on both 'screens' , settings in dmddevice.ini only my real DMD, it shows nothing

Same behavior within PinballX. Enabling the virtual DMD, shows make the real DMD appear as well (only after launching a game, PinballX will crash, but thin thats a PinballX issue)

Would you happen to have a NVIDIA card?  I ask because I had this problem previously and it went away when I installed a newer version of the NVIDA drivers.  THe issue appeared when I did a windows .net update through windows update,  but went away when I updated my NVIDIA drivers.  Not saying its the root cause, but maybe it will help isolate this issue?

When I was mostly checking if all was working, i noticed today a huge frame drop when using the real dmd with zen FX.

The tables like "a samurai's vengance", "verne's mysterious island" (think most table that has a non 128x32 display), are have a very bad performance when showing the score on my pindmdv3.

When turning my real dmd off via dmddevice.ini and enable the virtual, the game is running smooth again.

Anyone else experience this as well ?

I updated first post with fix for FlexDMD. @MikeDASpike could you test if this fixes your PinballX issue as well?

Then there seems to be an issue with PUP not triggering for all events in the 32-bit version. Lucky1 reported this, but can't give me more details, because, well, for some reason, he prefers outsourcing the testing to others, which apparently don't have more details.

So, if anybody with good PUP experience could confirm the bug (remember: 32-bit only), and let me know how to reproduce, that'd be awesome. Ideally with a VPX table link, PUP link, and what I need to do in the game to reproduce. Baywatch 1.0.5 was a reported game that had missing triggers, but I'm kinda clueless what to look for. Cheers!

Hi @freezy. Not at the cab now, but thought I download r105 last week and worked much better with flexdmd and pinballx.

Only strange part: when I load vpinballx_gl from pinballx, pinballx is hanging, as with the older version of your beta with pinballx.

Not sure if this is a dmdext issue, but if i set dmddevice.ini to only ise the virtual, all is working fine. So for now, I dont use the gl version with realdmd

Yes, this is on FX's side and I reported it a few weeks ago. They are looking into it.

Nais. Thought it was a realdmd issue, as virtual dmd worked, but good to hear zen is working on it

@freezy
I upgraded to R107 (was on R105). I can launch PinballX with real DMD support

I can play a game (vpinmame game where DMD is working) and exit back to PinballX where the video's where still playing.

When setting PinballX to use the GL version of Visual Pinball, PinballX will start with working DMD.
Launching a Visual Pinball table works (vpinmame shows a working DMD as well), but PinballX will hung in the background and will never get responsive again.

note : PinballX needs a DMDdevice64.dll in the pinballX install folder and also a dmddevice.ini.

Setting in the dmddevice.ini that PinballX uses to use a real DMD, but not a virtualDMD and doing the other way around for Vpinmame (disable realDMD and enable virtual), I have a working DMD in PinballX, can launch a table from the GL version of visual Pinball (Vpinmame shows a virtual), and exit table to PinballX works as well.

Setting Vpinmame to use realDMD and Virtal DMD, PinballX will hung at the moment the table is loaded and Vpinmame is started (only with Gl version)

I can grab logs for you,l et me know if you want them

Wondering if anyone can help me with this.  I'm running a cab with pin2dmd, and what I suppose is a pretty old version of dmddevice.dll.  If I try to upgrade to any recent version, the DMD doesn't respond at all.  I don't get any messages or errors, it just doesn't work.  I figure it must be something obvious I'm not understanding, because upgrading seems like it should be pretty straight-forward.

Please don´t hitchhike a thread to address very specific problems. Open a new one !

P.S.

Is your pin2dmd visible in the windows device list ?

Which USB driver do you use ? libusb32 needs libusbk.dll next to the dmddevice.dll
