Thanks for watching the video, there's really only a few french people using PinemHi as far as I know.

No offense about the Windows 3.1 joke I really think that simple is better. And your software is very light that's the most important thing.

I'm still lost about that "cancel_button" thing. 😂🤔🤔

So been playing couple weeks now. I really do like it, had a couple glitches in kiddie , that I needed 15mil points , got to 9m game froze but record the 9mill for points. Played another game and was at 19mill and game froze but didn't record the score., played again and past the 15 mill.  I ended game early to record the score. Today I notice a leader board challenge,  how do I enter that too? Or do I have to finish the kiddie first? Also I love love love the golf challenge.

Posted (edited)

Hi @spolik

Those glitches were very nasty 😞and just not once...terrible , it must have been a bad table or something. (which table was it?)
Really can't do anything about that pinemhi wise unfortunately

You can enter the leaderboard challenge by setting the challengeskill line to 2 in pinemhi.ini
challengeskill=2

You have to stop and start the pinemhi_rom_monitor to activate it, as it only reads the pinemhi.ini when you start it.
Now if you start a challenge it will be the leaderboard ones instead of kiddie......but they are very hard to achieve.....The first few are the same as kiddie but then a lot higher....Enter at your own risk haha 😁
You don't have to finish kiddie first btw

Nice to hear you love the golf-challenge 👍☺️

I really thought I would win it this week 😬.... don't think i'll be able to go under once more

so Another Question? changing the Challengeskill from 1 to 2 , can i keep just going back and forth, im on level 7 on kiddie, sadly i keep hitting the L while typing and forgetting about it. well im waiting out the failed time can i try the leaderboard  without making the kiddie challenge start back at level 1?

Posted

Hi @spolik

Yes , if you change the challengeskill in pinemhi.ini and restart pinemhi_rom_monitor you can start the leaderboard one....if you switch back to kiddie you will still be at the same level as before (level 7) and vice versa

dna disturber, i just played eight ball deluxe and only got like 580,000 and when it reboot it said i had 9,999,999 , which i didnt get , can you delete that score somehow? im gonna delete the table and reinstall so itll get rid of that highscore, i only want scores that i actually got,

i see that score is gone. if you did that thank you..

Yes, i saw that one and thought let me delete that one for him (clearly the issue described below here)

It has something to do with a completely new nvram (mostly playing the game for the first time) , then something sometimes goes wrong on the older tables.

The older ones are a bit of a nightmare to get right as the byte adresses are also used for the highest score being displayed when not playing

Have to compare a bunch of other byte adresses to get the correct ones

And apparently also these kind of issues with fresh nvrams occur

It did it again :( , my highest score is only 825890,  but showing 9,999,999  again. Wonder if it's because I'm trying to find the volume , I hit end to open door but doesn't seem to work on this table. If I hit 7 same time as end , it will scroll through numbers that I've no idea what they are.

Hmm not sure as to why this happens but anyway I deleted the score from the database ☺️

New version PINemhi & PINemHi LeaderBoard is out (version 3.6.8)

New feature : Ability to display your pinemhi scores in your frontend while browsing

https://www.pinemhi.com/pinemhi scores in frontend.mp4 (example of the new feature)

You can download the new version from https://www.pinemhi.com

You should overwrite your pinemhi.ini and copy the values back into it as changes have been made to pinemhi.ini
Best is to make a backup from your old pinemhi.ini so that you can copy the values into the new pinemhi.ini

**********************
PINemHi Version 3.6.8
**********************

PINemHi LeaderBoard Changes:

Added the following Romless games to PINemHi LeaderBoard (needs code in table script to work and romsub.exe to be placed in tables directory):
Blizzard of Ozz
Bud Spencer & Terence Hill
Game of Thrones
Kiss (Stern)
Americas Most Haunted
The Matrix
------------------------------------------------------------------
Added the following roms to PINemHi LeaderBoard:
ft_l5p
*bay_402   (Baywatch)
*tmnt_200   (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
*These two above are unofficial roms by Pinballcode.com (scoring is different than other official roms)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Badges added to PINemHi Leaderboard:
Scores
All of the above (new) games

Special scores
Kiss (Stern)   (combo champion 3x)
Game of Thrones   (stark, baratheon , lannister , greyjoy , winter has come,. hand of the king , iron throne)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
New features PINemHi LeaderBoard:

Feature *1*
You can now select how many scores you want to see in the popups and also if you want to see them with or without the datetime or time
This can be set in the pinemhi.ini file (1 is on and 0 is off for the nodatetime and time option, top can be a number between 1 and 10)
[online]
nodatetime=0
notime=0
top=5

Feature *2*
Showboard.exe
Ability to display your pinemhi scores in your frontend while browsing (pinemhi_rom_monitor must be running).
You can set the display to :
personal   (your top x scores on pinemhi leaderboard)
friends   (your highest score + best scores of your friends on pinemhi leaderboard)
best   (the highest scores on pinemhi leaderboard)
badges   (the badges you achieved on pinemhi leaderboard)
local   (shows the hiscores from the table itself)

Usage in PINUP:
First set up a screen in Pinup which one you want to use , topper, other or dmd (i believe best thing is to set it on Forcepop)
Find the corresponding directory to the images for that screen , for instance d:\vpin\Pinup\Media\Visual Pinball\Topper
then set this line in  closescript in emulator VPX
"d:\pinemhi\showboard.exe" "[GAMENAME]" "d:\vpin\Pinup\Media\Visual Pinball\Topper" personal round 100 5 notime
This is just an example of course ,you should change the full path to showboard.exe(must be in your pinemhi directory) and  also the full path to where you want to display it
And also of course activate the selected display window in pinup (for instance topper)

Explanation about the commandline
the first part: "d:\pinemhi\showboard.exe" (alter the path to your pinemhi directory , put this in quotations marks as there are maybe spaces in the path)
the second part: "[GAMENAME]" (leave this as is , Pinup will revert this to the actual gamename, again in quotations marks as there are maybe spaces in the gamename)
the third part: "d:\vpin\Pinup\Media\Visual Pinball\Topper"  (alter the path to where you want to use the scores/badges , put this in quotations marks as there are maybe spaces in the path)
the fourth part: personal (alter this to the output you want to see , see list above for your options, you must have it enabled in pinemhi.ini also otherwise it won't work)
the fifth part: round (gives you rounded edges , change it to square for squared edges)
the 6th part: 100 (this is the percentage of opacity for the text, lower this to see some background through the text)
the 7th part: 5 (this determines how many scores you want to display 1 to 10 can be used)
the 8th part:  notime  (you can select if you want to have the hiscores with or without  the datetime or time, options are notime and nodatetime * if you leave this blank you get the date and time with your scores)

You can also select one background for all your screenshots for showboard.exe, simply by putting a background.png in the pinemhi\pinemhi leaderboard\backgrounds directory
You can also have a different background for each game by naming a background the to gamename in your frontend, so for instance Attack from Mars (1995).png in the pinemhi\pinemhi leaderboard\backgrounds directory
The gamename background for instance Attack from Mars (1995).png will be selected if you also have the default background.png in the directory
This will of course only work if you have the option  no_background=0 set in pinemhi.ini and of course for badges no_badges_background=0 (otherwise they are transparant and no backgrond will show up)

*You have to play a game first after you put in the closescript to get it displayed (data needs to be retrieved of course after closing a game)

This can also be done in Pinballx (set as closescript)
instead of "[GAMENAME]" it should be "[TABLENAME]"
"d:\pinemhi\showboard.exe" "[TABLENAME]" "d:\pinballx\Media\Visual Pinball\Topper" personal round 100 5 notime
*Note that there also is a Pinballx plugin made by Scutters that lets you display the pinemhi leaderboard scores , you could also try that one out

Pinbally should also be possible I think to make the new feature work but Ihaven't investigated it yet
------------------------------------------------------
Bugs fixed PINemHi Leaderboard:
-hiscores cycle of screens on cabinet/pc didn't start with first one
-gamenames that had an ampersand ( & ) in it weren't displayed properly in popups
-Dr. Who names were changed in newer vpinmame , also included Doctor Who names in romfind.ini
------------------------------------------------------

PINemHi Changes:

Added the following roms:
rab_103it  ,  rab_110be   (The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends)
mav_404g   (Maverick)
rollr_ta2   (Rollergames)
rollst21   (Rolling Stones)
grgar_l2   (Gorgar)
hs_p4g   (High Speed)
ngndshkm   (Nitro Groundshaker)
wildfyrc   (WildFyre)
bcats_f1 , bcats_tcm , bcats_tcm12 , bcats_tcm13   (Bad Cats)
wrldtou3 , wrldtou4   (Al's Garage Band Goes On a World Tour)
diner_l4fr   (Diner)
polic_lx5   (Police Force)
tsptr_l3fj , tsptr_lx4 ,  tsptr_lx4b   (Transporter the Rescue )
bay_402   (Baywatch)
tmnt_200   (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
------------------------------------------------------
added the following rom-less to PINemHi:
Most vpreg.stg top 5 scores should work, use the tablename/cgamename (found in the tablescript) to show the hiscores e.g. pinemhi b66_orig
Special scores added for:
Kiss (Stern)   - uses kiss_original_2016 as cgamename
The Matrix  - uses matrix as cgamename
-------------------------------------------------------

To anyone who downloaded pinemhi version 3.6.8 , i made a boo boo

I forgot to put the pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe in the zip file

The right zipfile is on the website now

Please download the zip file from the website again , if you already installed the version without pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe then you can just extract that filefrom it and overwrite it

https://www.pinemhi.com

Sorry for any inconvenience,

UPDATE TO BELOW:

I think I've figured out the problem! For whatever reason, the pinemhi monitor doesn't like how I exit a table with the ESC key. For the last week while I've been trouble shooting various issues, I haven't been using my normal front-end (VPX Launcher for VR).  If I exit a table via VPX Launcher, rom tables work just fine. If I exit with ESC, using just VPX, the problems below happen.

This doesn't solve the ongoing romsub.exe issue, unfortunately. It still won't close the window and submit score. I have to End Task romsub.

Dna, we were communicating via email about the ongoing issue I'm having with romsub not shutting down, and now I'm seeing that 3.6.8 is not working with rom'd games.

No matter which rom table I try, the log always ends the same way (I removed my player name):

The nvram DOES exist. It exists at the location Pinemhi.ini thinks, including the \ at end of line. I can see that the Fish Tales NVRam was updated at table exit. No files are blocked and this happens running as Administrator or not, in VR and not running VR.

Hi Jaklar,

Sorry for the late response..had a little bit of a health scare

nvram doesn't update can happen when you exit vpx the wrong way (most of the time exit game in vpx and exit game frontend using the same button)

That has nothing to do with pinemhi but only gets noted because you use pinemhi

But in this case it would almost seem as that your vpx communicates with a different vpinmame than the one your path leads to in pinemhi.ini

About the romsub...some other players also have this issue but not everyone...
Not sure yet what is causing that, maybe skip the romless ones for now

Hi, Hope you're healthy.

I updated to 3.6.8. Thanks for adding Bud Spencer & Terence Hill Table and some roms like ft_l5p.

Again sometimes the score is sent (quite rare), most of the time they're not.
I finish a game, wait a few seconds until Game Over display, then exit the game. Wait a few seconds more before leaving Pinup Popper.

Hello DnaDisturber, hope all is well. I seen you had a health scare. I have another question about pinemhi. I have my son that started playing some tables, I created an account for him and got a code,  I added his name in the script for friends1= , but that's as far as I got. He played a game and my name was posted. I'm not sure how to add friends that play  "my" cabinet and they don't have a cabinet,  I was hoping that there would be a way for name and couple more friends to show up on my highscore list.hopefully I'm just missing a simple step. Or maybe it can't be done?

Not sure why this happens though...unfortunately i can't investigate it further at the moment
hopefully i can look into it in a short while

You can do that if you switch the name and code in your pinemhi.ini to your son's when he plays.
maybe you can create a batch file that copies the  pinemhi.ini with his name in it to make it work and switch it back to your user and code before you start playing

You have to stop and start the pinemhi_rom_monitor every time though as pinemhi_rom_monitor only reads the pinemhi.ini on start
The friends part was more designed to see other users score not using the same cab

Hello again DnaDisturber. I've finally started trying to get romless tables setup,  first being GOTG, I put romsub in tables folder, start the table, and the pinemhi block showing GOTG highscore. But when I play the table and exit I get an error. (See pic). When it does this I click the ok button then 2 more errors come up. One being the pinup popper wheel missing, and have to restart popper again. I copied and pasted the code from the pinemhi romless section. Not sure if I missed anything else?

Hi spolik,

This doesn't seem related to pinemhi but to the frontend itself (pinup popper)

maybe the puppack is corrupt.

If you play the game without pinemhi_rom_monitor running, does it still give the error

Did the game run fine before you inserted the tablescript code for pinemhi?

The t2_l8 should normally work
nvram .nv modified: 28-May-2026 16:40:07
time now: 28-May-2026 16:40:07

this is somewhat suspicious as it normally would be a few seconds between them
I would say that the nvram is updated a little bit late and that causes pinemhi to not see the new score but extract the old score (as the nvram isn't updated on time).
Maybe a slight delay is causing this on exiting the table (i think this also happened earlier with some tables for you)
Not sure what would be causing this though

I'll prepara a special pinemhi-rom_monitor you (in your dm)
This one will have longer waiting times, so it will all take longer to send the scores and switch from and to  5minute mode
See if  this helps to see if delays are really causing it

It seems you can't receive messages here when i try to send you one
So i'll just put it here

I've put in delays that are 3 times as long.

Normally not needed but maybe we can see if this is indeed due to a delay.
Everything will take longer, not sure if it will be noticable for you , normally i would say no but you shouldn't start a table after exiting the previous within let's say 10 seconds to make sure it all works well

You can download the altered pinemhi_rom_monitor using this link
https://pinemhi.com\pinemhi_rom_monitor_dicentim.zip
Just copy and paste the link in the browser otherwise it will no
t work (at least for me it goes to the top of this page when i click on it)

Hi @DnaDisturber, sorry I just saw your message, I tried replacing with your pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe, in vain.
Il also tried 3 differents ROM files :

https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/993-t2_l8zip/

https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=7318

https://www.planetemu.net/rom/mame-roms-merged/t2-l8
Once again, no recording.  Of course I also tried to delete the Nvram file, in vain.
A friend of mine : ID = Harry Koseck also have the same issue with T2.

Maybe could you please send me your t2_l8.zip rom file and your nvram to be sure...

I saw Maxi 40b (VPA Team) was able to enter a score this morning on T2 table.
Have a nice sunday.

I'll tried to use a former version of Vpinmame. Couls you please send me your t2_l

Maybe it's the table causing this.
Perhaps there is no table1_exit sub or something.
Which table are you using?

I think I'm using this table

Maybe I patched it with :

EDIT : I Reinstalled the default G5k table, pinemHi 3.6.8 files and still nothing. The log is :

----------------------------------------------------------------------
31/05/2026, 16:18
pinemhi rom monitor version :  3.6.8.0
pinemhi leaderboard version :  3.6.8.0
VPinmame version :  3.7.0.267
Player :  Dicentim_DDB
detected game with rom description :  Terminator 2: Judgment Day (L-8)
matching romname :
previous  score extracted

pinemhi rom monitor version :  3.6.8.0

*** previous score is equal to new score ***
*** probably because there was no game played ***
*** it could also be that this rom is not supported (yet) ***
*** this score will not be submitted ***

*** it could also be that your nvram didn't update ***
*** NVRAM ADDITIONAL CHECK ***
checking nvram directory: C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\nvram\ does exist -> OK
nvram .nv modified: 31-May-2026 16:26:56
time now: 31-May-2026 16:26:56
nvram seems to be updated less than 2 minutes ago after exit from vpinball. -> OK

Please note that for this log I entered a high score so the nvram has updated.

EDIT 2 :
I also tried using t2_l6 rom ans same result :
