DnaDisturber Posted November 29, 2025 Author Posted November 29, 2025 (edited) Hi YoungGabe53 or should i say OldGabe53 Nice to hear that you like the leaderboard... About the rom-less problem: Hard to to tell with only the piece of logging but my bet would be that the USER directory is missing in the pinemhi.ini file or that it doesn't refer to the correct path. Since you are on pinemhi version 3.6.3 it is possible that you used the pinemhi.ini from a version before and in that version there is no USER directory yet. Hopefully that is it , then the solution would be to add this line under [paths] in pinemhi.ini: USER=D:\Visual Pinball\user\ but then with the correct path of course (and don't forget to put the \ at the end of the path) If it's not the User path then we have to look a bit further. It could also be that if you use a frontend (pinup popper) with the romm-less games then the puppack/backglass stays running after exiting a game. (then the scores are also not submitted)........That could also be a reason. When you play it without a frontend it should work fine though This will be fixed in the upcoming version 3.6.7 Maybe it is also wise to upgrade the the latest version so you don't miss out on more games supported and some bugfixes (version 3.6.6 is the latest one) Keep submitting those scores 😎 Edited November 29, 2025 by DnaDisturber
DnaDisturber Posted December 30, 2025 Author Posted December 30, 2025 (edited) New version PINemhi & PINemHi LeaderBoard is out (version 3.6.7) You can download it from https://www.pinemhi.com If you upgrade from version 3.6.3 or 3.6.4 or 3.6.5 or 3.6.6 then you don't have to overwrite your pinemhi.ini Upgrade from earlier version(s) than 3.6.3 should overwrite their pinemhi.ini and copy the values back into it as changes have been made to pinemhi.ini Best is to make a backup from your old pinemhi.ini so that you can copy the values into the new pinemhi.ini Whatsnew.txt: ********************** PINemHi Version 3.6.7 ********************** Added the following games to PINemHi LeaderBoard: Fire! Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World Dale Jr Grand Prix Nascar Aaron Spelling Millionaire (Williams) NBA Fastbreak Beat the Clock Cybernaut Fireball Classic Bugs fixed PINemHi Leaderboard: -Roms dm_lx4 and dm_lx3 (demolition man) not sending scores -When using pinup system exit key (to get back to the frontend after a game in 5 minute mode) focus was not on PinUpMenu anymore -First cycle of screens with personal best ,friends, badges etc off-centered -Code copied in for rom-less games causing pupplayer not to stop in frontend (pinup system) *You will need to copy the new code in for the game from code snippets on the website to make it work properly Information: From now on the pinemhi_leaderboard.exe is running with .net 4.7 because of the transition to https instead of .net 2.0 This could cause it not to work on very old computers (with OS windows 8.1 and below) pinemhi.exe will remain at .net 2.0 🍺 Edited December 30, 2025 by DnaDisturber
spolik Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Hello, I just found this program, I think I'm gonna love it , so far im able the hit ] and shows me weeky contest, I hit (L) and showed me kiddie contest I think. Told me I had 3 hours to get 7billion on AFM. I failed as I didn't really have time to play . I noticed there are more features like a 5min game and I think I seen couple more. Are there keys to hit for them or do I just open the table and it'll tell me ?

Are there keys to hit for them or do I just open the table and it'll tell me ? Hi spolik, I'm sure you gonna love it, but I am biased of course There are keys that work when you are not playing a game and vice versa You can map one single key for 2 purposes (when not playing a game and playing a game) , saves up on the number of keys You almost got all , the keys with kiddie challenge and the weekly contest....there is one to set pinemhi leaderboard to 5 minute mode (default it is the m, but you can assign it to another key in pinemhi.ini) The weekly challenges you automatically take part in when you submit a score for that game (normal, 5 minute mode or golf), first 5 get points when the week is over golf weekly challenge is to try and be as close as possible to the score that has been given but you can't get over the score as it doesn't count when you do that The kiddie challenges and leaderboard challenges are tasks that you must complete in a timeframe, doing so levels you up You also automatically take part in the cups (normal and 5 minute) when you play games (this is your total score for all games) Quote Points explanation cup(s): for every table that people have played they get points the formula being used for this is (number of participants for that table) - (position for that table) + 1 do this for every table you have played and you get your total points example attack from Mars has 107 participants and my position for that table is 23 my points would be 107 - 23 + 1 = 85 kiddie challenge , challenge and weekly challenge also give points kiddie challenge for every level you've reached 5 points (level 10 for example gives you 50 points) normal challenge for every level you've reached 10 points (level 10 for example gives you 100 points) (5min) weekly challenge for every win you get 15,8,5,3 and 1 point(s) (just the last 52 weeks count for points) golf weekly challenge for every win you get 15 points (just the last 52 weeks count for points) if you score a Hole in One on the golf weekly challenge then you win 250 points (you have to score exactly as many points as where the PIN is set at) 5-minute mode cup only has the weekly challenge (no golf) only players that are active within a year timeframe will be listed in the cup You can see all your (hi)scores on your cab/pc and also up to 9 friends and you can get badges for certain achievements for every game (also visible on cab/pc) when you use pinup system as a frontend you may want to set the game-exit key you use for that into pinemhi.ini as well to ensure you get back to pinup menu after a forced 5 minute exit of a game You can change the keys in the file pinemhi.ini [keys] ; *** You could map the challenge and key to the same button/key if you want *** ; *** You can also use joystickbuttons here , Joy1 , Joy2 or Joy3 or shift (+) and a key for instance +L *** ; *** to change the key to display the popup, don't use a key that is used by the frontend or visual pinball *** ; *** press this key multiple times to cycle through the different popups *** ; *** This key can only be used ingame *** key=L ; *** challengekey to start the challenges, don't use a key that is used by the frontend or visual pinball *** ; *** This key can only be used when not playing a game *** ; *** I would suggest using the backtick (accent grave in europe) for this key(key left from the 1) *** ; *** because if the pinemhi_rom_monitor runs this key can't be used for anything other *** ; *** This is especially true when you start pinemhi_rom_monitor on windows startup *** challengekey=L ; *** weeklychallenge shows what game it is for this week and interim scores and winner previous week *** weeklychallengekey=] ; *** This key activates 5-minute mode, this will stop gameplay after 5 minutes if game is compatible *** ; *** 5-minute mode can only be activated and deactivated outside of a game *** ; *** if using pinup system as frontend, set the exit key you use (this to make 5-minute mode work properly) *** 5min_key=m pinupsystem_exit_key=e ; *** This key sends the score when still in game , you don't have to quit the table *** ; *** You can use this best when you are done with a game (all balls played) *** ; *** Otherwise you can get the pinball missing message with the next game *** send_button=a The send button doesn't work well for me so I don't use it myself (game will often say that there are pinballs missing when playing the next game). Best way is to exit the game after a nice score Hope you like it and have fun 👍 Edited January 9 by DnaDisturber
spolik Posted January 12 Posted January 12 So is there any chance anyone has a quick simple write up how to use the keys for 5minute mode and golf? I keep clicking m to start 5minute mode but nothing ever happens, played the game and didn't take 5 minutes and no score on the 5 minute game bit score was posted to the actual game. And the golf? Somehow I was able to post a score of -26.170 pin is set to 65.1? What is 65.1? I tried a score of 65100 tried just draining the ball to get 65 points? I'm assuming the golf game will just work without clicking and hotkeys. But the 5min I can't figure out
DnaDisturber Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 (edited) No need for a key for golf. Just try to get as close as you can to the 65100 score (the pin was set at 65.100 , not 65.1 ) ...your minus score is how far you were away from the pin score If you go over 65100 then it isn't valid (the pin score to get to is different for every game , changes weekly...just changed to another game in fact) If you finish first you get 15 points for the cup As for 5 minute mode, you can switch it on or off only when outside of a game. if you are in your frontend and you press m , it will tell you it is on or off (voice)...it will stay on till you press it again outside of a game (so if you play a different game it also will be started in 5 minute mode) I assume you wanted to start it when you were already in a game, that's probably why it didn't work If this was not the case please let me know because then something else is going on Edited January 12 by DnaDisturber
spolik Posted January 12 Posted January 12 So golf I think got figured out. Still can't get the 5 minutes, I'm using pinup popper front-end. I have a playlist for the pinemhi tables. I go into playlist and before selecting table I hit m and nothing happens.
spolik Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Another question for the kiddie rounds. Can you play more then one player? I just played a 4 player round and my 2nd place score was 6,665,123,123 about.. and I noticed that my personal best still shows 3,849,831,950. So I'm assuming only 1st place scores count?
spolik Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Ok i think I have the 5min figured out. It doesn't talk or say anything but hit m then go into game shows me 5min. Thanks

You probably have the sounds turned off in pinemhi.ini , that's why you don't get the confirmation (voice saying it) or perhaps the sound is muted when in pinupmenu? Hi Dicentim, First off ...welcome to the pinemhi family I will hopefully answer all your questions , so that it all makes a little bit more sense - I have to run pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe as administrator As for pinemhi_rom_monitor , it does not have to be run as administrator (better not run it as administrator to prevent issues i would say) - I play a game then when the game is over I press the send_button (s in my case) or the pinupsystem_exit_key button (e in my case) to send the score. Why 2 buttons please ? Do I have to quit every game in Pinup to send my score ? If you play a game and you think it's a nice score....exit the game and it will be submitted , you can use the send button and stay in the game but I'm always having issues with pinballs missing message when i start the next game My advice would be to not use the send button and just exit the game As for the pinup_exit_key, you should set this to the exact same key in pinup (if you use that frontend) that you use to exit games No need to press it at anytime , it is just needed for pinemhi to correctly kill vpx and return to pinup in a correct way when you are in 5-minute mode. With or without a frontend, your score will be submitted only when you exit a game (unless you use the send button, but that isn't always working great, just my experience ) I don't understand the weeklychallengekey and the challengekey, is it only to display the leaderboards or I have to press these keys before playing to register challenge ? If you press the challenge-key you will be given a challenge, so you trigger the challenge to start (for instance make a score of 7 Million in 2 hours for Back to the future), if you fail you have to wait three days to try it again (once you succeed you will level up and another challenge will pop up if you push the key.) The weekly challenge key will only show the leaderboard for the weekly competition. What's the difference between key=d and challengekey =d (I mapped the same button d for this 2 lines) ? The mapping of the same button twice is because some keys you can only use when playing a game and some only when you are not in a game. Therefore you can set the same key but it will function differently when in a game and outside of a game So for instance , you can use the "d" key to cycle through the popups when you are in a game (letting you see your best scores, friend scores, badges etc) * by the way if you turn on autorotate it will automatically cycle through them but you can also use the "d" key outside of a game to start the challenge , because you can't start a challenge inside a game So the weekly challenges are actually competitions , you enter them just by submitting a score for that game (you have normal, 5 minute mode and golf) With golf you have to come as close as you can to the score given , anything over that score won't count. You can earn points for the cup as well (just setting scores, first 5 on the weekly challenges get points, the kiddie challenge level gets you points) Finally I tried to record a score for this week table (The party zone) but it didn't work. My rom name is ps_f4.zip. You probably mean the pz_f4.zip Normally it is supposed to work with that rom, not sure as i don't have any pieces of the log....if it keeps on failing then we should investigate more Sometimes tables don't have a Table1_exit Sub in them or something else is causing the nvram not being updated. If you play a game of partyzone and exit , and then go the Pinemhi Leaderboard directory you wll find a log that maybe helps.... P.S. If you use Pinup as a frontend make sure you are on the newest pinemhi, version 3.6.7 This makes sure that focus goes to pinupmenu after you play a 5 minute mode game And also there is a fix for pinup popper on backglass keeps running with rom-less games Hope this helps....if you still have questions...send them and i'll try to answer Dna Disturber Edited January 29 by DnaDisturber
Dicentim Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) @DnaDisturberHi ! Thanks taking the time with that detailed answer. Really appreciated. I finally understood that I needed to enable weekly challenge BEFORE launching the game and not after. So I finally saved my first score on Party Zone. I can imagine it's the exact same thing for "close to the pin" and "5 minutes" mode (after enabling that mode). The only issue is that if I try to launch pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe on the launch script of Pinup with start "" "C:\PinUPSystem\PINemHi\pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe - Shortcut.lnk" and close it when returning on the menu : taskkill /f /im "pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe" Then I can't press the challenge key before launching the table. Some last questions please : Can I manually add some roms in romfind.ini ? Like bay_402 (last rom for Baywatch) ? I'd also like to add the original tables (without rom) we've created : https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/21216-bud-spencer-terence-hill-table-pup-pack/ Is it possible to add more than 9 friends ? It it possible to have a callout audio feedback when pressing the "send score" for example "teh score has been transmitted" cause when pressing the key I don't know if it's good. Do you think it's possible to create more filters to create "mini tournaments with friends" for example on a table leaderboard adding a "friends only" option in the "all names" list. Also adding a filter to display only scores in last 24h, 1 week, and so on.... Thanks again I'm returning playing a bit more ! Have a nice day ! Edited January 29 by Dicentim

Glad to see you've gotten a score on partyzone, however you don't need to enable the weekly challenges , that's the kiddie challenge that you need to start using a key (outside gameplay) You join the weekly challenges just by submitting a score for these games, don't have to do anything else pinemhi_rom_monitor is designed to be running all the time ....if you have a cab it would be best to start pinemhi_rom_monitor when starting the pc and let pinemhi_rom_monitor run Otherwise a lot of the features won't work (anything you need to start outside of a game ,as you already mentioned kiddie challenge for instance) Now for your other questions: Can I manually add some roms in romfind.ini ? Like bay_402 (last rom for Baywatch) ? you can but it won't do anything , To add a rom I have to add it in the database and also in the programs to get the right bytes out of the nvram I can see if i can add this one in the new release. I'd also like to add the original tables (without rom) we've created : https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/21216-bud-spencer-terence-hill-table-pup-pack/ You can't add tables yourself unfortunately , same as with the new rom....some work has to be done to make it all work is it possible to add more than 9 friends ? Nobody has so many friends on pinemhi.....do they ? Unfortunately the answer is no do you think it's possible to create more filters to create "mini tournaments with friends" for example on a table leaderboard adding a "friends only" option in the "all names" list. Also adding a filter to display only scores in last 24h, 1 week, and so on Friends only wouldn't work cause I can't tell who is making the selection online Display only scores from last 24h , week , month could be done , maybe something to add in the future
Dicentim Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Perfect that's clearer !! I forgot to ask you why in game pressing the challenge_key or the weekly_challenge key doesn't show the popup. It remains under the table.

The weekly_challenge key works in game and outside the game (showing the popup) The challenge key only works outside because otherwise you could try to get the score first and then start the challenge and then just exit (getting to the next level) You can't do that if you have to start the game after you press the challenge key Edited January 29 by DnaDisturber
Dicentim Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Thanks, I'll investigate cause or pressing the weekly challenge key (g key in my case) is displaying the weekly leaderboard under my table playfield.
Dicentim Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Hi @DnaDisturber, I tried many things to display the PinEmHi popups above the playfield but no way. Not a big deal cause it's ok on the backglass by the way here are the settings for 4K playfield / 1080p backglass owners so you get a centered window with a size 15 font : [display] fontsize=s15 fontspecial=bold cabinetview=0 screen=2 manualoffset_x_centered=1 x_start=3840 x_end=5760 y_value=480 I also used the Pinup popper script to run PinemHi with Popper's start and end it when closing Popper. I got an error when trying to directly run the "pinemhi_rom_monitor.exe" directly in the script so I had to create a shorcut and trigger this one. Now it's ok. My 2 features requests please : - As you said the "send_button" does not work, I'd really love you can fix it. - I'd like to have a "cancel_button" so this button temporarly disables the score sending because very often I send a bad and useless score to your database. I know I have to launch another game and quit it with a 0000 score but I often forget to do it. 😁 Edited February 1 by Dicentim
DnaDisturber Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 (edited) Hi @Dicentim There must be a way to get it the popups on the playfield....what was the problem with it? Didn't it center or was it sideways? Please let me know and see if we can get it to work properly Good to see you got it running when you start pinup instead of every game, now you have all the features 👍 As for the feature requests: The send button works perfectly.....it does a vpinmame reset (f3) and that saves the nv file for that game and the score gets sent It's the next game that you want to play...vpinmame and the table are sometimes not "in sync" anymore as vpinmame got a reset With me it sometimes results in pinball missing messages in vpinmame, so i still have to exit the table and start it again That is not something i can fix You can of course try it out and see if it works for you.....scores will be sent so no harm in trying And as for the cancel button....you already have one (just label the start button to cancel) If i would create a cancel button it would work the same....you have to push one button (cancel) and then exit the game (same you would do to get a 0 score when you use the start button) If you forget to push the cancel button and exit without it , it would also be the same as not use the start button. On the pinemhi server side it's not a problem to send "bad" scores....you can send as many scores you want , and only the top 10 are displayed on your cab so the "bad"scores will disappear eventually from your view If you use it a bit longer you will find that you don't forget to push the start button when you don't want the score to be submitted.....it just takes some time to get used to it Edited February 1 by DnaDisturber

I tried "window" and "fullscreen" modes in VPX videos settings but the playfield always remains over the top ! Must be a priority issue. But once again it's not a big deal as I'm ok to watch the popup on the Backglass. As you can see I mapped the "s" key to send score but it doesn't do anything. The advantage of the "s" key is that's the same on my Azerty keyboards than on a Qwerty one. Here are my keys settings on Pinup and VPX, no other "s" key is mapped. Concerning the "I don't want to send my score I just want to rage quit" 😁part, I'm sorry but I don't understand : I play a game, I want to switch to another table, so I have to quit the current table to enter the new one. I quit the VPXemulator to go back to Pinup home menu and the "e" button is activated and so my crappy score is sent 😁 Is "make a pause without send score key" possible please (ideally with a voice to warn like 5 minutes mode) ? Thanks again DNA !! Edited February 1 by Dicentim
DnaDisturber Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 (edited) @Dicentim But if you want to rage quit 😁(hoping that doesn't happen very often) you still have to push the cancel button for it to work...not sending a score If you replace cancel button with the start button(in your mind 😜) the effect is the same a score can only be made using a check at the beginning and at the end of a game , this to ensure you did the score in this session...using a cancel button that stays on for longer would interfere with the challenges and normal scores and competition aspect because then you can use an old nvram then send the score whenever you please So that is a no-go unfortunately , and i wouldn't want to get you enraged because you had a great score but forgot that you had the cancel button pressed a few minutes ago and no score is being sent now😆 Low scores are fine , if you play golf you will have to submit low scores.....and maybe also with a challenge (won't tell you which level........ahum 3 ahum) 😅 As for the popup being under the playfield, I'll see if i can reproduce it on my own cab and if I can do something about it Maybe you could help a little bit by telling if you used cabinetview when you wanted it on the playfield (this to pinpoint it a bit more) Thanks in advance Edited February 1 by DnaDisturber
Dicentim Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Of course I was joking about Rage quiting, sometimes I test a table and don't want to play a real game. Excuse me I don't see which cancel button you're talking about. I posted my button configuration for VPX and Pinup , would you please tell me which one it is? And about "send_button" I really don't understand why it doesn't work for me. Can I check what is the issue in the log? Concerning the display on the playfield I used cabinet mode but I also tried without, in vain. Edited February 1 by Dicentim
DnaDisturber Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 @Dicentim There is no cancel button , i was joking that you had to think that the start button is the cancel button 😁 It was lost in translation i guess You can also use the f3 button instead of the sendbutton (in your case the s). Let's see if that works The send-button doesn't work on rom-less games by the way , as there is no vpinmame used I saw your video with the bit of pinemhi by the way.....thanks for mentioning pinemhi 👍 Who knows more people will use it because of the video. To make pinemhi look less windows 3.1 😁 😅 you could try to remove the background or give it another color and give the letters a nice color and of course try a different font (something retro pinball like perhaps ) If you do use a different font though, make sure it is a monospaced one (all the letters and numbers having the some width), otherwise the output isn't displayed nicely below each other Thanks for telling me about the display , now i know that it happens with and without cabinetview on (staying under the playfield) Hopefully i can find out how this happens and fix it Keep those scores coming 🍺
