A VPX Version of Derby Day. Big thanks to Halen for suggesting it and creating the Backglass. Thanks to pbecker1946 for the VP9 version and the notes he included with it (including permission to use resources from it).
There are some fantastic VPX recreations of tables from the 1950's and 1960's and I probably grabbed bits from most of them. The Ace High table from jpsalas and Halen was especially useful.
This machine is old enough that it doesn't have a "Game Over" backglass light or a match function. When you are out of balls, that's the end. The real machine doesn't even have scoring reels - it uses lights.
Halen made a super nice B2S that does that nicely. I'm too lazy to try to do that on the desktop background, so I just stuck a scoring reel on there for people that don't use a B2S.
If you want a more realistic experience, I recommend using the F12 key to bring up the options menu.
Set "Manual Ball Lift (use magnasave key)" to YES to be like the real table and set "Show Score/Credits only on B2S" to YES.
The goal of the game is to advance "horses" around the track by hitting stuff. The only way to get a horse started on the track is to hit the circle standup targets. Getting the 4 horses lined up or getting any horse to the win/place/show area can earn free games. Even though it was created a long time ago, it's still fun today.
There are probably some bugs in this early release, so let me know and I'll try to get them fixed.
