Time to infiltrate Crazy Bob's at the Junk Yard and build the Jalopy!

This mod includes the latest VPW enhancements to modernize the older Junk Yard version for physics, sound and playability.

Enhancements:
* nFozzy physics
* Dynamic Ball Shadows
* Fleep sounds / rolling / ramp
* Flupper Domes
* LUT selector
* New playfield with better image quality
* Lots of small tweaks to improve game play or aesthetics.
* More detailed change log notes are in the script headers.

Also, a huge improvement to the game play experience is dtatane's amazing alt color rendering of the Junk Yard DMD located at https://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/6943-junk-yard-64-colors

Quick History:
The only VPX version of Junk Yard was version 1.3 (last updated 10/12/16) with mfuegemann as the main author and help from Fuzzel, Dark and Hauntfreaks. There was also a SG1bsoN mod which was mostly lighting updates to an interesting color scheme.

I gave v1.3 a quick flip and immediately realized it needed an update on the physics front. I would later realize it needed other updates as I learned more about the VPW example table packages, etc. The physics obviously jump out at you the fastest if they are using the older VPX defaults.

So, back about 6 months ago, I reached out to apophis about trying to learn how to upgrade the physics and he helped me get started with the bord YouTube tutorials / documents, etc. Fast forward here and it has been a learning journey for me to understand how VPX works, how to code the upgrade packages from the Example table, etc.

I really just wanted to see this table get better physics, aesthetics and gameplay as a general goal for the project with the intention of learning VPX along the way on something that needed a little TLC.

Commendations:
Thanks to all of the team at Williams listed on the IPDB link.

Thanks to the original VPX authors: mfuegemann, Fuzzel, Dark and Hauntfreaks

Thanks to apophis, bord, Wylte and Sixtoe for coding assistance and thanks to PinStratsDan, Smaug, FriscoPinball and the VPW team for testing.

I've played this table a lot on FX3 (Classic Arcade) before my VPX days. It was tough-playing there, not because the game is ridiculously hard, but rather because of the fast space-ball physics used. TastyWasps did a brilliant job to make this table play challenging in the right kind of way, and where you know if you lose a ball, that it is (mostly) your fault 😉 . The table also looks great and now I enjoy my games on it.

I got in a fight with the wife last night, and got stuck in the DogHouse. Fortunately, @TastyWasps gave me a few pieces of toast to put Spike out for a bit. I found out last night that It's not hard to play in the yard. This re-creation is an absolute MUST have. From one of the top VPX players, comes the table you will love to hate, or hate to love, and it is extremely faithful to the real thing. Barry Oursler might even be tricked, or at the very least impressed.

Installation: Straight forward, no fluff. Load and play! Since when have you seen a table that includes a play guide and strategies??!?!

Play: I had spent some time playing this on FX3 and VPX recently, and when asked to help test, I jumped at the chance. This is a wonderful table for beginners and experts alike. Shot flow is strong, and there is a lot of rebound action to plan fancy shots with. The toys are awesome, including a toilet, the doghouse, an incredibly satisfying crane to smash, and more. This has been tastefully re-created in VPX like never before. The shots are challenging, and not repeatable if you don't get it right, unlike other versions I have played. The crane has the proper feel when you smack it, and ramping up into the toilet is a simple joy.

Graphics: The new playfield and shadow work are top notch, this is a huge improvement! Make sure you grab the 64 color DMD as suggested to really take this table to the next level.

Conclusion: I believe this is Tasty's first released effort, and I am more than impressed. Someone had to pick me up off the floor with jealousy when I heard he had made a table, but after seeing this, I can only imagine what we may see in the future from this incredible talent. As always, the VPW boys seem to be at it again assisting with coding, testing, and more. It is wonderful to see these collaborations, new authors, and inspired work. You cannot go wrong downloading this, and please leave a like if you enjoy it!

Flipers seem to be too weak. Hard to shot (from ball rests on fliper position) big ramps a little easier WC ramp. Most often ball reach 3/4 table distance. I tryied on VPX and latest beta. Also I checked gameplay on real pinball to compare. GFX is great, red flashers a little to dim.

Thanks for a greeeeeat table!!!!

One thing - I also have problem with the wrecking ball always moving and making rattling sounds, even when the table is in attract mode.

Can anyone help me with this, please? Thanks!!

Response from the author:

Thanks for the kind words.

Usually the Wrecking Ball is moving if something is moving the table or if you are playing in VR and the headset is not steady.

Amazing job ! Improvements are incredible ! Just one thing : how do you lower the sound of the wreckingball chain ? It's moving all the time, and makes a loudy noise as an unfriendly background sound // thanks a lot for this table !

Nearly every game I see is new for me and I'm slowly learning to understand influences from great table designers and how these get carried through to new creations. I'm looking at this table through fresh eyes so so a big thanks for the tutorial. That is really handy. Its a fun table for sure and plays smooth as. Physics are just in the sweet spot. I can hear some Red and Ted sounds, The Creature from the black lagoon Move your car, the Mamushka target hit that carries through to Adams family.What is it with Williams and the Mid Nineties. So many great tables. This is a wonderful creation brought to us by someone who knows their way around a pinball game.🙂Super effort Tastey Wasps

Hi guys

Great table

I don´t know what happen, but even in 1.62 or 1.7 version there is a sound like a lot of balls falling when playing. Did anyone have this kind of issue..

Thanks

Wonderful table!  Plays very well.  Challenging for me, but my skill level is low.  Everything about the table just works.  It's great fun.  Thank you everyone involved in making this table a reality for us virtual players!
