Slamt1Lt Dropbox - Anyone Received The New Link

Question

Posted

Been almost a month since he posted that people would be getting the updated DB link (for VIP supporters - of which I donated and got the last DB link about a week before he removed it and put the new stuff in a different folder).  Anyone received their link yet or heard from him in a while?  Slam, if you are around, pm maybe?  Thanks.

What is a difference between a VIP table and a regular?

Slams tables are heavily modded. It's a personal thing if you'll like them or not. He is really good with the lighting effects that really make a table pop and does a great job making them play well with the new physics. A BIG negative for me is he changes the sounds of the games such as adding voices and music to EM's etc. He also adds lots of videos which look cool but drag down performance on my PC at least. So my normal routine with his tables was to move the videos off screen and or completely wipe out all the movie lines from the script. Then I revert the sounds back to stock.

In respect to Tron the GP authors did an amazing job and it already has spectacular lighting effects and plays awesome on the latest physics. ROM as of late has been updating all his tables for 2.5 which is awesome.

I laught ,maybe if mr SlamTilt respect the people, it will not have all that!

Why not spend the links to everyone, while he would have done the same thing.

I was never given and never give to him.

And so now he took advantage of those who gave, so that if you manage well you will find links without given him, plus there is not much work done by himself in these links.

I understand that people give links to everyone because if I had given, and he did not answer me, I will do the same.

When I get the new link, I give to everyone!

That's so true. He has a tendency to "re-work" other people's tables by adding lots of bells and whistles. It's entirely a matter of taste. He has some tables (like Star Wars Empire addition and Aliens) where (in my opinion) he added tremendously to the theme and the fun factor of the games. In other mods (like War of the Worlds) he added some really annoying music and changed the rules to the point where the game is a PITA to play and is painful to listen to. The original was much better (IMHO).

I think some of his originals are brilliant. Superman is one that should be made into a real table. The art is awesome and the holographic clips are stunning to look at.

Hello Sven, the betas of this tables are also playable well. Use Bam for wonderful Flash Effects. If you have Questions about, you can contact me. Some dmd animations are missing, but very good playable.

Why should you have to donate to get access to his tables, that's lame.

A donation is supposed to be a good jesture not required, but the man does do beautiful work that I can't deny

same here no info, i was vip for over 3 month, then he close his dropbox, he dosnt answer mail, tweets etc..

People dont support this guy.

He's probably just burnt out and taking a break, but you guys should know better than to donate with any future expectation. This is all non-commercial volunteer work. Maybe Slam is making the jump to VP and keeping it on the DL until he has a bunch of tables converted. At any rate, he's under no obligations to anyone.

I don't agree with that. Firstly the donation was specifically for access to his VIP tables. These are all currently unavailable so it's not about future access it's about access to what was already available. Secondly, he's still got his donation address listed and new people are donating unawares that he's currently not replying to anyone. So you can't even claim people should have got them while they had the chance.

Slam isn't taking a break as he tweets new videos of his WIP tables quite often. The hope is that he's going to release them and the VIP link at the same time but his lack (none) of communication on the issue isn't fair to those who donated after the VIP link was pulled.

I understand this coincided with him falling out with members of the FP community over his use of other people's assets and tables and then taking donations or that work but I'm not sure why he's ignoring everyone one else via twitter, email and forums.

Slams always seemed nice and open to discussions and feedback before when I've talked to him. I just hope he'll get back to those who've donated and stood by him as those don't deserve to be ignored by him.

Great post, Pod.  I've personally communicated with Slam in the past and he's a great guy.  Very attentive to issues with his tables that may not reflect the real life counterparts as well.  I don't understand what's going on lately but I do know he was having some personal matters he was dealing with.

I'm also one to hope he comes back better than ever for those that have supported him as well as those who appreciate his work regardless of those in other communities he may no longer get along with.  He's definitely an asset to the pinball revival as it stands and all this infighting doesn't help its cause.  Could be very well possible that maybe Slam got a position doing actual work with actual machines but I think he would announce that.   Most of the people making tables deserve a shot at the real thing, for sure.

I too haven't heard from him since he changed the location. Anyone?

The videos on yt of his new projects look very cool.
