Been almost a month since he posted that people would be getting the updated DB link (for VIP supporters - of which I donated and got the last DB link about a week before he removed it and put the new stuff in a different folder).  Anyone received their link yet or heard from him in a while?  Slam, if you are around, pm maybe?  Thanks.

I especially love Slam T1lts nightmare on Elm Street table and the the finishing touches he brought to 3 angels and the like.

 

It's a shame that money had to be brought into this equation, although I have not donated to Slam and I won't. 

 

I understand it from a certain point of view, but everyone else on VP creators their tables for free access, so it just doesn't fit with the community.

 

Misery 2.0 game out for Stalker on modbb the other day, and that took years to make and it's free, maybe a little of topic, but that's my point, it's free because that's the etiquette of the modding community and the etiquette of the community of Virtual pinball.

 

My thoughts anyway... but I love Slam's tables, an amazing creator.

Just out of curiousity how much was he asking for? 5$? 25$? I'm not considering this, but I was curious as to how lucrative it was.

He never asked for a specific number, to my knowledge. Just whatever you wanted to donate. I could be wrong, however.

It's too bad he disappeared.  He did amazing work.

 

I'm not a fan of charging for access, but I also didn't put a ton of work into them either.  A better way to go would have been to release them all for free, but ask for donations.  That way nobody gets butt hurt if he simply drops off the grid like he has.

Thanks Dstruct. I'd have to agree with Deegor. There's a shitload of time that goes into these, that's worth something. But at the same time, I think Dazz has it right. If you appreciate and want to support/say thank you to that person(s), have at it. Optional. I have a donate button at my site, and it has been used.   But no one should have to pay to get these tables. Unless you're talking site costs/memberships, etc. But that's a non-issue for me.

As with many I donated as I thought it was worth it for the VIP access, more so all the tables were in one easy to download place if I'm honest, but alas less than a month after donating the DB account was closed.

I didn't expect it to last forever but less than a month for something you actually pay to access (VIP) is a little harsh.

 

A simple statement on his Twitter account saying "hey guys bit busy please bear with me etc" would have been enough for me.. as it is.... Not sure what to think.

 

Still I managed to get a couple of tables before it went offline.. From now on I will stick to the free tables..

The whole reason I posted was to see whether it was just me or if the db link was not getting sent out. I donated specifically for the VIP releases. Not to slam anyone else who does good work, etc. he did tweet shortly after removing the folder that he would get to sending the links immediately. I've sent a couple of emails and tried to space them out but have gotten no response. He's obviously working on things but I mostly don't understand tweeting that he would get out links but not doing it. That's all. Hopefully he'll send a link sometime as it is nice to his mods and new stuff in one place.

I donated £20 but I think the normal amount was £5.

Call me a mug if you like but hey I thought it was worth it, and probably just the one or two tables I did get (and the non VIP ones) were worth it to me anyway.

 

Still won't bother again... Learnt my lesson now

Ah, just got off the phone with my best friend..... ah, what's his name. He says to send all donations to rascal and that you will be informed of the new download link shortly via red marker on the bathroom stalls at your local shopping centers.

Oh can I say vpforums.org here? Of course I can, it's a free community silly. I slept pretty good last night, in case anybody is concerned. But I don't have lumpy money in my mattress problems, I still sleep on a 70's style waterbed. Peace and love.

His work is outstanding and unique, that has to be said. But donating to a person who has proven to be dubious in the past ? mkay...

Donating should be just what it means.... A gift or contribution. If you guys thought you bought something, then you got what you paid for.  Nothing.

Should it be considered just so when then donee specifically states that something will be shared? When I pledge to NPR I don't expect something specific UNLESS they tell me ill get something (eg. A mug). If they say they'll send a mug, they should send a mug.

Eins noch zu Russels Tische, wie ich finde es gibt Zahlreiche Tische dir viel Spaß machen und sie sind echt Super gemacht, wie ich finde und da brauchen wir auch kein Russel der wie ich schon geschrieben habe von anderen Tischen zum Beispiel vom Twister Pinball denn LKW klaut. und Setzt es bei seinen Tischen ein. Komme ich jetzt mal zu unseren Forum des Gopinball, ich möchte mich bei euch an die Programmierer ein Großes Dankeschön sagen, und ich meine alle Programmierer francisco666, rom, Martin, und alle anderen mein Dank geht an euch Jungs, ihr macht das Super und mir gefallen die Tische dir ihr macht sehr gut.   auch wenn es länger dauert mit einen Tisch so weiß ich das ihr diesen auf Bugs Untersucht. 

 

Das war eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit für euch, leider weiß ich nicht so recht wo ich das bei Gopinball hinschreiben kann. Und ich hab mir gedacht das ich das einfach hier mal in Deutsch schreiben darf. Ihr seit für mich echt die Größten Programmierer die ich kennenlernen durfte, weiter so freu mich schon wenn Austin Powers da ist  . Recht herzlichen dank das ich das mal hier schreiben durfte auf Deutsch.

This is not entirely true. He did share the new link to some before he started working on his latest updates but I'm starting to understand his actions by what some have been doing in various forums and on youtube.
