About This File

This is an altsound conversion of the amazing pinsound package by Julian42 featuring The Who's Tommy OST, and enhanced sounds. Does not required pinsound studio to play

Instructions: unzip tomy_400 folder with files into vPinMAME/altsound folder (create the folder if you haven't already), start table, hit F1, and change alt sound mode to 1. Exit table and restart.

Tip from AnTiBoDy: for the VPWorkshop version, rename the altsound directory from tomy_400 to tomy_500

Changes from original pinsound package: adjusted timing of Christmas to match start of lightshow, adjusted start of ball 3 song

Issues: End of game song plays to completion over any new game.

Youtube search tommy pinsound to see if you like it, but you're going to want this.

Released

What's new with 1.1?  With the release of the Vpin Workshop Tommy table,  this Altsound is getting extra attention. A commentor rightly noticed the background music on Captian Walker video mode is pretty bad. It's been replaced by a snippet of "Captain Walker/It's a Boy" from the original motion picture soundtrack.  Should be a better experience.

Thank you so much, amazing upgrade!  It still has the original feel to it, but the music is so much better quality.

MUST have for the amazing Tommy table. Thank you!

The Data East atmosphere is still there with the original sounds but mixed with original music makes it perfect.

Very, very nice work on this.  The thing I never liked about Data East games of this era was the sound, especially compared to what Williams was doing.  This feels like a new game.  I wish Lyman Sheats were alive to see something like this on a game he worked on, he'd probably shit his pants.

This game is brought to life with this alt sound mod. I used to cringe with original ROM but to hear the Who in full flight mixed with the table sounds is just a joy. It is well balanced audio production. Magnificent! Thankyou you have aced it skeebomax.
