VPX JUKEBOX WITH DYNAMIC SONG CARDS

A nostalgic recreation of a late-1960s Seeburg jukebox experience, complete with authentic loading delays, mechanical sounds, and period-appropriate music selection.

Requirement:

To try out this virtual jukebox, you'll need to download the music here:  MEGA Music Link

@MachWon took the time to put together a slew of alternative music options which can be downloaded here: Mega Alternative Music Folder

Initially, this was built for my 3-screen cabinet with a full DMD. I've also included a 2-screen version.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This jukebox is a labor of love - a digital recreation of a real Seeburg Discotheque PFEA1U from the late 1960s. It captures not just the music, but the entire *experience*: the anticipation as you insert your coin, the mechanical whirring of the loading sequence, and that satisfying moment when your selection finally begins to play.

**Note on Authenticity**: While the overall experience faithfully recreates the PFEA1U operation, the internal mechanism videos shown on the DMD are from a different jukebox model - they were selected for visual appeal and functionality rather than strict historical accuracy to the PFEA1U's specific internal workings. However, all sound effects are authentic recordings from the original PFEA1U unit, capturing the true mechanical sounds of coin drops, loading sequences, and operational mechanisms. This isn't meant to compete with modern jukebox applications - it's designed to transport you back to a simpler time when choosing a song was a deliberate, almost ceremonial act. The intentional delays, the clunky charm, and the authentic sounds are all part of recreating those nostalgic moments from an era when jukeboxes were the heart of social gathering places.

TLDR: This is basically an elaborate pup-pack that plays music like an antique would do it.

- Music File & Metadata Fixes
  • All MP3 files (including those with unusual characters or metadata) are now sanitized correctly
  • Ensures every track loads and plays without issue

- Improved Exit / Popper Integration

You can also download additional tracks courtesy of @MachWon took the time to put together a slew of alternative music options.

These can be downloaded here: Alternate Music Tracks

@sportsfan949 also wrote up some cool .bat files that switch the music files around which are included in the pup. Just note, you will need to re-run the Jukebox_Song_Processor each time to update the music for everything to work as intended.

Thank you @ejvfx! This is very creative and a great reproduction of a Seeburg jukebox. The song cards on the back glass is a great touch! Thank you @MachWon for the alternative music!

This is great! Thank you. Is there a way to select songs  like say b 1 or just random? Thanks again

Response from the author:

It’s random shuffle or it can play in order from A1-K8. I haven’t figured out an elegant way to enter selections with just flipper buttons but it wouldn’t be hard to build a selector into the table.

Great idea! I also find that the backglass and DMD don't unload after I exit, requiring a reset of the popper. Is there a way to fix this?

Response from the author:

This bug is finally addressed in the latest version.

What a great idea to use a pinball cabinet for this purpose. It works great!

When leaving the jukebox from Pinup popper, the backglass and fulldmd do not close automatically. But that is a minor thing for me.

My compliments!!!  (And a A-H 1-10 selection logic as suggested in this thread would be awesome!!!)

😘

First i got an error due to im using drive K:\vpinball so i had to change all to drive K.

Not the hard part though...... then i got an erorr to line 217 and 462
Duplicate Definition (Sub clear songcard)

Response from the author:

You're running into a few known issues. I'm hoping to have an update for everyone soon. Just chasing down a few bugs. A low of users have flagged problems when their system is using non-standard path mapping. I just need to do a better job of managing those edge cases.

Still a great build and a nice break to pinball. Even better with the updates Like having it run in the background. Thank you
