Content Provider Itchigo Posted August 12, 2015 Content Provider Share Posted August 12, 2015 I recently got a new SlikStik Spinner for my cab. I'm not sure how to get it setup, or if it's working. It's ps/2 to usb plugged into the front usb ports on my cab. In Devices and Printers it's seen as a Generic Keyboard. If I try Arkanoid in Mame, I try to reassign input to the spinner (like changing a key) and nothing happens. No input is selected. These are my settings. Do I have this correct? stefanaustria
Can you get a Driver for that ?Can you check in Windows: Control Panel / Mouse ... to change/add Devices ?Win 7 / Vista ?Can you play Arkanoid with Mouse ? You should get under "Dial Analog" anything with "Mouse X" ... i think.-> TAB / Input (This Game) ... Dial Analog [Enter][ESC] ... again [Enter] turn left/right [ESC] I dont know, if you really need "Multiple ..." At MAME / Options, there is in "Default Input Layout" an Option for "SlikStick", did you try that ?( Your Screen #1 ) I am on MAME sience 199?, but never had a Spinner But, take a look here:http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-Arcade-Spinners-From-Old-Ball-Mice

Arkanoid is my test table. No it doesn't work there. I have multiple mice checked because my trackball is seen as a mouse also. The trackball works. The Option is for the SlikStik control panel as a whole. When selected I'm missing the cfg file, but I found one and looked at it. It just looks like keymapping for the buttons which I already have done and working. I've seen many like that, but this is what I have. http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/arcade_game_parts/95-2657-
Content Provider Rascal Posted August 13, 2015 Content Provider Share Posted August 13, 2015 The specs say it has switchable axis via a jumper on the board (see below). Did you try switching the axis? My guess would be you want X axis. Includes SlikStik’s custom designed optic PCB that utilizes a dual optical pickup interface, support for 3 mouse buttons and switchable (axis) operation via an onboard jumper
Content Provider Itchigo Posted August 13, 2015 Author Content Provider Share Posted August 13, 2015 I'd love to switch the axis or check it. But I can't see where to. Devices and printers shows it as a keyboard. But my understanding of it is it's an X axis mouse.
Content Provider Itchigo Posted August 13, 2015 Author Content Provider Share Posted August 13, 2015 I think I see the jumper on the board. But I don't see anything in Mame or windows to tell me if I'm right or wrong. Edit: after talking to Happ the problem seems to be the PS/2. I was told I could just splice a USB cord where the PS/2 is connected on the board.
stefanaustria
You point me to an Idea ... i could break up a Light-Mouse and use the Sensor for a normal Wheel and scan the Axis, to get a "Spinner",based on this Informations here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-Arcade-Spinners-From-Old-Ball-Mice You are right: Arkanoid, and: Thunder & Lightning, Puzzle Bobble, maybe also Pole Position, Hang On, Hot Rod ... would be great with a Spinner And this is the missing one at my Arcade Cab

Content Provider Itchigo Posted August 16, 2015 Author Content Provider Share Posted August 16, 2015 Thanks and nice work! I thought about doing this, but I didn't want the hassle. I didn't think it would be sturdy enough.
