You may wanna start buying Lotto tickets...

If I win, I'll be more than happy to have a second cab with Hyperpin2 :P .

well i don't really agree on your approach icp, i saw you on other threads that you didn't want to move forward for other parts than vp emulation, you wanef to stay on ledcontrol.vbs instead of dof, same for uvp instead of b2s.server, as well as winxp instead of win7, i don't know if you changed it eventually.

when it works it works, fine but when something new works better, in terms of performance and playability, it is totally worthy :)

pbx is constantly evolving, it is more adding functionalities, there are no real bugs afaik, hp stopped evolving long time ago and compared to pbx it is outdated, sorry to say this but i used both, and hp didn't evolve since i switched to pbx.

where is hp 2.0??

lol I've used b2s.server since day one and the only reason I didn't originally want to use DOF was b/c I didn't feel like updating all my tables. You did talk me into it though and I've since updated all my tables to DOF so thank you for the push its appreciated as DOF is much nicer.. :-) As for winXP going to windows 7 I'd love to upgrade but as I've said I don't have the extra $$$$ to shell out to buy a licensed copy of win7.

I know I know, but who uses a licensed copy of Windows on his private computer? [emoji12]

They are giving the new one away for free... a bit desperate, but money is made elsewhere today.

They have to because no one needs it. I could go out and buy a new car, but why? My old one does the job, and there's no reason to spend the money. If I were to see how great the new one was, maybe it would make me want to get one. Just an example.

I've used hyperpin since day one I've never really had any problems with it.. If it's not broke don't fix it, is my motto.. :-)

One thing that is weird is on 1st launch the wheel spins backwards for some reason. Once I hit a flipper button it stops and doesn't happen again.. I could never figure out why so I stopped trying to fix it.. lol other than that it's been great for me..

Strange. Mine started doing the exact same thing.

Upon first boot up the wheel just takes off spinning like it is in attract mode. But it will not stop until I hit a flipper button.

I have just gotten so used to hitting flipper button to stop it, that I don't even think about it anymore. lol.

I use VPMan..It's very easy to use, I just drag the VPMan window to my backbox at startup..Hyperpin is such a pain, runs to slow on my rig.

I love pinballx and wish I could use it. Well I guess I could but the wheel does not spin smooth at all, very jumpy and laggy when choosing tables. It is very unappealing. Im kind like things to look good so... im stuck using hyperpin, It runs smooth on my minicab so that's what I use. Really wish I could get PBX to run smooth and I would switch in an instant.

EDIT - Got it working. Needed to install the codecs from the main site.  Doh ..

I went with HyperPin since I had some experience with HyperSpin... I figured it would be similar. It's working great for me. I haven't had any issues with it.

Pinballx. Pbxrecorder.exe is a really nice companion tool. I did exceed 360+ tables in single XML file and use Hyperpin Manager to add tables additional tables.

UPDATE 6/3/2016: since upgrading to Pinballx v2.19, I can again use Game Manager for editing XML files with 500+ tables.

I've been quite happy with HyperPin. Does the job for me.

I still use HyperPin too, although I wouldn't recommend it for anyone starting fresh.   PBX is far superior overall, I just haven't had time or motivation to get everything switched over since I have HyperPin working to my liking already.      Sounds like Tom is putting effort into simplifying media and table additions, and that will likely motivate me to switch.

I will say there's something that just "feels right" about the Hyperpin UI that's hard to quantify.

i use hyperpin, i like the graphics, animations, etc,  it has a certain nice simply look to it that i really enjoy. i have played with pinballx too, and its also nice, i just think hyperpin is the ogirnal frontend.

I think most people don't realize PBX can use XMLs created for HyperPin so you can essentially have both hooked up. On Windows 10 PBX starts up and functions much faster over HP, but I like HP for the nostalgia and look.

PBX supports more media and options but since it's more recent that's understandable.

We really need HyperPin 2.0 and soon. I'll take an alpha build at this point ;)

I play on my desktop , probably because all the vp 8s go out the window with cabinets. So many of them were really really good. :(

Anyway, I use vpman and 7 versions of vp and 1 ver of future pinball

For me that doesn't really work.   PBX can't find over half of my artwork/wheel logos for some reason.  I didn't dig into it far enough to find out why.

The "slow start" of the first load of HyperPin on Windows 8+ is a strange issue.    I ran PerfMon and it spends an inordinate amount of time repeatedly looking at display adapter parameters in the registry.    I just set my cab to hibernate on power off.   It comes right back on super quick.

When I first got started about 3 months ago - I tried to use Hyperpin.... took a long time to get to work lots to configure, then I tried pinballx and it seems more straight forward and easier to manage but less configuration option - just my opinion.

First post...

I didn't really look into Hyperpin, but I attempted PinballX since I used to use GameEx, and was quickly reminded why I used to use GameEx. It's just too damn complicated.

VP-Man is the frontend for me. It reminds me of MAMEUI, which has been my MAME frontend for 10 years now. If only it had better VPX support and any BAM compatibility. I also haven't worked out highscores for VP tables, but that's a story for another thread.

PinballX, tried Hyperpin but had too many issues running it in Win8. If a good stable version comes out for Win10 I would try it simply because I like the ahk scripting and the freedom it brings.
