The tables I really really want is Metallica and Walking Dead. I can find the B2S but no tables. Is it possible to download them somewhere on this site? Ore are there only a couple lucky guys out there that have access to them? if so, the are worth it.  ;)

Yes, there are B2S of unreleased tables... You don't need a table to create a backglass.  Yes, these tables are currently being worked on, but will not be released until they have been marked as Out of Production by Stern.

I'm sure this topic is just beating a dead horse and my views on it have been said in the past....

but the way I look at it the only people buying "new" pins are Collectors or rich dudes with expendable incomes

hardcore pin people want the real thing, even if they do have a VP machine, they will always choose a real pin over VP

I would estimate that 90% of VP cab owners have zero plans on buying a "new" pin... so no matter when the VP versions of these tables are released, there is very little to no impact on "new" pin sales... no matter if it a Jersey Jack machine, stern or any of the boutique pin builders... in the end if a dude wants a "real" pin they will find a way to buy it, and VP will not interfere in their decision....

I'm not protesting these ethics rules... its just my opinion....

Its an 'agreement' between the VP community and Stern - I want 'Metallica' too but its just a case of sitting tight for a bit longer.

Not sure if 'Walking dead' will be produced on VP for now as doesnt it use the new Stern 'chipsetl. I think it will be a while for the new Stern games to come out on VP until someone does 'the clever stuff',  Reading OLD threads its seems they did not think that the last boardset (used on gmes like Metallica) would ever be VP compatable but they made it work.

Sit tight and be patient.  It is not as if there is not 100s of tables you can play now (I think I have 110 in my cab).

I am sure Mr Stern could put a stop to his tables being 'VP'ed' very easily - so lets play by the rules and wait.  I wouldnt think it would be much longer before Stern end 'Metaliica' production.

I can see your point of view but this is a situation neither of us can do anything about.

I'm in full agreement about waiting for the developers to make these table available when they see fit....

but i don't think I agree that any of the tables built in the past or present could ever be stopped by the manufactures, VP is in the end a completely different animal, some will say "well were using there ROM", again in the end if the ROM didn't exist, the the brainy ones in the community would create the roms or like FP build them in... on the legal end this isnt any different than painting an "image" of a famous person and making copies and handing them out to anyone that wants one... and in that realm you could also sell them on ebay all day long, with no repercussion...

doing this out of respect of the companies that continue to produce pins is understandable... but the worry of legal action would be pointless and would put most out of business fighting a losing battle...being a humble community is fine, but people shouldn't be naive in thinking there any of this is impacting the "real" pinball world , and in my opinion if anything its "helping" to keep alive, and is opening the eyes of a generation that might not have ever played pinball in real life... again in my opinion there are to many pluses VP is doing for the amusement industry, by keeping pinball reinvent for the regular guy... this is one mans opinions.... viva la pinball

Edit: I also agree there are more then enough table out there to satisfy most people, I have 370 in my cab...lol

There is no agreement.  Sites have chosen to stay away from releasing in production tables, because they most likely fear Stern's wrath if they're releasing digital copies at the same time Stern is trying to sell the real thing.

Stern hasn't come after VP sites, not because of some fake 'agreement', but because they don't believe digital pinball affects their sales.  If they did, you can bet these sites would be shut down quickly.

Are you sure - I lknow a lot of this is not true on this link below (seeing as we have SAM in Visual Pinball now) - but I thought the sentiments with Stern 'still stood'

I still dont think they would have a leg to stand on... selling someone's intellectual property and using it, is something completely different...

I know we're off topic, but I wanted to chime in. I asked Gary 2 years ago at the expo, and he said nothing in production. The previous year, he said that VP would never equal the real thing. My guess as to why no one's getting shut down is that VP is freeware, and no one is profiting from VP tables. People are profiting from cabs and memberships, not tables.

If a new table was released, say Metallica, I would say that he wouldn't care, unless people started selling the VP table. Then watch out. Dazz and Paul are entitled to have whatever rules they like as to in/out of production, etc. It's their site(s), and they make the rules, and I'm not saying to release it by this. I did see the thread where people talked about the "agreement". It's at Pinball Nirvana, and I didn't think it was real until I found it. Still, I think it was more of a handshake agreement done out of respect, than a binding contract. This was done in the VPF.com days (before my time), but I could ask the former owner of VPF what the story was if I wanted to.

I'd be more worried about Metallica freaking out about a copy of their game than Stern...  look at the whole napster disaster that they started back in the day...
