Sounds great: One Question

 How can I set these things with player only?

There is currently no PuP-DMDs/Packs using v2.0 PinUP Player by default.  Only PinUP Popper is using v2.0.  Even if you have v2.0 installed currently,  you're still using v1.5 player for tables.

Moving forward,  PuP-DMDs/Packs for v2.0 have the driver set in the usePuPDriver.ini in root of PupVideos\tablename.

Quote

#DO NOT REMOVE THIS FILE KEEP IN ROOT OF PuPPACK to Change Default PUP driver.
[PINUP]
Driver=PinUPDisplayX2.exe
;Specify GPU Driver via 0=CPU 1=OPENGL 2=DX11
PUPVideoDriver=2

Most will default to DX11 GPU Driver,  but you will be able to change if needed.

Testing Beta22,  Just reporting some findings in particular for me, Table exits back to popper are not clean compared to previous beta20. Especially with Future pinball  pinevent tables. Getting a momentary black screen and seeing the taskbar  on FP exits whereas on Beta 20 and 16 that did not happen. Launch audio no longer cuts off samples, so this is great. Love the adjustable popper config settings in beta22... as always thank you Nailbuster for this incredible Popper improvement.. thanks all.

Also on Beta22.  If I leave Popper open and it goes into attract mode where it is switching tables automatically, after about 5-10 minutes, media playing on all 3 of my displays will close and show the desktop, but the Popper menu is still visible and I can still navigate the menus.  I was experiencing this issue in an earlier beta build as well (18 I think).

PinupDisplayError.log:

20260328 18:48:12 Access violation at address 0000000000DD5E1D in module 'PinUpDisplayX2.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I'm loving the performance boost though, my loading videos used to stutter under 1.5.2 but they are running very smooth now.🍻

to troubleshoot,  if you set your GPU driver to CPU mode and the player windows still crash during attract, its 99% a certain media file issue.  The problem is finding which one,  I've helped a few and people find things like 0sec files, under 1.0 second mp3 length files and such can cause issues since all media in front-end is 'looping'.  So looping a 2 second video or audio, by the time the cache and threads are all active it ends and starts over.   Check out your POPMEDIA folders and sort by size in folders to see if there are any 'strange' media files.  But first you must try CPU mode to see if its a GPU issue or media issue.

Hi, just to know if there are another Steam Pinball FX3 players, I see the game is now called Pinball FX Classics and my launch script isn't working anymore :

@echo off

cd /d "C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME"

START /min "" "dmdext.exe" mirror --source=pinballfx3 --no-virtual --quit-when-done -d pin2dmd --colorize --use-ini "c:\visual Pinball\Vpinmame\DMDdevice.ini" PinUP\[GAMENAME]
rem START /min "" "PUPDMDControl.exe" FX3 PINUP\[GAMENAME]

START "" "C:\DOFLinx\DOFLinx - Shortcut.lnk"

SET ALTPARAM=-class
if "[ALTMODE]"=="hotseat2" (SET ALTPARAM=-hotseat_2 )
if "[ALTMODE]"=="hotseat3" (SET ALTPARAM=-hotseat_3 )
if "[ALTMODE]"=="hotseat4" (SET ALTPARAM=-hotseat_4 )
START "" "[STARTDIR]Launch\VPXSTARTER.exe" 5 5 20 "Pinball FX3"
START "" "[DIREMU]\steam.exe" -silent -applaunch 442120 %ALTPARAM% -table_[GAMENAME]

I've got a DMD.ext log that appears and my pin2DMD isn't displaying the score anymore + the DOF doesn't work + the game doesn't quit when returning to Popper Home menu with this script :

"[STARTDIR]LAUNCH\PUPCLOSER.EXE" WINTIT "Pinball FX3" 4 1
I think the game's name has changed and maybe I have to make adjustments.

Thanks for your help. Regards.

just some feedback , im now on beta 23 and turned off transitions on GL and all tables run amazingly well , with so far the only exception which is Diner , Popper isnt loading anything different thru games manager , yet threu popper ball is very choppy and running straight from desktop on vpx 10.80 runs smooth - not a big issue , just feedback

have you checked this:  https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=emulator_vpx#i_get_some_ball-stutter_when_launching_tabe_via_popper_but_don_t_see_it_in_vpx_directly

Thanks Terry, i checked everything in the post and all looks good with the script ( i presume script hasnt changed since the one on that wiki) , Popper is not loading a diff version of the vpx that  runs smooth from desktop.

As its only one of two table mysteries its no more than a frustration.

The other mystery that i never solved is why bad cats runs fine from desktop but not from popper ( black screen) , i thought new popper may fix , but it seems its something in that table :(

ill post update if i ever solve

Thats what I use for clean installs

I mean is there an updated one for 2026, including all latest files instead of installing the 2025.1 installer and then use the popper updater or manual installs for nightlies

Thanks

not as far as I'm aware, the internal updater as far as i can tell does not keep your pinball files up to date, if you want to be up to date with all the beta files, then you will need to do this manually

This is probably a dumb question, but should the baller full pinup popper installer be used only if you're using a cabinet or can it also be used if you're on a desktop?  Thanks!

Running Beta 24,  I can no longer scroll though my playlist table wheels by holding down left / right cabinet flippers. I have to repeatedly press the flipper to individually scroll left or right one table at a time (single shot) -  Having to do this suddenly makes it impossible to scroll though a large collection to find anything.  Nothing else changed in my button configuration so I am kindly asking all here for any possible advice, and if this is possibly related to the beta or if its something else suddenly changed in my setup?.. thanks all

For win11 users that have windows updates enabled,  you may see a new  small 'issue'  browsing games in Popper (any version)  that windows doesn't repeat key messages for ctrl/shift/alt in lastest windows update. so you only can go next-game for each shift-press,  instead of holding shift and scrolling really fast (repeat while held).  So if you are using shift for next-prior game and notice this you can try the above for win11.  IDK if win10 has same issue.  reboot required after changes.

Windows Key + R, type in "regedit" hit enter.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\Keyboard Response

Modify

AutoRepeatDelay      300
AutoRepeatRate        50
Flags                 59
BounceTime             0
DelayBeforeAcceptance  0

When recording playfield videos using new POPPER 2.0, when pressing record key it announced that it is recording, but when I hit it again to STOP recording, the audio clip (confirming the action) stops immediately and NO new video is recorded and it just displays the last known working recording.

This is the exact same issue that needed to be resolved in previous Popper 1.5 and VLC by forcing the loading of the DX version (and not GL version) of VPX for recordings. I removed the "if statement" override thinking that it wouldn't choke because of no more use of VLC, but it would not work. I had to put the workaround back into the launch script for the VPX emulator as if I was still using VLC? Was I mistaken that Popper 2.0 and ffmpeg would resolve all recordings ubruptly ending using VPX and Future Pinball?

Thank you kindly!

yes,  you're mistaken as recording of VPX/FP or really any game that runs full-screen exclusive in windows is not Front end issue.  Every frontend uses a 3rd party tool to record screens/games,  a couple of years back,  ffmpeg was able to record VPX GL full screen exclusive,  but either a windows/nvidia/vpx update stopped ffmpeg from recording it for many.  Only solution is to run VPX DX (FP no solution),  or use a different recording tool like OBS/NVIDIA shadowplay  (can use v1.4 recording bat files for that).

Thank you for your reply!

So I guess I’ll have to continue to use that DX recording override in my launch script, OK.

I don’t use full screen exclusive on my cabinet however, I use windowed myself.

Does that affect anything?

I’ll have to figure something out for making a few Future Pinball videos I guess.

yeah,  thats a VPX GL 'quirk'.  there is no such thing as 'window-mode' in vpx-gl unless you do the 1-less pixel trick.  so even if you say 'windowed' in vpx setup,  if your window size  is exactly same size as monitor then it will auto-become exclusive.
