NailBuster Posted February 22 Posted February 22 An all new PinUP Player Display driver ready to be rolled out and beta tested in community! So many low-level changes that it deserved the v2.0 build number jump! Here's some of the updates: Full 64-Bit (x64) build to allow PuPDMDS to take advantage of more speed and space for all the UI and graphic goodness! NO MORE VLC video player. V2.0 uses native ffmpeg drivers to get low-level and performance directly without the need of the extra layers and issues VLC interface had. Full OPENGL rendering/hardware accelerated to have full control and features like transitions and shaders to make PuPDMDs and Popper shine! new Sound-engine-interface, new HUD drawing features and plenty of stuff you'll get to see in the future! As usual, this is a beta release and need community testing with all the different hardware and setups/gpus. The update doesn't stop you from easily rolling back the exes to v1.5.2 to get back to older-stable 32bit version. Note: This is the PinUP Player Display Driver, it is used in Popper and v1.5 PuP-Packs and v1.5 PuP-DMDS. it will have no affect on older v1.4 puppacks/pupdmds as those still use the older v1.4 exes when used. Huge shout-out and thanks for all the beta-testers who helped with all the v2.0 testing, Happy Gaming! https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=beta2026
kilazz Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) Has the bug been fixed in this version, where the animated APNG is not transferred when you choose the REPLACE option instead of UPDATE for the updated table? In the version I have — I think it’s 1.5.2 — only the static PNG is being transferred. Edited February 22 by kilazz
DanLShane Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Is it possible to get an account on the site? I would like to test the 2.0 beta.

DanLShane Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Thanks, TM. I received a login challenge from the link on Discord, but the link on VPU took me straight there.

Went back to 1.6 Some v1.5 pupdmd screens./settings/config needs to be slightly 'corrected'. For DD you can set PUP13 to forceback instead of forcePOP. Same with Blizzard of OZ, the fulldmd pup5 needs to be forceback instead of forcePoP. 'PoP' are suppose to be for pop-up displays not for static screens. minor tweaks needed for some of the v1.5 pupdmds.

In my DD (DarkestDungeon_3.05 pup and table) there is no PUP13. Pup14 seems to be the DMD and was set to forcePUP. I tried to set it to forceback and got a black DMD Window. If I set it to foreceback with 1.6 it works, but not with 2.0. Edit: I am on Desktop, which makes it more complicated.. Edited February 22 by Tikimaster
Migs Posted February 22 Posted February 22 For anyone using separate audio outputs for SSF... When I upgrade to 2.0 Beta, my Pinup sounds started outputting from my SSF speakers, even though my main speakers were set as the primary audio device in Windows. I did a bit of digging in the .ini files, and found the following property in PinUpPlayer.ini: [SYSTEM] SoundDeviceIndex=2 Changing the index from 2 to 1 fixed the issue and now PUP sounds are output through the right device (main speakers). If it's not already exposed, it would be great to have a setting for this in Popper Setup.
ejvfx Posted February 23 Posted February 23 So far, I've only encountered two tables that don't work as expected. Both are Orbital Pin Pup Packs. Stranger Things & The Beatles Pups https://orbitalpin.com/downloads/ Not sure what's unique about these but it's interesting that they're both from Orbital.

That change does send the loading audio to the backbox speakers, but then it messes up TerryRed's PinEvent SSF audio.
AquaticPlayToy Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I've noticed that the text under each table in PinUp Popper has gotten very small. Is there any way to correct?
Mr_Arcade Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) My Constructive Feedback on Beta16 1- The pinupdisplayerror.log records the following error: 20260225 10:34:50 Access violation at address 0000000000E79C4A in module 'PinUpDisplayX.exe'. Read of address 00000000000001F9 Is there anything i need to do? Popper starts and runs without errors and pups seem normal so far in operation other than Darkest Dungeon needing to force the older 1.6 pinupdisplay beta in order to get back the text in the PUPs DMD. 2- I noticed the green pixel random artifacting stutters seems to be gone gone when loading big tables with video loading screens .. -WOW.. this is a tremendous improvement if so...I presume it has to do with the removal of VLC? Game changer! Literally speaking!,, 3- During the loading of a table, the Table Launch audio sometimes cuts off before sample sound is completed.... I noticed this because I use some longer Table Launch samples that announce table names 4- as mentioned above, on blizzard of oz table, I also had to set the dmd on the pup to forceback. No issues with other pup packs so far will keep testing and report back if it helps 5- After a day of use, I'm noticing how much faster this seems to be when exiting and launching tables. Will add more feedback as I continue to test. All in all, this beta has worked really well for me so far! Curios to know if anyone else is seeing a pinupdisplayerror.log generated after upgrading to 2.0beta16? Edited February 26 by Mr_Arcade

ejvfx Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I encountered an issue due to this line in my Popper VPX Startup Script: SET FSMODE=EnableTrueFullScreen. All of my playfields were loading black. Changed it to SET FSMODE=DisableTrueFullScreen and that solved most of my black playfields (although not all - so I need to dig a bit deeper for the remaining tables).

I'm encountering issues with what appears to be window order. Some playfields launch all black (but the tables are running) and with the Orbital Pups, the backglass pup content is black (but you can hear the sound). So, it's probably something off with my screen set up. Just need to track it down.

So far, everything else seems to be behaving nicely.

Can you share what you did to solve. in case others run into same issue? thanks. Also the orbital pups showing black screen are known, and fixed in next build. you can grab the build from pinup discord beta channel (vpc discord). Edited February 27 by NailBuster

My black playfield thing was unrealated to the beta. As always happens with these things, while testing the beta I also dug into configuring my cabinet to move from Legacy to Window mode and so some of the tables started showing up "off screen". I just had to move them back - That's why it was only certain tables. Dumb operator error on my part but I got it sorted.
Stuart Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I get black screens. Updated all of the files from an unblocked zip file into a recent Baller install on Win 11. I already had the VPX script as disabletruefullscreen But I am getting black screens on the popper menu. The popper player is giving me issues before I even get to a table. The wheel does not scroll as well. I have to kill the process to exit. Copying back the 2 exe files from the original install restores function. Any idea what to check? None of the 3 screens are showing up. Thanks, Stuart
Dicentim Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Hi, thanks for the update. Unfortunately it doesn't work well for me. Please note vthat I'm using a Pin2DMD + 2 screens. The issue is caused by PinUpDisplayX.exe because things go wrong when replacing my older 1.5 file by the new PinupDisplayX.exe :

The issue is caused by PinUpDisplayX.exe because things go wrong when replacing my older 1.5 file by the new PinupDisplayX.exe : dont know if you are same person on discord with this issue. But would help to troubleshoot more. Does it do that with other emulators like fx3, fx, zcarria? Does it do it only with VPX OpenGL or VPX DX? if you disable pin2dmd does it work then? that kind of stuff. The other person that had the issue noticed it only happens with VPX GL and worked fine with all others. Its not common but perhaps could be a pin2dmd conflict to.
Dicentim Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) I also posted my issue on your Facebook group. Here are some details : When copying the PinUPDisplayX.exe and starting PinUpMenu.exe I can notice : - The sound doesn't come from backglass speakers but very loud from SSF - There are 2 DMD displays on the PinUpHome menu : one on the Pin2DMD (it's normal), the other at the place I set up in Pinup Configure displays/Locations (DMD 4:1 slim). Please note [Virtualdmd] is on false in dmddevice.ini - a PinUPDisplayError.log appeared : 20260302 07:09:42 Access violation at address 0000000001069C4A in module 'PinUpDisplayX.exe'. Read of address 00000000000001F9 I tried to set PinuPDisplayX as administrator, in vain. Then when launching a table and returning to Pinup Home menu, the issue of double DMD disappears and the sound come back to backglass speakers normally. But the display of the playfield video in the home menu doesn't come back until I press left or right to change table. There's also a delay of about 2 seconds before displaying backglass video. That's with the last version of beta Vpinmame : https://github.com/vpinball/pinmame/actions/runs/22480833403 and latest version of VPX GL : https://github.com/vpinball/vpinball/actions/runs/21918499441 I can reproduce the bug when returning to Pinup Home from Pinball FX, FX3, M and Future Pinball. Thanks for your attention. Edited March 2 by Dicentim
