Pathfinder Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Hi, downloaded the table. Everything works apart from the sound. The flippers make a noise, but none of the Addams Family audio. Any ideas?

Pathfinder Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Thanks for getting back to me. The game makes a sound, but only of the flippers and the ball bouncing around the table. Tried what you said, but just increases the sound of the "non-Addams Family" audio.

It could be you don't have good roms. Since Vpinmame uses the split rom method you need the parent rom, taf_l5, as well as the newer taf_l7. The sound chips reside in the L5 parent rom.
Pathfinder Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I've put all the Addams Family roms known to man in the roms folder, but still no joy.
Pathfinder Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I replaced the taf_l5 rom file with the one from this website and it sorted it out. Many thanks for your help.
Content Provider CarnyPriest Posted July 28, 2024 Content Provider Posted July 28, 2024 taf_l5 is actually newer (more recent) than taf_l7. You can't always go by the version number especially where there was a lot of code floating around for a very popular game. taf_h4 is the set that is recommended by players for home use (has display fixes, larger score font, ball buy-in, more settings in the in-game menu, etc.) Don't forget that the gold edition roms should work perfectly well with the standard table. Try tafg_lx3. https://www.ipdb.org/files/20/Bally_1992_The_Addams_Family_Game_ROM_History.txt
gonzonia Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I've tried all taf_l7, taf_l5, and tafg_lx3. I still only have the table sounds and no voices or music.
Content Provider CarnyPriest Posted November 8, 2024 Content Provider Posted November 8, 2024 You need this set and this set Copy both files to VPinMAME/roms folder F1 Game Settings - Make sure Use Sound is checked Alt. Sound Mode value is 0 In game menu hit the END key to open the coin door, hit 8 and 9 keys to raise or lower volume, END again to close the door
redspade83 Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 I didn't check the table options menu box to reopen the menu upon reloading the table. I'd like to make visual changes like removing Uncle Fester from the chair. How do I reopen the menu?
boogey890 Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 first of all ty all for your work beautiful table that being said im new to the whole virtual pinball thing and i used to play this table on a different software and im left wondering why there isnt the shoot gain option if you lose the ball too fast and also why there isnt a middle pin between the flippers that pops the ball back up when the ball comes perfectly alligned to the center. one other thing that might not have to do with this table pardon my ignorance on the matter is why the nudge thing on the visual pinball so weak and it barely seems to affect the ball ty again

No ball save timer, no cheater mini post. Lawlor despised timed ball saves. There is an unofficial home rom (H4) that has it but is free play only as AFAIK not implemented in pinmame.

Bigbadwolf4life Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 Just curious if anyone has ever had issues with the DMD having issues refreshing its self when it transitions from one animation to another after each ball? The DMD flickers and tries to display the right thing as it calculates the score then when the next ball starts things seem fine. Its the only table that does it.
BookemDanno Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) Just updated to latest version 2.4.41 running VPX 10.8.1 under Batocera 42. Table updates since the last version I was running with (2.3.2) are great. One issue: the on-screen DMD doesn't really look like it's using "standard orange colors." Seems closer to white to me. I tried extracting VBS and setting "UseVPMColoredDMD = 0", but that changed nothing. External DMD (Pixelcade) is using the expected orange/amber colors. Edited March 21 by BookemDanno
user512 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Is there any way to disable the inbuilt DMD and only use the external one? I have it disabled in the settings but it's stuck to the background behind the table.

If not make sure to have all layers checked in properties. Then simply use your mouse to drag the dmd up out of the bounding box and save. If its gray it's locked so right click on it and toggle lock.

laralala Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Does anybody know how to disable the VR stuff? I don't play VR but I'm still seeing this object called "Pincab_Glass_Support" that obstructs the view. My understanding was that nothing VR would be rendered if not in VR mode, so I'm not sure what's going on or if I'm just not understanding how things work. Here's what I see (distorted for clarity):
laralala Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Answering my own question. These for loops on the script: 260 If RenderingMode = 2 or LiveViewVRSim = 1 Then 261 262 VRMode = True 263 264 For Each VR_Obj in VRCab: VR_Obj.visible = 1: Next 265 266 If VRRoomChoice = 1 Then 267 For Each VR_Obj in VRMin: VR_Obj.visible = 1: Next 268 Else 269 For Each VR_Obj in VRMin: VR_Obj.visible = 0: Next 270 End If 271 272 Set LampCallback = GetRef("UpdateVRBGlamps") 273 SetVRBackglass 274 275 Else 276 VRMode = False 277 For Each VR_Obj in VRCab: VR_Obj.visible = 1: Next 278 For Each VR_Obj in VRCab2: VR_Obj.visible = 0: Next 279 For Each VR_Obj in VRMin: VR_Obj.visible = 0: Next 280 For Each VR_Obj in VRBackglass: VR_Obj.visible = 0: Next 281 End If Seem to indicate that the intention was to hide elements programatically, except that the loop in line 277 has a visible = 1 instead of 0. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but for now I'm just changing that to 0 and all seems to work well.
Content Provider wrd1972 Posted April 7 Content Provider Posted April 7 Hey guys. Im getting a very squelchy sound from the music from the ROM. Just sounds plain weird. Anybody else having this? Is there a fix? Thanks.
tonyvox81 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Why is the table frozen when I launch it with visualpinballX64GL? I'd like to be able to play it in anaglyph 3D mode. Can anyone please tell me how?
Mirkin Posted April 23 Posted April 23 When I put it into "Thing Flips Training Mode" it freezes after just one ball. Looks like it is getting stuck at line 3578 but I can't be sure of that. Any ideas? Apart from that it's awesome as expected :-)
