Pirates Life 2.1b -Under a Black Flag-The Revenge of Cecil Hoggleston- Hybrid Table with Mega VR

Pirates Life 2.1 has a random ship selection throughout the game which opens up the game to enjoy more of Andre Pena's wise cracking callouts. There are two download options  for either Epic Metal and Split Enz Versions. 2 & 3 Screen Backglasses arena the backglass and media download as well as a comprehensive ruleset.

If you are playing VR My scripting is set to use JP's flashers for the DMD so change True to False in line 246 of the script (as below)

 UseFlexDMD = False

Also for VR users Pirates Life2.1b- EpicMetal has a bug fix for siderail name crash. There are no changes to the PiratesLife2.1b-SplitEnz Version from version 2.1a. Just keeping game names in alignment.

Pirates Life-The revenge of Cecil Hoggleston is an original game based on the story of an unfortunate lad who grows up to be the most fearsome pirate on the high seas and avenges his foes.  The game can be played by players of all levels with selection of easy or hard modes with 3 or 5 ball options. This version has a mega Pirate ship VR Room, new desktop and cabinet play looks. In the downloads you can find both Epic Metal and SplitEnz versions for Desktop/VR and cabinet modes. If playing desktop or cabinet ensure that the included .ini file is placed in the Tables folder. Also included in the downloads is a 2 & 3 screen backglasses, art pack and rules with lots of gameplay pictures. See below a link below to the youtube video where I explain the the gameplays and give you  game overview. The game has 8 modes to play, 9 ships to sink with plenty of music changes and callouts to keep you entertained. Epic metal music is kindly provided to you by Finish Composer Antii Martikainen and the incredible attract music, Hunting Pirates, is done by Finish metal group Turisas. Please check out their albums on Band Camp and any support you can give them is greatly appreciated. The game was designed around Split Enz music and pleased to provide updated versions with the original sound track. Please support this artist. The animations of the canon, shark, parrot, bobbing drunk skeleton and the dirty creature are all done by JP Salas. Beautiful transparent ramps are done by Tomate and DOF is done by Outhere. Smaug and Gramps chip in with some amusing callouts and Sixtoes was with me for the entire project providing timely advices and neat ideas. Topping off an incredible group of people who have worked on this game includes voice actor Andre Pena who does voices forScurvy Dick, Barba Blanka and the scumbag sailor. You can also checkout Andre's work with his role as Louis in resident Evil 4 zombie bang em up blockbuster game.

Before starting the game ensure you take advantage of the Lut suitable for your monitor. Hold down left magna save and change the Lut with the right magna save.

Pirates Life 1.0.6  has the original soundtrack by Split Enz and will take you on a different more relaxed journey and into the world Cecil Hoggleston via different path.

Spend 13 minutes to watch the video and learn the game. There is more in it than meets the eye.

This is an overview of the game and there is a set of rules and story in the downloads

The game is made with v10.8.0 Beta(Rev 1807(39824d6) 64 bit freezy 2.2.1.0 and flex DMD 1.9.0.0, VPinMame 3.6 & latest Backglass server B2S 2.03

For those who are struggling to get their software going, this is a link to my current, relevant VPinMame & VPinball files. You are welcome to try at your own risk. Please be aware that I am not running everything latest. For some reason I have conflicts with the RC3 and Freezy 2.2.2 and Flex DMD 1.9.1 and haven't had time to investigate this. if anyone can teach please leave your insights in the comments section.

vPinball Files working for RusstyT 2-6-24.zip

Always make sure you do a backup and always copy across the scripts. I don't recommend replacing your current 3.6VPinMame setup.exe and setup64.exe files. Thats is why I have placed them seperate to the other files.

Note: The game is designed to run JPs flashers in Desktop and VR & I do not recommend using the flex dmd option for playing with these methods.

If Playing VR change line 195 of the script to VRRoom=1

Incorporated in the Game are;

Easy and hard modes with 3 ball or 5 ball options

nFozzy Physics

Fleep Sounds

Luts

Virtual Reality

Big fan of Time Lord, so I'm very happy to try this one!

On my first play: What button do I press to select a mode (shark attack, the tavern, etc). The mode did not start :(

PS: the table still is called "Time Lord" in the credits.

You pick which mode you want with the flipper buttons, then activate it using the right magnasave button, or right "ctrl" on a keyboard.

I have been trying to get this table to run and have had no luck. All other tables work fine. I really need help with this please. I keep getting a script error: Runtime error
-------------
Line: 1
Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index

I have re-installed everything, VPX 7.2, updated to VPX 7.3, VPX 10.8, B2s, VPM, DMDExt, all C++ Redistributes, DirectX, etc. No avail.

Artwork looks beautiful and music is awesome, but as soon as I insert credits and select start, table freezes but music keeps playing and I get the script error. What's strange is the line the error is pointing to is commented out. Appreciate any help that can be provided.

Today, I got the ball stuck behind the middle shield on the left ramp.  The ball was heading up the ramp, not strong enough to clear it.  It got to the top of its travel, still on the ramp, and before it could roll back down the ramp, the "shield" popped out and held the ball - sitting on the "Light Fuse" insert.  I could shake the table and move the ball a little, but nothing would get it free.

Certainly not as bad a problem as not being able to run the table at all (sorry, bfriedt), but it is a bit frustrating.

Update to my last post. I have since tried many more tables and have come across the very same issue on several of them. Most tables are fine, about 75% of them so far. Really wish I could figure this out, I wanna play this table badly. So it's either VPX 10.8 (which I'm leaning towards), or it's the table(s). If anyone could shine some light on this, it would be so appreciated. 🙂

Did you update the Scripts folder when you installed 10.8?

Update 2: Good News!! I looked at the download page and seen this table was created in VPX 10.8.0. I've been running release candidate 4. I tried release candidate 1 and all is working great. Gonna try the other tables I had similar script issues with. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hello, I just found this table and it looks awesome! I am having trouble getting it to run properly.   where do I put all the files at?

when you download the files there are several you can (need?) download... and I think I am confusing myself....

1. Backglasses and media .zip

   - this folder has multiple files in in it and I think this is the issue.. I am not sure where to put everything.

backglass - I know where this goes..

However for the following folders I am stuck... not sure where to put them!

Artpackpirateslife - which has many folders in it...

         Rules

         Screens

VR images - not sure this is needed as I am setting up a traditional table and not a VR setup

Wheel - I know what this is and where to put that.

2. Piratedlife1.0.65.zip

       - This has the vpx. and .Directtb2s files

3. Pirates lie2.0.0 music quality under a black flag.

this folder has a .vpx file in it but I am not sure if I need it or not?  would this replace the vpx named pirateslife1.0.6-release?

I am  new to setting these tables up and this is the one that is still giving me issues... but it looks so awesome,  I really want to figure it out!

Piratedlife1.0.65.zip -> Table in version 1.0.6.5
PiratesLife2.0.2MusicQuality-UnderABlackFlag.zip -> updated table with fixes and music changes
PiratesLife2.0.3-MusicQuality-UnderABlackFlag.zip -> newest version with fixes and music changes
Backglasses&Media.zip - includes Backglass and Wheel pics
extract the table of your choice into your table dir, extract the backglass (be sure it has the same name as the table) and put it in the same directory beside your table file.
Use the wheel pic with the frontend you use

Not sure if this will help but I was receiving Runtime Script Error similar to the post above that indicated  - (Index was out of range.  Must be non-negative ... etc.)  I updated FlexDMD to version 1.9.1 and the Runtime Script Error stopped and the game played.

I can play him but i have a strange behavior
When I load the table everything works fine. But as soon as I start a game, the transparent ramp on the right changes to white!?

Does anyone have an idea?

Maybe ill try here, since I cant get a single reply anywhere I ask. Any table that makes use of FlexDMD, will not show said DMD for me, while running on 64bit VPX, or on VPXGL64. FlexDMD is fine on 32bit final, and beta7. My current setup was working perfectly for my needs, but now running into newer tables, like this one, that will only run under 64bit. Theres quite a few tables I want to play but cannot right now. Cyber Race is another.

All software is current. FlexDMD is registered on both 32 and 64 bit. Everything else is current. I have been asking on forums, facebook, and support pages on here. Someone must have an idea on what I can do, or where to look.

I can upload screenshots, logs, ini's....whatever you need. I'm generally self-sufficient, but I need hte help on this one. Please, someone.....

If you alt-tab do you see the flexdmd running in the background?

Meant to add that in my original comment, that no it is not visible with alt+tab. It's honestly very puzzling already

Ok then it's not starting at all.  Are you running desktop, cabinet or VR?
