I am the Phantom of the Opera!

This artistic gem was released in 1990 by Data East with Joe Kaminkow and Ed Cebula on design and Paul Faris' beautiful artwork.

The virtual version of this table has went through a few iterations with the original from 32assassin (2019) and further playfield mesh and subway refinements from DCrosby.

A striking VR Room based on a 19th century French outdoor theater by Cirque had to be included to bring the ambience to the next level on this table.

The baseline was there for a great re-master with all of the current VPW and VPX libraries that make the game play and visuals even better.

The following improvements have been made with a thank you to all the original authors and anyone who helped:

* nFozzy/Roth Physics, Fleep Sounds, VR Room - TastyWasps
* Dynamic Ball Shadows, Multi-Ball Cradle Physics - TastyWasps
* Flupper Domes, LUT Selector, Gameplay Balance - TastyWasps
* Graphics / B2S - Hauntfreaks
* VR Backglass - TastyWasps/Hauntfreaks/leojreimroc
* Playfield Upscale - redbone
* Sound Check - MrGrynch
* Testing - VPW Team

Remember, if you hear an organ playing, it might be the Phantom...

Start up Setup.exe in the VPinMAME folder -> click on the Test button -> select the poto_a32 ROM and click on the Start button -> move your mouse pointer over the DMD window and click on it -> hit the tilde (~) key on your keyboard -> use the up and down keys to select different categories -> use the left and right keys to increase the output level of the sound chips (I believe MSM5205 is voice and the YM2151 channels are music) -> hit the tilde key again and press the Stop button in the VPinMAME Test window -> OK -> Quit.

NB: I've tried all three ROMs (2.9, 3.1 and 3.2) and found that with all of them the music volume level is very low even with YM2151 at 100%.

No idea if this can be helped by using a different approach.

There's an altsound available that helps a lot.

There's a pretty awesome altsound on VPU if you happen to like the music from the musical.

Lol. What? No. It's not based on the musical. It's worse. It's based on a novel. You know... literature! You should have killed it with fire. j/k - it's the same sound roms across all code versions

Unfortunately the music is very low.

Tryed the vpinmame setup.exe and the poto_a32

does not show up. the game works so I have the right rom.

Any ideas?  thanks in advance

Thanks for updating this great classic, one of my favorites Data East tables.
Altsound is so great that my advice is to install it, especially if you have volume issues.
One question I lost several balls because of the left kick back was not fast enough to hit the ball, I played this machine so long ago I can't remember if it's also the case on the real one.

I mentioned this in testing on discord too but it went ignored. Fortunately it is fixable. We just have to have bigger voices than mine making it known I guess :)

Yes I think it's possible to reduce the delay of the kick-back.
On which Discord please, is it possible to beta test ?

Thank you!  I tried the table a few months back and found it lacking in current features, so I'm so glad you've updated it.  Can't wait to play!

What a cool table.   Never gave it much of a try as I didn't like the old physics.   I'm now in love with the table.    Thank you for the updates!!

the tilde key doesn't work for me for some reason. I ended up grabbing the alt-sound package though and that's truly magnificent!

I moved the kickback down in the editor, moved it about 5 hits on the down arrow key, no more lost balls since I did that, I don't think it caused any other issues.
