Content Provider zedrummer Posted November 23, 2023 Content Provider Posted November 23, 2023 (edited) This is the most recurrent question we have now that the number of Serum colorizations is rising: Is it possible to display this Serum colorization on my real pinball? The format itself makes no difference between a real or virtual pinball machine. The format is open source, there is no encryption and the library to decode Serum format is open source and freely available for every OS (32 and 64 bits). So if you have an Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS system that has enough memory to store the uncompressed Serum file (it may be up to 200Mo, perhaps more), has enough horse power to cope with the colorization, Serum colorization works for you. And the point is to have such a system on your real pinball. For now, you have the option of the AlphaDMD by @usul27 (details available here https://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/8443-serum-on-real-pinballs/ and here https://github.com/pinballpower/alpha_dmd), thanks to him. It seems there are still some glitches, but it's great for a first try. @mk47 is working on something more plug and play based on a ZeDMD. It seems that finding a microcontroller with enough memory seems to be the tricky part, but he's on it. So yes, at some point, there will be something fully operational and easy to setup to Serumize your real pinball machine, but you have to wait. Edited November 23, 2023 by zedrummer

Many shield/display-kits say that they will not work on the original pinball machine. M
Content Provider zedrummer Posted October 27, 2024 Author Content Provider Posted October 27, 2024 Hello @mk47 will make it work, he's helped with several other contributor and a ZeDMD working on real pinball will be available! Just be patient.
PastorLUL Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Under serious development now. As we speak I am busy with the schematics and components that will be used to make it work. Then it is up to Markus to get the software to do what it is supposed to. He should pretty good at that
