Hi folks!

I didn't expect a new release so soon, but we have a new contributor, @Joeggernaut, who provided something I wanted to do a long time ago, but never came around: Frame-by-frame colorization support for Pinball FX3 and The Pinball Arcade.

It's documented here. In a nutshell, you'll have to provide the --colorize parameter to enable it, and name the altcolor folder correctly.

It works for both Serum and VNI/PAL. Once I get the plugin system working, PAC should be supported, too. And for those who are wondering, support for Zen's new FX is in the works.

Another very welcome contribution from Joeggernaut was a fix for the Pinball FX3 grabber so the color tint gets properly parsed again.

Finally, there were a few more minor bugfixes, and also Serum was updated to the latest.

Download, as usual, here.

Enjoy!

It seems like there should be a way to add support for Future Pinball because the DMD animations for all tables that are recreations are extracted from ROMs.

Well, maybe it's not like it seems. ;)

We've discussed this, and the problem is that we don't know the bit length of the frames, we don't know how accurate the frame data is, we don't know the ROM names, and we've assumed that nobody is playing any recreations in Future Pinball anyways. Thus, the decision not to care about FP colorizations was quick and painless. 😅

Hello Freezy,

do I understand correctly that future Freezy versions will support PAC again?

Or does that mean only the plugin for making the DMD colorings?

Thx for your Great work!

Best regardes

Yes, the plan is to create a plugin system that works with the PAC module.
