bha191 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I have Metallica mtl_170h rom but when I try to patch the rom to color it does not work. According to the diff file it says to patch mtl_170le. how do I patch the 17oh rom? I was able to patch the shrek rom so I know I can do it, but even that diff file mentioned a different rom name than shr_141.
encryptedmind Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I have the same problem when i try to patch both mtl_170h rom and mtl_180h rom. Even when i change the script to point to either rom too. Still doesnt work. Anyone else having this issue. Bha191 did you change the script to point to the correct rom?
bha191 Posted September 9, 2022 Author Posted September 9, 2022 I am using the Bigus mod and in line 25 and 26 is where you control the rom. Also this is a general question for all stern roms. According to the diff file it wants to patch mtl_170le under cmd prompt so can I just change the cmd to mtl_170h instead or will this not work. Also when I first used the patch on any table Windows 10 gave a popup that this program may not have worked correctly so I clicked run in compatibility mode. I hope this was correct. When I said I patched shrek maybe I did not because I did not patch monopoly and it still shows up in color.

Cliffy Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 @bha191 and @encryptedmind since you are patching stern color roms you must use an -sc version of vpinmame (sc = stern color) As long you patched the roms correctly and put the pin2dmd.pal in the correct altcolor folder and the patched rom in the vpinmame roms folder they should work. You can test this in your vpinmame folder by running setup.exe and clicking test rom. The window will fill with all the roms. If you do NOT see the patched roms , for example mtl_180hc, then you have the wrong version of vpinmame. The latest version from a week ago is here https://github.com/vpinball/pinmame/releases/download/v3.5-122-6452ed3/VPinMAME-sc-3.5-122-6452ed3-win-x86.zip Once you unblock the zip and extract over existing files in your vpinmame folder run setup again and check the paths and defaults and click install. You should now click test and see the color patched roms in the window. Pick one and click start to see the dmd open up and it should be in color. Now run your game and hit F1 and check use external dmd and check colorize dmd

The link on VPS leads to some fileserver and has no readme or instructions lol. You the best Cliffy!
