Thalamus Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 I can't help it. But, reading from what lucky1 responses I feel very much being in the same boat at times. People who are new to this community for some reason believe that the best way to go about figuring out any issues is to ask either - in this case, leading programmer or for my case, a site moderator. I'm sorry. I don't know the details here, but, I think you're behaving like a dic*. Spend time, read the provided documentation. IF you don't understand it, ask publicly. Lucky1 is not your personal servant. If you can't handle a DIY project, don't start going that route. Buy something pre made and ask them for support.
dzorbas Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Not meaning to beat a dead horse here but the person you bought the display from is who you should deal with first and foremost. I've been selling these for a couple of years and I tell everyone that purchases one from me to start with me if there are any issues. I answer countless questions and spend a lot of time walking people through any issues they have. If it is a hardware related issue, I just simply send them out another display and include a return label so they can ship me back the problematic one. If there is something I can't resolve and there isn't enough info already here, I will post it on the forum in case others run into a similar problem. Bashing Lucky1 or anyone else on the forum is probably not to your benefit. Post a new thread if necessary and people will be happy to help you out.

I get a st link upgrade icon with a butterfly on my windows desktop and click it. It opens a window with a device connect icon... that still does not find my device... I am probably missing something? Regards Darryl From what I have gathered, your device came pre-flashed with Pin2dmd firmware, setup for your machine and ready to plug in. ST Link is for a different board version all together so you won't have any luck with that. The update you have selected from the link provided does look correct for your device. Having an error though while updating could mean that the copy to the SD card was corrupt, the SD card itself is corrupt or there is a hardware issue with the SD card slot. Having activated it yourself via SD would rule out the slot. Regardless, you don't need to do any of that to get it to work besides activating it which you have done. Did you swap the orientation of the data cable (only 1 end, don't swap both ends) and try again? It is the typically grey cable that goes from your DMD controller PCB to J2 of the EVO Pin2dmd plug. I know you have said you have but we need clarification what exact cable you swapped and one or both ends. Also was your previous DMD working? Sometimes people think a new DMD will fix issues and I have seen some people have a faulty DMD PCB that needed fixing before they could use any DMD. Finally, I agree that you should be having this conversation with Pinball Centre. If you ordered the bare PCBs from china and put everything together yourself, sure post here but you are paying the extra to Pinball Centre not only for the parts but to have it all put together and working for you. Unless there is a fault with your pinball machine, the Pin2dmd or user error it should just work. Part of the money you spent on buying it covers your technical support and no one here gets any of that, which is why it was suggested to just contact your place of purchase. And also keep in mind that general forum etiquette is to post publicly and wait for a reply. If you don't get a response quick enough, jump on the phone or email to Pinball Centre and I am sure they will help you out. If you have no luck with the advice above, let us know your result once you get it back from your place of purchase. This will help others with a similar problem and it won't mean your post is for nothing. Good luck
Darryl86 Posted May 6, 2021 Author Posted May 6, 2021 "Pin2dmd" is a brand. The only offered support on pin2dmd is from Lucky1 online. If pinball center sell a version they should rebrand it to save lucky here the headache. Yes I normally buy Colordmd's (i have 6 of them) but I thought considering pin2dmd is european I might try and back the home team for a change... In the end the display was at fault from Pinball center, I recieved a refund after a somewhat drawn out process.... I was directed to Lucky1 from every source online. I started getting bashed myself when I was being perfectly polite... and Thalamus you don't know me! You are making rash assumptions here with no grounds! Anyway... Basically it seems pin2dmd is a headache I'd rather not deal with. I could offer tips on how to go about making life easier for lucky1 here.... I am sure I am not the only to send him messages when a pin2dmd doesnt work.... he is the only advertised support... and when large companies start selling the brand his life will only get trickier.... But thats not my place... good lucky lucky1, I hope it gets easier for you... Regards Darryl.

If they take my project files and sell the hardware based on it, they need to give support. That´s the deal and they not it. 1 hour ago, Darryl86 said: he is the only advertised support The large user group of pin2dmd is the only advertised support. This is also written in the e-mail you received with the activation key
Darryl86 Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 LMOA! It's the name of a sold product. It's the name anyone types into the internet when they look for help. English is my mother tongue. You have branded yourself with the name lucky1. The DIY project is branded Pin2DMD.
