Afaik, DOF already IS so smart, to only "See" the first Part of a romname, before the underscore. So DOF should recognize "bay_" and ignore the Last Part, If it's 401 or If it's 402 doesn't matter.

Of course, you could add a Line into vpmalias.txt:

bay_402,bay_401

HI, thanks.  Before asking I tried the alias but as bay_402 has been added to recent beta versions of Vpinmame, so it's recognized as a distinct Rom from bay_401.

Maybe it's the reason why the alias is not working.

About the DOF config, there are 2 declared ROMs : baywatch and bay_401.

Unfortunately bay_402 is not an extension name of bay_401.

Replacing bay_401 by bay_ would made the trick. 😃

@Dicentim i can't See that vpm (even the new 3.7.0.211) would recognize this bay_402.

OK, i haven't this Rom, but vpinmame itself only lists "Baywatch", "bay_401" in the Test window.
Maybe you could Upload this modded Rom, so i can do some Tests around it?
