needavirus
Hello Everybody, I'm trying to install a Pin2DMD XL Home made in my BayWatch Machine, But I'm stuck ... I've find a 12Vdc source, on Power Supply like infos on Pin2DMD Site (I suppose for Nucleo board), But I use also a AC to DC Supply for 5V for the pannels... (Same on my Sopranos) But... I cannot find any AC supply source on the machine (Can I plug a DC source to this converter ??? I suppose not...) How did you installed your pannels on your SEGA / DATA EAST Pins Please ? Many Thanks for your infos ?
Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 19, 2020 Content Provider Share Posted January 19, 2020 You can use a DC-DC converter like the XL4015 from ebay and adjust it to 4.8V to use the DC 12V from your pinball machine.
needavirus
OH yes ! I've some of thems ! Is it enough to hold the power of the 3 displays and the Nucleo board from the 12Vdc source of the power supply from Pin ? That's good news ! I was pretty sure I NEED to use external AC-DC Converter... Thanks Again Lucky1 ?
needavirus
Hi, I've received my XL4015 today, and installed it, Everything is working fine, I've display, Pin2DMD boot correctly etc... BUT, I cannot have colorization ! (I've ugly colors, default, without any work.) I've downloaded the project from Rappelbox on Pinside, putted fsq, pal and vni files renamed pin2dmd on my sdcard, but nothing's change... I've tried a second sdcard, no changes... Have any idea of the issues ? Many thanks.

I've received activation key and installed it on MicroSD, BUT, the device would not activate... After 5-10' powered up, I've this message on screen : And I don't understand why... If I remove key or SdCard, no colors. So, the card is well readed. Tried to update Firmware 3.05 --> 3.08 No changes... Tried to rename key pin2dmd.key even PIN2DMD.KEY, still not activated... And the Device UID says : Not Activated... For the short time displays is working : I've good colors. Can you please help me one more time ? Many thanks ! slippifishi
I could be way off here, but I think the key file needs to be named <yourdisplay#here>.key, eg. "S23004B00175181.key"

Did you try a different MicroSD ? What size does you key have ? Should be 68 byte

Either use the 64bit version of the pin2dmd.exe tool to do that or upload the firmware bin file again using the st-link tool.
needavirus
Hello again ! I've some good, and bad news... I've tried the new method this weekend. Pin2DMD Tool doesn't seem to communicate with the nucleo... (No reaction, impossible to activate...) So ... I've tried again to flash with last version (3.08 --> 3.09) AND another SDcard. Then... IT WORKS !!! Activation successfull, and full color mode forever ! I was very happy ! BUT... 48h after, I would like to play, and i've got this... I've correct splash screen before (Pin2DMD 3.09) And just after I've this blue logo, and that's it. What's happening again with this card ?? (Lots of problems with Nucleo... Everything was fine with STM32F in my Sopranos...) I hope this is not dead... I'm a little in panic by now. Thanks again for your help Lucky ? Best regards ? Thanks again for your help Lucky ? Best regards ? This blue logo normally means that you don´t get any signals from your Sega DotMatrix Controller. Those boards are well known to be problematic. To verify that it is not a problem of pin2dmd you can upload the 128x32 version of the firmware to the Nucleo and connect it to your Sopranos. Even with the 192x64 panels you shoud see a picture. No need to tear everything apart. If it is working there, the problem is your Sega Controller Board or your Sega Power Board and not the PIN2DMD.
