mattfl Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Hey all, mostly been over at the other site, but this one seems cooler! I built a medium size build a few years ago and decided it was finally time for a full size widebody build! Here's what the medium build looked like It was a 27" playfield with a 19" backglass. So for my new build I've used the widebody plans and am planning a 46" playfield, 32" backglass and originally I was going to do a real DMD but decided to save some money and went with a 15.6" LED LCD. Cabinet Specs - Widebody plans from Mameman - 2 sheets of cabinet grade birch playwood Screens - 46" LED LCD Playfield(Not purchased yet) - 32" LCD Backglass(Not purchased yet) - 15.6" LG LP156F1-TLF3 LED Screen with NT68676 Controller board PC Specs - Intel i5 2500k - GTX 460 Video Card - 256GB SSD - 8GB Ram - 600 WATT PSU - USB3 to VGA Adapter for DMD Screen Audio - Lepai LP-168HA 2.1 2 x 40-Watt Amplifier - Pyramid 8" 300WATT Sub - 2x Pyle 5.25 200WATT 3-Way Speakers Force Feedback - 8 Siemens Contactors(Have 2, need to order 6 more) - Real Pinball Knocker(need to order) LED Lighting - Zebulans LED Lightbar(need to order) - 2 21 LED Strobes(need to order) Controller Boatrds - LEDWiz(fried my first one, need to order another) - iPac2 Misc Items - SUPERNIGHT 24V 15A 360W DC (To power 24v contactors) - Vintage Midway Coin Door, refurbished - 4x GroovyGamer Electric ICE 2 Concave Lightable Horizontal Pushbutton with RGB Drive II So, let's see some build pics now then! Let's add some paint and make it look a little nicer. Eventually I'll have it wrapped in some custom graphics, but for now I like the look of the paint. Time to move it inside out of the garage and in it's final resting spot in my game room. Also, add PC and other misc stuff! Need to take a few more updated pics as I've got quite the bit of wiring going on in here now. Fried my LEDWiz when I incorrectly wired my contactors Testing the DMD last night. So, that's where I'm at right now. Hopefully I'll be picking up the 32" and 46" Tvs soon, black friday deals and all. Order my new LEDWiz and get the other parts that I need to order to get this finished up.
mattfl Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Wow! Very nice! Very very nice Thanks!! I've followed your builds as well and they are even more impressive!

randr Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Wow! Very nice! Very very nice Thanks!! I've followed your builds as well and they are even more impressive! Ah shucks thanks.
mattfl Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 Welp got my $79 32" from amazon last night! So that's one monitor down, will be here tuesday then to figure out how I'm going to mount it!
mattfl Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Got my backglass tv mounted. This was def a case of, measure before you buy/build. The tv was way to big for the box I had built so I had to widen it by 3/4" on each side for the tv, even decased to fit. It wasn't that bad to do though and it's in there now. Will have to widen my dmd panel as well, then get some more paint and clean it up and it'll be done. Ok I got bored and finished the DMD too I'll grab paint tomorrow and clean it up, but I think it's gonna turn out great.
mattfl Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 95% with the backbox! Everything is painted, dmd panel mounted, tv mounted, speakers all done. Just need to fill the gap between dmd and panel and I can mark the backglass box done!
randr Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Right click on those backglasses and hide speaker panel!
mattfl Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Right click on those backglasses and hide speaker panel! Whaaaaattttt?! I did not know you could do that! I will try that tonight! Thanks man!
Loafmeister Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Yeah, nice bonus is the aspect ratio on the backglass ends up being better too.
mattfl Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 Fixed the DMD! So much better! Thanks randr!
mattfl Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 Lots of work finally getting done! Picked up a 46" Samsung LED TV from craigslist for $300 and got it mounted in the cab! Finally got my 3rd monitor(dmd) working so now everything is in place and the cab is playable! And a short video Normally I don't like portrait videos, but it's really the only good way to capture the whole cabinet, make sure to watch in HD My LED bar from Zeb has been ordered and should be here next week as well as another LED Wiz so I can get that all wired up and fill up the gap behind the monitor. Also need to do something with the gap between the DMD and the TV up top but that should be an easy fix. Now comes the fun of configuring all the tables
Mameman Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 looking sweet, always amazed and how in a pic the digital playfields look more real than in real life
mattfl Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 So another update on my cabinet. I'm probably 95% or so done with it. Very little left to do really. First up a few pics Inside of cabinet/Wiring Game shot And some quick videos I'm using PinballX as my front end, this is what it looks like in attract mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tZPgYjB5HI Here it is manually cycling through the tables https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bio6i1V--34 And here's a quick video of my playing World Cup Soccer '94 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9joz2W8pUc Only 2 24v contactors installed so far for the flippers, still need to order another 6 for the remaining force feedback. I have a sidewinder freestyle pro gamepad coming tomorrow to add nudge support.70 or so tables installed, updating as many as I can to the new physmod5 versions.Basically what I have left to add are the remaining contactors, glass for the playfield and some sort of side art. I'm extremely happy with how it's turned out, I've already had 3 people ask how much to build them one, one of whom was my dad who really couldn't believe what he was playing, he loves pinball(I'm going to build him one for his birthday which is in april!) and everyone who has come over to play it loves it.
Content Provider arngrim Posted January 13, 2015 Content Provider Posted January 13, 2015 order 8 other contactors to have the best feedback experience
mattfl Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 order 8 other contactors to have the best feedback experience It'll just depend on the price I can get them for
electricmagma Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 looks like you need some mosfets on your lights to stop the blue hue from being constantly on as well. looks great so far! Great work. I agree with Arngrim, get 8 contactors.

I agree with Arngrim, get 8 contactors. I'm not sure what this means? all my leds are connected to a resistor then to the LEDWiz. Am I missing something else?
electricmagma Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I can't be certain why they are doing that, but I have seen it before. Mosfets helped me. Maybe your resistors aren't installed correctly or aren't the right value?
electricmagma Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I use zebs SMT booster board. It has built in mosfets on all channels and a ribbon cable connection for easy hook up to LED resistor board
zeenon Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I love this type of layout!!!! http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?24865-Tiki-Gods-Pinball-46-quot-32-quot-DMD-Widebody-Build Z
