Hello,

Let's start the headache once again...

I've finished to restore my Rocky & Bullwinkle machine. Everything was rebuilt and controlled.

Then, swapped it to Pin2DMD with an old V3 hardware I've made in the past (2020).

Despite everything is booting up fine, the Pin2DMD display is stuck on logo....

Reflashed with last v5.00, reformated sdcard, swapped & reversed ribbon cables, installed new ribbon cables, anything...

Nothing work.

Stuck on the boot logo : Pin2DMD DataEast/Sega.

Also tested input : Without cable all open, with cable some work is visible.

Any idea to what for checking more ?

This is not my first Pin2DMD, but this time I can't find any solution :-/

Many thanks !

Hello Lucky, thanks for your help !

I've got one last V3 on my stock.

Swapped the entire mod (Shield + STM32) on the fly, and ... It work !!

Swapped the actual STM32 with the stock one on the actual shield inside the game, didn't work. <_<
So, sure there is a problem with the shield mounted on my pin, but, what ??

Remember I've done both of them the same day with same components...

Any idea of what to check on this one ?

Many thanks for your support :-)

I had this problem with my STAR WARS (same video card) few years ago.

At first, i try with a verry short cable bettween the video card and my pin2dmd and it work, but a 2inch cable was too short to be usefull.

So i replaced U1 (74HCT240) and it work with the 6inch cable. I am now using this configuration.

By looking to the schematic i see that there were a 470pF (C1 .. C6) capacitor between the U1 and the video connector, the pin2dmd have also a capacitor (47pF) at his input, there is maybe too much capacitor !!

Another thing, i found that my Gottlieb pinball have a 74LS ic as the output buffer. I use a much longer cable on my  Gottlieb pinball and it wok well.

Hope this will help.
