deadmanworking Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Did you check that you have the correct roms? The tables you mentioned, they worked before?
floyd5 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Is it a problem with this csl usb soundcard? What kind of soundcard is working, recomended? Have anyone good experience with other card, like audigy or usb cubilux or startech?
deadmanworking Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Did you try 7.1 not enhanced? Enhanced doesn't work for me either but regular does. (front is back etc) CSL is fine, have used two models in the past without issues.

floyd5 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 so, Now it works. I tried all the USB ports on the back of the PC. Always the same problem. Now I used the front USB. And lo and behold, it works. However, I also reinstalled the Realtek drivers. But I don't think that was it... Hopefulley not a one timer 😉
floyd5 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 And no, it dissapiers if equalizer apo is installed. Back usb not working with and without Apo tool. Without eqalizer apo sound in cabinet is not very good...
deadmanworking Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Using just the generic windows driver and it worked out of the box. Maybe you should try a powered USB hub? I had a few issues with unsteady USB power which disappeared after adding the hub.
floyd5 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 it is definitiv the kombination equalizer APO with backglas Sound I have YouTube running in the background. On the Elvis table, it continues to play the YouTube sound and also the table backglass sound thrugh the front speakers. On Tales of Arabian, only YouTube can be heard in the background from the front speakers. On both tables, the side and rear speakers in the cabinet work. Both tables work as soon as Equalizer APO is uninstalled. I don't want to do without the equalizer. It definitely makes a difference. Equalizer APO Vers. 1.4.2 or is it the combination with PinVol?
deadmanworking Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 Oh so you are using PinVol? Check that you haven't set your backglass to -10 by accident (or clean out the tablesettings file for a fresh start).. What happens if you close Pinvol in the task menu before running the table?

I have done the first advices. I must check whats happened, if i end the task. But i thouht that i anyway manually start pinvol. What is your software combi?
deadmanworking Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 OK another thought, did you check in Equalizer APO settings that it's enabled for the correct soundcard/device? I'm on VPX 10.8 stable version (January) and the VPinMAME 3.7 beta, run PinVol with Windows startup. One thing I noticed it then whenever something out of the ordinary happens with the USB soundcard (unplug or replug) it gets registered as a new device, losing all settings in the process. (I'm now on USB sound device 10.) So that means going through the whole checklist again: -in Windows sound options set it as 7.1 device, no center and sub channel, the others all set to full range -select the new device in Equalizer APO settings, and check in the config file that PinVol is not commented out for some reason - select the new device as 7.1 (not enhanced) in VPX audio settings for both effects and music and check that checkbox is set and volume at 100
floyd5 Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 "and check in the config file that PinVol is not commented out for some reason " can you explain, what do you mean ? in config.txt?
deadmanworking Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 In EqualizerAPO/config folder there is a config.txt, it needs a line called "Include: PinVol.txt" or "Include: PinVolSSF.txt" (don't remember exactly but should be in Pinvol install instructions). If that line isn't there or commented out with a ' Pinvol won't have any effect. So after reinstall or reassign of the device it needs checking as well.
floyd5 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 "Include: PinVol.txt" I have checked. That's ok, but the problem persists. The workaround is to take the side and rear from the CSL 7.1 and the front from the Realtek motherboard. That works. However, I don't yet know what problems I will have with Pinball FX (Pinball M), I haven't got that far yet. Does anyone have experience with 2 sound cards and Pinball FX? Apart from that, I have now ordered a Startech USB sound card 7.1 and an active USB hub. I am still hoping for a 1 card solution Greetings Hartmut
floyd5 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 I also looked in the sound manager under VPX to see whether the music and voices for the two tables might not be on the baking glass. But I can't find any reference there. Where is this actually controlled? In the table script? It is mysterious why it only affects 2 out of 6 tables (I have only installed these so far as I wanted to have the hardware and software ready first)
deadmanworking Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 The sounds and music come from the ROM, you will find nothing in the sound manager. Maybe try downloading Peace (frontend for Equalizer APO) and check something's awry there? Very strange that you have this issue only with Eq APO installed
floyd5 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 New discovery regarding the tables without sound. The sound does not come from the front, as expected. As with the other tables, but from the C/Sub output. So it is being redirected, in case i use the Equalizer APO (APO installed) Then only from one speaker (right) But where can you change that?
floyd5 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 In Equalizer APO, there is an option to route the C channel to R and L. Now it works. It's mono, but that doesn't matter. Include: PinVolSSF.txt Device: Speakers USB Sound Device {e77340ed-e307-42dd-835b-7b5d270bd9b8} Stage: pre-mix post-mix GraphicEQ: 25 3.4; 40 8.2; 63 9.8; 100 11; 160 11; 250 7.4; 400 5; 630 1.4; 1000 0.6; 1600 0; 2500 0; 4000 0; 6300 0; 10000 0; 16000 0 Copy: L=L+C R=R+C Channel: R Preamp: 0 dB Channel: L Preamp: 0 dB Channel: SL Preamp: 2 dB Channel: SR Preamp: 2 dB Channel: RL Preamp: 2 dB Channel: RR Preamp: 2 dB
COY Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Hi Guys ! Same problem here, SSF 7.1, no music in games, only coils sound ! Then I removed Equalizer APO... everything is fine ! Am I the only one ??? Cheers from Belgium, COY
deadmanworking Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 @COY see @floyd5 solution above, after reinstalling my cab I ran into the same issue, this only affects 80ies and 90ies Roms that are in mono. Another way to fix this is hit F1 and select Route mono to stereo
Yanitzch Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I had the exact same problem with CSD card and 7.2 setup. I have been working on it for 2 days with no luck. So happy to finally find this thread and the mono-stereo solution! Thanks so much!!! Now I can finally enjoy my vpin in it's full glory!
