needavirus Posted May 18, 2025 Posted May 18, 2025 Hello everyone, I'm actually stuck with my last Pin2DMD, Lot of time din't make one, but ... My god this one gives me real pain... Everything was ok, making, programming, testing... Until I plugged it on my pin, the result is : No display. Tested back again on the bench, still no display. Even without SDCard as before the activation. Can't had any display. Tested other pannels on this, same problem. So i've decided to put back the STM32 on the computer, upgrade it, et flash it again. BUT : Here's the problem : If I can without any problem upgrade over and over the board, it is IMPOSSIBLE to flash it again, as the SL-Link upgrade utiliy told me he can't connect to the board ! Tried different connexion method on the program, different cables... IMPOSSIBLE... Why ? Is anybody had the same problem in the past ? What can I try ? Thanks a lot !
Content Provider lucky1 Posted May 19, 2025 Content Provider Posted May 19, 2025 If you can´t connect to the stm32 possibly it is defective .
needavirus Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 OMG ... Bad luck still with me... My gosh ! I will ask for a refund / exhange of it, but, what about my activation key ? (Already activated...)
Content Provider lucky1 Posted May 19, 2025 Content Provider Posted May 19, 2025 If it is activated I assume you had a display of the splash screen but you write no display. So what is true now. Do you get a pin2dmd splash screen or not ? If yes then I would guess that there is something wrong with your PC maybe ?
needavirus Posted May 21, 2025 Author Posted May 21, 2025 (edited) Ok, I resume what's happened : - Make of the pin2dmd display "on the bench" > Working fine > Display work, with splash screen and activation serial. - Receveid key, prepared SDCard with it and colorization - Finished mounting frame of the display (we are few weeks after now), and at this point, no more display... (The pinball is working fine of course) Even if I put back my new pin2DMD on the bench, still have no display power. But all other electronics seems to be ok and working. - Tried other pannels on this same hardware, still no display ! - Tried to put back the Nucleo board to reflash it / upgrade it again, and back to my first post ;-) So, Nucleo defective, maybe, but not tottally because I can still upgrade firmware on it, but not flashing it ... :-/ And, why ? ... I've made no mistake with it ... so I can't really understand what's happened myself :-/ EDIT : Oh, And I precise : On the Nucleo, I've the red LD4 is blinking, I don't know if it's a normal state or not ? Thanks ! Edited May 21, 2025 by needavirus
Content Provider lucky1 Posted May 21, 2025 Content Provider Posted May 21, 2025 Does the rest of the hardware work if you swap only the Nucleo ?
needavirus Posted May 23, 2025 Author Posted May 23, 2025 Received new Nucleo today morning, I will try with another Nucleo later this day, If it works, I'll break the older board and send you picture to receive a replacement key like it's described on the Pin2DMD website ;-) Note : By now the actual Nucleo refuse to simply connect on every computer (continuous plug/unplug sound) so, sure it's defective... Anyway, no more possibilities to connect it again by now.
needavirus Posted May 24, 2025 Author Posted May 24, 2025 And, without any surprise... It's now working great :-) BUT : 2 Things : - I now had a message : Palette UID Error, No colorization seems to be good. - I HAD to push the reset button on the Nucleo One time, otherwise the display stays off... Why ? I'll send you picture of destroyed defective Nucleo to receive new activation key. Many thanks for all your help :-)
Content Provider lucky1 Posted May 25, 2025 Content Provider Posted May 25, 2025 You need to contact the author of your colorization to get new files for your new UID
needavirus Posted May 25, 2025 Author Posted May 25, 2025 Hello everyone :-) We approach to the final goal ! I confirm now everything is ok, colorization, display is working etc... BUT : I still NEED to push the reset button one time on the Nucleo after I've booted the machine, otherwise, the screen stay off... :-/ > Yes, I've got the final version of pin2dmd.bin (4.13) > Yes I've flashed the last firmware on the Nucleo. Question : Difference between this firmware ! If I use the firmware upgrade trough the ST-Link utility, i've got : V2.J37.M26 And if i use ST-Link upgrade directly (just for updating firmware, without flashing ability) I've got : V2.J46.M32 Wich one is the good one ? And what can I do to have an automatic start on my display ? Many many thanks for all your precious help :-)
needavirus Posted May 25, 2025 Author Posted May 25, 2025 It works ! Now everything is 100% Clear :-D Many many thanks for all your help !!
